Basically this patch makes the game exactly how the old Halo's were, when it was about quick, precise shots. I noticed the AR still has bloom, which is good because that's about how it always functioned and makes sense. Precision weapons appear to not have it though, which is great. Also beatdown bleedthrough... nice.

If anything, 343 are fixing the game, not breaking it. The bloom wasn't so awful in itself, it was just extremely inconsistent. If that means patchi...

Ya but more layers means more problems. It's bad enough the PS3's drive can only pull in data at 2x read speed. 5 layers deep you would be seeing awful read speeds and major performance issues.

A newer blu-ray drive would likely be able to compensate with higher read speeds, but they can't exactly just put a new one in. Would have to wait for next gen.

I'm assuming they're not interested yet because it would be ridiculously stupid to dedicate resources towards porting it to a fourth platform when they're already crunched for time as it is. If EA thinks it's worthwhile, it will get done. Considering they're spear heading Wii U third party support, I'd say it would be a fair guess to assume it's going to happen sooner or later.

If anyone wants to know why these articles keep cropping up, just google "nvidia kal-el"

The thing is ridiculously absurd for a mobile chip. Granted, it's not quite there yet, but it's getting extremely close and even runs 2560x1600 natively, which is also absurd for a tablet display.

Sooner or later, the consoles we play will be these multipurpose computing devices; the rate at which they are advancing is crazy.

When you...

If it's more than $349.99 it will be a tough sell. I'm personally hoping for something more like $299.99. They're gonna need to take a bit of a hit to try and "win" back some of the crowd they lost, and casual people don't care for high priced items either.

Now I may turn out being wrong with this, but I don't see the next generation being as "power" focused when they design these things. I don't know about anyone else, but I think the 5 year average cycle these things used to operate on made the most sense. This way you have gradual but consistent bumps in power, but more importantly the cost to buy one will be much lower. Technology moves WAY too fast right now to build a ten year console and have it still be relevant (comput...

One could argue that ME2 didn't have the most tremendous story, but ME1 sure did. Once you remember that Mass Effect is a trilogy all surrounding the same story arc, ME2 is probably the perfect second act that we could have gotten (gameplay simplifications aside).

Think about it. The original Star Wars trilogy of movies was pretty much the same. First movie was an awesome exposition, the second one didn't have much of a story to boast about of its own, but was a pivot...

haha Azurik I've been trying to remember the name of that game for months. Literally just made my day I can't believe someone else remembered that.

Even so, I would still buy it in 2013. I don't see them cranking out another huge Battlefield game before then. They might, but it hasn't been their style.

For the record, I do see the Nintendo in 2012 counting as next-gen (technically speaking, it is), but I was admittedly referring more towards the next Xbox and PlayStation as you probably took it.

that DICE will release the game on next-gen consoles as well? The console version of Battlefield 2 (Modern Combat) was released in October 2005 for Xbox, then April 2006 for 360. The game had obvious graphical advantages on the 360 version.

It seems to me like this is truly a next-gen game that only PC players will get to enjoy to the fullest. What's to stop DICE from pulling the same move again? I'd sure buy a copy for a future console if it was available.

For one easy, simple reason: They are not well-regarded.

Now, hold on before you go all crazy. The general media and public views on Nintendo are that they can do no wrong, and Sony is always wrong. For whatever reason this is, I don't know, but that is why it will not happen.

I still talk to people that say PS3 has no games... and that's the majority. It doesn't matter what's true, what matters is how people perceive things. I'm not sayin...

Well hold on a minute here. I'm pretty sure everyone on the planet liked CoD4 because it was completely awesome. I still like Call of Duty and I feel a lot of people bash it out of some weird superiority complex. As a matter of fact, I bet almost everyone who hates CoD does for one reason:

The quality bar.

Now it's hard to discount them here, but if you take out the Treyarch games (which shouldn't even exist), the IW games have always been pretty ...

OVERRATED. Yes, the combination owns in games not optimized for gamepads (nearly every PC version of any game ever), but there are plenty of gaming PC owners who opt for controller support when it's properly integrated.

Example:

1) Using a controller for Source games = stupid and you'll get destroyed.

2) Using a controller when playing games LIKE CoD against keyboard players = a more balanced playing field than you'd think. High s...

Do you figure they have the talent to write a new engine from scratch in such a short time frame, or do you think they've gone with something else like UE3 or Frostbite 2 and made modifications?

I will not play it in 3D.

But what about PS and Nintendo? Before you go all crazy, think about it. Sony has shown that they are willing to allow 3rd party services supplementary to their own, like Steam, to allow cross platform play between users.

Nintendo's new online infrastructure has few details, but what all the developers can confirm is that it is the most open of all of them, allowing third parties to do what they please.

If it happens between CONSOLES, I expect it to be be...
