Was honestly hoping they would say they were starting to work on the countless top features on the PS Blog. Don't need it right now, but new features are better than this. They better have some new stuff at E3 because they haven't put out a real update in over a year (I don't count cloud because it's only for + members).

It's nobody's fault but Sony's. If they could secure a fucking system it wouldn't be a problem. Other companies have been deflecting attacks like this for years.

oh, and WHAT HAPPENED TO MY PERSONAL CREDENTIALS WHEN SOMEONE GOT INTO THE SYSTEM?

Hackers will be hackers, but it's SONY's responsibility to insure it DOESN'T happen. You can't possibly defend them. It's impossible.

A server going out is no big de...

coming from a PS3 user, PSN is crap. Now before you get all defensive, I'll let you know how I define crap by listing what I like and don't like:

Like:

- Online play itself is perfectly fine, and free
- Voice codec is top notch
- PS+ makes more sense than a Silver/Gold combo on Live

Dislike:

- In-game XMB is useless/slow
- Messaging is slow as there's no shortcut to read messages

"BioWare Is In No Position To Criticize JRPGs"

uh, yeah they are because their games are faring a lot better recently. It's one thing to criticize Dragon Age for practically abandoning its fan base, but BioWare's premier titles like Mass Effect and this new Star Wars MMO are of their highest quality. While I agree their reach may be extending too fast for them to keep up in some areas, those solidified franchises will most definitely deliver because they hav...

This is certainly not to do with the hardware in each console. Valve almost certainly upped the fidelity on PS3 for two reasons:

1) Live up to their claim that the PS3 was the "best" console version (in every aspect)
2) Ruffle Microsoft's feathers for not allowing them to put Steam on their console.

The thought that 360 couldn't measure up with this game is laughable, as it is not very intensive compared to a lot of other titles. It ...

It's great but people are killing it with their bullshit mashups that make NO sense. First Battlefield and now this. When the community made Inception trailers using LittleBigPlanet and forge in Halo: Reach, it made sense and was creative. Now people are just being stupid. Sink this crap.

That's what I thought, right. I see job postings all the time for game devs at my university, and for game engine positions there is always a primary requirement of C/C++, and sometimes a Python or other scripting language requirement as well. Not sure what it's used for (not everyone uses it obviously), but it seems to be effective in at least one area. I can't confirm what it's used for at all, maybe a small part of a database component for games that use it. Who knows. They...

That would make sense I guess if they bought some rights to it. It certainly isn't a bad choice, I just feel that the others might try something new.

And yeah, I'm pretty sure everything is written in C/C++ with occasional Python and other scripting languages for certain small areas. I actually wonder if it comes with its own compiler, that would be interesting to find out.

I remember hearing rumours that some of them might have been eyeing Intel'...

Seriously, go with Intel or AMD even. IBM's a reputable company for sure, but why wouldn't you go with where PCs/Macs are going right now? Developing games for the same architecture across the board is complete win, and I suspect the new offerings from Sony and Microsoft are less likely to use PowerPC.

Edit: Apparently they've been going with PowerPC so far because it is a RISC architecture which makes a bit more sense for a gaming machine than CISC. Then again, I...

Console market is bigger. There's nothing wrong with them creating an awesome PC experience, but they've said they want to take down CoD. There's only one way to do that: console emphasis. They already know the PC version will slay, why focus on it.

is fire everyone who works on firmware, and let Valve implement Steam UI for PS3. The only exception being that the PlayStation Store remains intact and the digital Steam store is not allowed for obvious branding reasons. End.

...or better yet, just hire people who know what the hell they're doing and deliver us a better in-game XMB and cross-game voice chat lobbies, while also making regular UI improvements/refinements.

Yes, and it's not really Steam, it's a subset of steam that only runs in the game.

It has far exceeded my expectations and looks fantastic, but honestly, if you can't voice chat with your PC friend what's the point... I'm sure you can in game. You must be able to.

Being limited to text chat through the actual Steam interface is fine, as long as cross-platform headset communication is enabled while literally playing.

Great for PC gamers, great for tech demonstration... extremely poor business decision if the console version doesn't live up.

Look, there's no two ways about it. If they want to take down Call of Duty they need to knock this game out of the park with the console crowd as well. Technical limitations of course guarantee that the PC version will be the best place to play BF3, but if they don't get that experience nailed down in scaled-down form on consoles, they'...
