And that there is the problem . . If you read the article, I presume you didn't read it all, or follow any of the links to the main news from industry giants such as GameIndustry New, Gamsutra, etc etc etc, all of whom are saying the same or similar things.
By "ignoring" the news and NOT following links on a site simply because you don't like it, makes you unaware of what the news might actually be.
There are several major news articles on that gamespot pag...
I suppose it comes down to fanbois in general . . . I hate them no matter what side of the fence they are one. I often cringe when Xbots make some statements, knowing I', automatically associated with them.
I'm sure they are the same on both sides of the fence, however, we (OXCGN) have more problems from the militant Sony Fanbois and we see it more often than not.
I called one Xbot out over the weekend on here for making absurd statements that it was Sony's PS3's fau...
Actually we (OXCGN staff) do care, as we love many major PS3 titles, we reviewed MGS4 (9.8) and covered the release night here in Sydney, and have Resistence 2, Killzone 2 and LBP lined up for the site by site members.
We (gamers) need all sides to be moving forward, otherwise we are the ones that lose out in the end. With fewer and fewer games. Although, right now we're flooded with games, no matter what platform you support, there's something out there for everyone.
I disagree, not with the fact about it being bad or sad or - something that will affect others, but I doubt there's anything untoward about it due to the president taking office (not being from the US, I'm not sure when that is exactly?)
This time of year is renowned for companies requiring high returns, and also stock holders have higher than usual expectations on their stocks, as they to want to capatlize on them now. Perhaps draw on them for holidays, gifts, new homes, who kno...
My appologies, it hasn't bee a great day . .I unfortunately suffer from chronic and unrelenting pain, which means, I'm on pain medcation 24/7/365, and it takes its toll some days. I usually (try) to hold back my frustration, as often it can get me into hot water at times,
SO again, my appologies, In my defense though, seeing MS are still supporting Xbox per-se through XO (Xbox Originals) it does have a bearing on them . .
Perhaps the channels were wrong initially wh...
I/we (our site) certainly wasn't one of them, that's for sure. ANY company facing possible losses at this time is bad, no matter WHO it might be. AT the end of the day, it's families on the end of the blunt stick that suffer . . not some poor gamer who can't buy a bloody game . . . Employment is what matters if the world it to continue moving ahead, not lay-offs.
Which apply to all industries . .and if anyone thinks MS or Sony games is any different, then they haven't been follow...
Try reading or ding a simple recent google . . http://au.gamespot.com/news...
It's not hard to find info on any company laying off staff, SOny Computer Entertainment is no exception either, it's losing staff in 2009 . . . make no bones about that, they ALL will.
Try learning how to use GOOGLE dim-wit
http://au.gamespot.com/news...
And read half of what is on that link from half of the items listed and you'll see sony is NOT immune either . . Check the "UPDATE" on at gamespot . .
You SOny fanbois really do take the cake you know . . .
Unfortunately, when you getto the size places like MS Corp, MS Xbox-Div, SOny Corp and Sony Gaming etc, spending is almost a nessesity, not a luxury. SO even cuttiung back on some spending means that the items they have "in the works" will not ideally pull in the return required or banked on.
So continued expenditure is needed. Sometime more money is needed to be pushed into something in order for it to rise above what is currently happening.
There are are...
Definitely Ashton, couldn't agree more, and some clowns put up REPORST that it includes Sony, Xbox and Gaming - WELL HELLO . .It does involve SOny, Xbox Div of MS and MS Corp and Sony Corp and SOny Gaming and EA and all those who work for them.
Try READING the article before placing false reports up . .
Well no one is immune from the current economic crysis, no matter WHO they are.
SO MS losing jobs isn't out of the ordinary, but being so close to the others is a worrying thing, and the loss of several decent development houses of late is also worrying for the industry at large.
Thanks Rocka,
And the other report in fashion if you don't like something is - "Bad Editing" . . . seriously folks. and the We - Our thing ?? wtf.
We (OXCGN) are talking about our (OXCGN's) site . . so try 'reading' it as an invitation to join.
How do you think IGN, GameSpot, Joystiq etc etc get their writers . . from a lottery box . . They put out invitations in their NEWS sections and within the general news areas so that those reading can ...
Rubbish, it would have been the same . . .one machine does NOT make a game better - or worse. The development of the game is what makes a game, not the platform it is on.
Do take the blinkers off mate, you make sensible xbox fans shudder with stupid remarks like that.
The developers, which is actually made up of many individuals are scattered. With several starting a new development house called Pumkin Beach. Which was formed BEFORE this news slipped out. So in actual fact, the "developers per-se' are already in different areas, building different games that are NOT associated any longer with Timesplitters and HAZE . .for just that reason.
Again, read the article, follow links and you'll see it all there.
Just an open note to ALL Fanbois:
While we all love our chosen platform, be that Xbox 360, PS3 (Sony) or PC and Wii, we must aloso understand others have the same right to do likewise. And we nee dto respect that right - and their choice.
What you (Sony, and MS fans alike) are doing is ruining a perfectly great site that was once a wealth of information, where NEWS came first, rather than hypes fanbiosism banter, which usually has little or nothing to do =with the su...
Do wake up, if it's anyones fault, it's us as gamers demanding too much and far TOO much all too often.
It was in no way Sony's faault as it was MS's .. Remembering Ubisoft had control over HAZE to begin with, then it went to Free Radical Design for development. Yes, if they had of stayed with Timesplitters rather than HAZE, then released TS4 first, followed by HAZE, which would have had more dev time, they could have made a killing.
But the "demand" from ...
Sony had very little to do with it actually. The state of the industry at large did.
Plus . . and wait for it - YOU.
Why you ?
Well, gamers these days have made life litteraly hell for "developers" (do not read developer meaning publisher as so many mistakenly do - okay)
Why YOU (gamers in general) Easy, we have become a demanding, self absorbed and often ignorant end user. Whos whimsical buying powers dictate what PUBLISHER's deci...
Appologies there,
his post didn't show on my browser unfortunately, and the writers name is - David . . . . And thanks for the props, most appreciated.
Which is why it's called Conflicting reports . But, I have seen a "receivers notice" yesterday outlining the sale of assets from the studio. And for that to occur, papers need to be filed, and that due process takes several days, so that would mean the studio was placed in receivership early this week or late last week.
If you want a link about the receivers notice, check IndustryBiz News or GameSutra, they have the links
I seruously do not hink "exc;usives" willbe THAT important in the following years, as more and more developers through their publishers see that having their games run on multiplatforms is a much more viable idea now.
Especially in the current climate, which isn't going to just disapear over night. It will take a few years to iron out, in which time, several developers will have had to close their doors for good. Or join up with the 3-4 major publishing houses in order ...
