I would rather pay $70-80 for a game and get a complete game than deal with microtransactions. I understand that the cost to make games has gone up (even though the player base has increased as well!). I'm prepared for a price increase. But microtransactions have a negative impact on how the game is structured. It takes the fun out of the game and makes me feel pressured to spend extra money just so I can enjoy content already in the game, and be competitive.
What a JOKE.
Their excuse is that they "Don't want players exploiting arcade to get an advantage in multiplayer."
They don't care if you exploit MTs to "get an advantage," though. As long as EA is getting extra money from you, exploit away!
It's not gambling. It's still a crappy practice.
But think of it as like buying a pack of pokemon or magic cards. Is that gambling? You're paying for a randomized set of "goods," but no matter what you get something of value, albeit varying in value. When you gamble at a casino you could spend hundreds, thousands and literally walk away with NOTHING. That's the difference. I am not defending the practice because it is still cancer to gaming, but it...
It's really sad to see fellow gamers fall for the narrative that net neutrality is somehow bad. This *should* be a god damn no-brainer, but so many of you are irrationally butthurt over SJW bs or too blinded by cult enthusiasm over Trump that you are completely oblivious. The ISPs & GOP is not lobbying millions for this to save you money or give you better internet ffs. Get a god damn clue people.
@mastiffchild
5-7 is not average. It's more like a grading scale like in school; 5/10 would mean an F. 5/10 is not average because very, very few games get review scores of under 5. Or even under 6 for that matter. Especially when looking at higher budget, AAA titles.
"That's why Sony is investigating since it's against their rules for Pro games."
What does that even mean? Sony said all PS4 games will run on the PRO, presumably running at the same or even better performance. Many games were developed long before the PRO was even conceived, how can they be responsible for somehow retroactively breaking a "rule" concerning PRO?
The fact that some games actually run worse on the PRO is soooooooooooooooo disappointing. wth Sony?
EDIT: I'm just going to interpret the disagrees as people who are actually in some way glad that some games perform worse on the PRO.
2nd EDIT: Really, it's the games fault that Sony released a new console that can't play them as smoothly as the base console? The PS4 is not that new, some of these games may not have any post launch support anym...
30 FPS, even on ps4 version? o_O
...are all the warriors titles 30 on current gen?
It is totally pathetic the way PS4 fans are acting about this, and I say this as a PS4 fan myself. The mental gymnastics being used to deny that these two upcoming consoles are in direct competition is mind numbingly stupid. They are releasing around the same time as each other; that puts them in the same generation/era. I GUARANTEE you they will be sharing multi-plat games, exactly like the PS4 and Xbox one do. The xbox scorpio is more powerful, just accept it. All this crap about one being ...
Cool, yeah that's what I meant. Obviously games won't magically get updated visuals without the developers releasing some kind of update, but hopefully performance will generally improve. There's a few games that will benefit just from that alone.
What about older games? Will older ps4 games that struggle with framerate possibly perform better on NEO? Or does the game have to be developed in a special way to take advantage of NEO power, and thus only post NEO games will benefit?
but it's still rendering using data and algorithms on the disc, which was the main distinction I was making. There's no server side computing or data needed. As I understand it, all of the traits of the universe are stored mathematically as values, and the algorithm renders using those values at the time and place they are supposed to be rendered. It's just a more efficient way of storing data for the game world. But it's really not that different in a practical sense, in othe...
@ uth11
And in terms of practicality, how is that any different than a game having a certain draw distance? All it really means is that the entire universe isn't rendered simultaneously, duh, like any other game. The point is, all of the data needed to explore the entire universe is ON DISC. And everyone's universe will be the same, save for whether or not you see other peoples discoveries and other online perks of you play offline.
This is actually inaccurate. The game does not employ real time procedural generation. One single giant universe was created using procedural generation, and that one universe is on every disc. They have said you can play the full game without going online at all, so no, no portion of the universe is stored on servers, only their discoveries are. Everyone playing offline or online will be exploring the same universe, and it's on the disc.
I don't think there's actually going to be "separate versions" nor was that what the article implied. Instead, we might see a drop in optimization. One of the main strengths of consoles over PCs is that console games are generally far more optimized, because every hardware configuration is the same (not saying console games are "better" than PC Games, strictly talking optimization.) I don't think this will be a huge issue because there's still only a few di...
Seriously, like what is a "gory space battle?" I have no idea...
And that doesn't bother me at all. I don't understand the obsession with 100% of games needing to be completely new and innovative. Sometimes I just want to play something that improves on previous formulas that I already know I like. I'm giving Ubi a chance on this, I really liked the previous ghost recon games.
Fantastic game I recommend it to anyone who likes strategy games.
The difference is that fallout 4 wasn't even announced until that point though. Sure, we all knew it was *probably* being developed, but we weren't getting teased like this years in advance with nothing being shown. We have known about andromeda for some time, and they have talked about how amazing it is for some time, but refuse to show anything. Next time I wish they just wouldn't announce anything up until it's that close to release and then just BAM, Mass Effect Andromeda ...
There is an English sub version of gundam breaker 3 that you can buy. I own it. It's awesome. Search Amazon/Ebay for it.
