The issue is that it's not necessary regardless. It is not necessary to make consoles online-only no matter how "connected" we all supposedly are. It is not mutually exclusive. You can have offline play as an option and still take advantage of online capability, sort of like how we have been doing so since the ps3/xboc360 era. The only reason to go online-only is to strip control and rights away from consumers, period.
I will never buy an all-digital or online-only device or service for gaming. Physical, offline gaming is a must for me.
The one silver lining in all this is all the extra exposure the game is getting. Glowing reviews for an indie game, PLUS a huge scandal at large review site? I'm happy for the devs.
Insomniac are great. I wish we would get a remaster of Infamous 1 + 2.
Don't support this bullshit please. The industry is rife with this kind of asinine, predatory garbage practices. Tell Activision to shove this remaster up their asses.
Wow, look at all this bullshit they are making DLC instead including in the game, 5 costumes and 3 variations of the classic samurai edge handgun. Fuck you Capcom.
N4G has always been a cesspool, and it probably always will be one. It is really sad to see GAMERS shit on other gamers, and games, and companies purely out of fanboyism. We all share a common hobby, we like the same things, generally, and yet for some reason we are constantly being rude to each other.
The only way I will game is with a home console, with a physical disc, able to be played offline. Any publisher that doesn’t want to offer that, will not see a single dime from me. Fuck off with this “games as a service” BS.
This 100%. I will always prefer physical. It will be a sad day if or when the industry moves forward with any digital and/or online-only model.
It would be cool to get some more games. I wouldn't mind getting a Hulk game, a Thor game, Guardians game, etc. They are leaving a lot of money on the table by ignoring the potentials that exist for these characters. They don't have to be based on the movies.
Actually it’s obvious from reading this review that the reviewer either didn’t play the game or didn’t get very far, because one of the things he says about the game is 100% objectively false. I don’t want to spoil anything, but it’s about something the game “lacks.” And I’ll leave it at that. People who have seen certain leaked footage will know exactly what I’m talking about, and it proves this reviewer didn’t play the game, or at least no where near to completion.
Well, when you realize that places like the UK, Canada, Japan etc all play video games just like we do, you can make an educated guess that videos games either aren't the problem or at best only marginally so. There are even studies which suggest that violent video games may actually REDUCE real life violence....
What in the hell was this article even? "Far Cry 5! it has guns and stuff. pistols, snipers, RPGs, and more! also, vehicles for running over and helicopters! Enoy!"
I did... but no physical US release pisses me off. So no buy.
I like having the option for both. I see the convenience of digital, but I trust physical more. There's more tangible ownership.
Dead space 3 was pretty good. Got a lot of bad publicity when it released, due to having microtransactions (that weren't really bad or intrusive in the game, overblown but shouldn't have had them anyways.)
I really liked the weapon crafting. DS 1 & 2 were better, but I still really enjoyed DS 3. Amazing trilogy.
People crap on GT but from Baby saga forward it was pretty good. Also the SSJ4 forms themselves are awesome, imo.
Exactly! It makes no sense. Very poor decision-making going on with Konami. Sucks because I was actually looking forward to this game, but I never buy always-online games, ever.
Woah woah woah....
This game requires constant internet connection, even for the single player campaign? No thanks. What a shame.
@Denawayne
And how is the success of Fortnite hindered in any way by the fact that the ps4 and Xbox one are not online-only consoles? So many people like you don’t seem to understand that online-only as a requirement is simply not necessary for any reason. Online-only games can and will exist whether the consoles themselves are online-only or not. But why should we be forced to have constant internet connection to play single player games like God of War? There is no reason...
