What a crappy attitude. Sony is dropping the ball here. I still plan to get PS5 over Xbox but that doesn’t mean it’s not a huge disappointment and failing by Sony. I don’t want them to just be marginally better than Xbox. I want them to be the best they can possibly be, and for the PS5 to be a direct upgrade to PS4 and be superior in every way. Full BC is a major component of that. Sony can and should do better.
You can tell by comment sections everywhere that
Sony screwed up on this. BC is a huge deal to many gamers. There are lots of gamers out there who play niche titles, not just the “most popular” games. Frankly I want the PS5 to be a direct upgrade over PS4 in every way, and that’s not what we are getting.
If I get a PS5 and my PS4 dies, for some strange reason I have to consider still replacing my PS4, even though I will own a PS5 and PS4 could be out of production,...
I agree, but with extra emphasis on PS4 games. Many of current gen games are going to age extremely well imo, and the idea that many may never work on PS5 is kind of ridiculous. I can understand PS1-3 taking extra work and perhaps being lower priority, but I really just can’t understand why full PS4 backwards compatibility isn’t integrated in the machine. I play a lot of niche games and it sucks knowing they might never work on PS5.
Honestly that is a bummer. I was hoping PS5 would be fully integrated BC with PS4. I play a lot of niche games and now there's a possibility some may never work on PS5.
Man, the leap from PS1 to PS2 was incredible at the time. This is when it became obvious that just about anything you could imagine would eventually be possible in gaming. PS2 showed gamers how things could improve very quickly, and look where we are now. PS1 was an amazing machine for its time too, but I feel that PS2 is what opened many people’s eyes to the endless possibilities of what video games could be capable of.
This. This Disc should be clearly labeled with “Part 1” or something. Anyone not following the news closely will just think it’s a full remake of the original game.
I'm super excited for this. Person is an amazing series.
I'm willing to bet there are a lot of gamers who would prefer 1080P/60 over 4K/30. I don't see why they can't offer the option to choose either in games.
I agree with you, but even in those cases the games would still benefit from 60fps anyways. Performance has always been neglected in favor of graphical improvements generation after generation. It's high time we start seeing performance upgrades across the board now, in my opinion of course.
...Why not?
I really believe that we are at a point where graphics just don't matter as much. There are lots of games developed now that do not push graphics to the limits on current hardware, because they don't need to. Many games manage to pull off good looking graphics/visuals that will age well and not require the most powerful hardware to run. No longer are we going to see jumps like ps2 to ps3 in terms of graphical improvements. I'm hoping that the improved hardware leads to better perf...
Good, games should be released in a complete and polished state. I will never throw shade at a developer for delaying a game. That is miles better than rushing an unfinished product out the door for profit and greed. People need to manage their disappointment. There is always some other game releasing, and you probably have a backlog of games to play as well.
Lol.
"It's actually great for consumers that the Xbox will lack _______!"
No, no it's not. And quite frankly, healthy competition in the industry is what leads to better innovations and better games, so even as a Sony fan boy I am disappointed in Microsoft here. Step up your game MS.
This might sound crazy, but how good do visuals need to be, honestly? Visuals are SO GOOD now, look at games like God of War or RE2 that just look fantastic. Every generation the focus is always on visuals as top priority. When will that change? When can we make things like performance and physics top priority for a generation? Visuals will still keep improving, but they don't need to improve so greatly at the expense of other things that can improve gaming overall. Games don't have t...
Yes, and performance. Consoles are past due for having stable 60 fps as the standard across the board.
What is the point of a physical release of a collection where you have to download most of the games? And my understand is that the Doom 2016 disc is literally the vanilla release disc. No patches or anything included.
One of the appeals of these kinds of releases is that you are getting a full package ON DISC. They might as well have done this as a digital-only release, the physical release is completely pointless and even deceptive I would say.
Geralt or bust. I’m really not interested in playing as Ciri or another established character. Maybe if they introduce a new Witcher character who is as well-written as Geralt. Or...just give us more Geralt.
There is no flamethrower in the pic. In fact you can clearly see his right hand in the pic which isn't holding anything. His left hand is obscured by flames, but there is no visible flamethrower.
Do people really care that much what the console looks like? What matters is what it can do and how it performs etc. I'm still way more excited for PS5 than this, but don't understand the freaking out about how it looks.
How is this even a question? Obviously they should localize it. I didn't even know that was up in the air.
