Just out of curiosity and not trying to insight a flame war but, you have said on several occasions that the PS3 is the best Blu-ray player out there. What facts do you have to back this statement up? Aren't the high end sony, samsung, and pioneer players better and have more features?
Some of the stuff that you guys (the fanboys on both sides of this little format war) come out with just makes you sound like morons, that is unless you can predict the future. Maybe try the lottery if you are really that good :-P The whole money thing, xbots like cheap stuff? [The guys saying this stuff are probably the ones about to default on their mortgages because of low interest rates climbing and the crappy American economy. Listen to these guys, buy the expensive stuff and just pu...
It will actually be pretty funny when/if one format comes out victorious. There will be so many "i told you so" and "how are you liking your worthless hardware now" flying about this site. That day will truly by a gong show.
Thorny: "You smell something, Rabbit?"
Rabbit: "(Sniffs the air) Fear."
It would have been cool to hear an open debate. It is great when Goebbels isn't producing a companies information and someone has to actually use real information :-)
They are probably mad because you have a girlfriend and they don't :-P
The only reason Blu-ray players (including everything blu-ray) out sells HD-DVD players is because Sony included a Blu-Ray player in a gaming machine (that appeals to many people). There in lies the problem, because you can't say that all PS3 owners will buy blu-ray. Someone did make the point earlier though, why is the attach rate only 2:1 (in blu-rays favor) if as someone else said there are 7 million more Blu-Ray players than HD-DVD players?
These posts aren't bad to read when people make intellectual arguments. However, saying that HD-DVD dead is plain stupid because last time i checked both formats are still selling and gaining new supporters each day.
tomfoolery's point is that people are going to jump all over another one of the 360s great games because some people are saying they are having problems. Like what people did when it was disclosed that halo 3 was 680p was it? I can't remember because it wasn't important. People (mainly haters from the PS3 camp in this case, there are haters from the 360 camp too) take this article to mean that all Mass Effects are going wacky, but i am sure only a handful are. Those that seem to hate the ...
Who really gives a crap. People really need to get a life instead of writing up articles like this. People can't tell the difference, it is the same thing with Halo 3. Both great games, so who cares?
For using a reliable source, and for not blowing smoke out of your ass and using some common sense in your argument you are rewarded with a bubble.
The viewing was fantastic though and the 5.1 sounded pretty sexy to me. I can't say it only having 5.1 (omg only 5.1 :-P ) hurt my viewing experience.
This article is about blu-Ray and HD-DVD, how did the 360 get pulled into this conversation????
People say there is a difference because the piece of paper says there is. I would be very surprised if someone could consistently pick a Blu-Ray player for having better sound than an HD-DVD player of the same grade in a blind test. It is like me saying my LCD is better than yours because mine has a dynamic contrast ratio of 25,000:1 and yours only has 20,000:1. There are some specs that people just can't tell the difference between.
I don't have an HD-DVD player or Blu-Ray player yet, but when i decide which one to get my girl friend sure as hell won't care. On many occasions she votes to watch shows or movies on the 24 inch tube compared to the 32 inch LCD with up-converter. Most people aren't tech monsters and don't care if something is HD or not.
I like how people some people say $50 a year is too much for xbox live, but how many of those people own a cell phone. I own one and i think a cell phone is a rip off when compared to xbox live. It is $4 something a month for live, you could probably find that money on your daily walking around :-P
This article was a massive waste of time to read. And just to clarify for the people in here that seem to think everyone knows what blu-ray and HDDVD are, they don't. The average joe is still rocking the VCR for recording shows. We 'tech monsters' are the minority.
The title is misleading considering the article is about the pros and cons for each format at present.
A cunning plan that can not fail!
Man they are really marketing the PS3 as a Blu-Ray player and not a gaming machine. I would rather have games but that is just me. A pretty sweet deal for those looking to get a PS3 and who have an HDTV.
He is contributing to the site, there is nothing wrong with this article. It is much better than some of the other crap that has been posted about the format war in the past few days. This article actually has a lot of factual information about price differences and the predictions are actually labeled as predictions instead of fact like many articles like to do. I smell some fanboyism in here. Follow this test for self prognosis: lift either left or right arm, move nose towards arm pit (...
