They should just switch and finish it. One format is good. There is no point in two formats unless they have support of all studios. That will never happen now so only blu-ray can win.

I agree and disagree with you :-P In the past there was never a console to challenge the playstation in regards to longevity, so the playstation always ruled. The 360 is pretty good though so i think it will be close for the rest of this generation. Due to blu-ray victory more PS3s will be snapped up for the blu-ray player and the gap between 360 and PS3 sales will close while both continue to sell. After what has happened with blu-ray i don't think we can make judgments based on history ...

I agree with you but you seem to be going a little crazy. I am picturing you standing in a room throwing stuff around and smashing everything, maybe turning a little green too :-P

You have got to think that after loosing Warner the HD DVD group would join the Blu-ray group. Then toshiba can start making blu-ray players and make some money back. I would be very surprised if HD DVD makes a come back after loosing Warner.

Microsoft were supporting a side that lost, not a big deal because they only supported by making the 360 add-on that didn't sell very well anyways. I don't think they should release a 360 with a blu-ray drive because it is a gaming machine and the 360 games are doing fine on DVD. However, for the next console they release blu-ray might be a good idea if games require storage larger than a DVD. I am just not a fan of having a gaming machine and movie player squished into one box. I like st...

Does anyone really care which console is selling the best. All three consoles are here to stay and all have games that appeal to different people. So why does it matter which console is selling the best? I have never understood why console sales matter to anyone except for the people selling the consoles.

No one truely knows but if blu-ray prices follow the trend that dvd prices did after the launch of dvd then i think blu-ray will become mainstream.

I am a fan of the 360 and i don't mind. I have never had a 360 add-on and i got rid of my hd dvd player yesterday so i don't mind what format it comes out on. I will probably pick up a blu-ray player in the next few months. I am not sure what to go with though, atleast profile 1.1 but i am wondering if it is worth waiting for 2.0. I wouldn't buy a PS3 for the same reason i didn't by the 360 add-on. I like stand-alone players and not consoles that have players added to them. Same reason ...

With a comment like that, are you trying to get people to take your bubbles away? Don't follow TANOD's example, otherwise you will have to make a new account soon :-P

Agreed! It is interesting to see that in general if you want to find comments containing common sense and no flamebait, then look for 5+ bubble users :-)

The only problem i have with this article is the flamebait title. The movie would be blu-ray exclusive for high definition distribution and also produced on DVD. If this title is ok, then since they included the PS3 in the title the title is incomplete. It should be:
"Gears of War Movie in HD to be PS3 / Panasonic DMPBD30 / Pioneer BDP-HD50-K / Samsung BD-P1400 / Sony BDPS3000 / Sharp BD-HP20U / Blu-Ray Exclusive" I would keep going but i am sure you get my point now. <...

To the disagree could you explain to me why you think the 360 is done for?

6610d ago 0 agree0 disagreeView comment

Warner do make a load of sweet movies. That is why this move is so devastating for HD DVD. 3 of the 4 HD DVDs i returned were Warner. They are the one studio that alone can and have decided the format war.

I don't see why they would drop the 360 when it is doing so great. What were those numbers the other day, something like 16 or 17 million consoles shipped or sold.

I am confused, why will the xbox 360 die because of HD DVD going under? This is blu-ray vs. HD DVD, not just sony vs. microsoft. Lets leave the xbox 360 and PS3 fanboyism (on both sides) out of HD DVD and blu-ray posts please.

Its not like microsoft censors what CNET writes TANOD. They give blu-ray players great reviews and give good advice. I don't think anyone could recommend buying an HD DVD player after this news. Some people seem to think that CNET has an agenda to only promote (in the form of good reviews or advice) devices that microsoft supports.

Transformers is one of the reasons i bought an HD DVD player in the first place. I just hope that it comes to blu-ray, so that i can get it when i buy an blu-ray player. That is one fantastic movie.

I was going to wait until the sunday press conference to decide if i was going to return all my HD DVD stuff but after hearing this last night it all went back this morning. The fact that they canceled is a massive red flag. I would be very very surprised if HD DVD can recover from this. I just wish warner had done this sooner, then maybe blu-ray players might have been cheaper in the holiday sales.
I read a few people before saying they had opened HD DVDs, if you bought them within...

I find it very sad that some people are happy that other people may now have an obsolete piece of hardware. There is nothing wrong with being really happy that the side you support won a huge victory, but being happy because someone else is at a loss because of this news isn't cool. I returned all my HD DVD related goods today so that i can buy a blu-ray player but many people won't be as lucky as me. I feel bad for these people.

The problem is that fanboys on either side are a huge pain in the ass. If one side has a victory the other side with torment them and visa-versa. Good news or bad news will always be used to try and down or irritate the other side. I think that sometimes it isn't about getting good news for "your" side, it is about being able to throw it in someone else's face. Which in my opinion is pretty lame.
