I don't think they ever have. It is time for toshiba to start making a blu-ray player at the same price as the HD DVD players it has right now. That would help in getting lots of people to adopt blu-ray. Right now blu-ray players are still priced out of the reach of the majority of consumers.

That is the thing that really sucks about the format war, some people get left with a piece of hardware that is obsolete. I am just glad that i was able to take my A3 and movies back for a full refund. No matter what side you support, you have got to feel sorry for the people that can't return their stuff.

There is so much fanboy crap in here. Just because you own a console doesn't mean you have to hate the competition. Just because positive news is posted for the 360 doesn't mean you have to go on the defensive if you own a PS3. This site needs to learn a thing or two from AVSforum. Next to the title of this article it should read (if you aren't here for xbox 360 game news or to talk about Gears then move on). Why are PS3 games and the PSN being mentioned so many times in here? I think a lot of people also buy Planet Earth even if they aren't interested in Discovery documentaries because the picture is amazing. Even if you hate nature, you would probably enjoy hating it more in fantastic hidef because then you can see every detail of what you hate :-P
For the record i think Planet Earth is great. BBC are probably happy selling on both formats right now. I don't think they will jump ship until they have too because they don't offer a huge selection of titles in HD or Blu.

Blu-ray players need to come down in price. I want to get the Panasonic bd30 but there is no way i am paying C$599 for it. There is no need for blu-ray players to be as pricey as they are right now.
You also have to remember with any review no matter where it comes from you should take it with a pinch of salt because a lot of it can be personal opinion.
and the fact that Halo 3 is such a good game. Good story, great online play, good ranking system, bungie.net profile with expanded stats. Overall sweet.
