That is a good receiver, i have the 605. I guess you are sending the audio to the receiver via HDMI right? That way it receivers uncompressed PCM and the receiver can apply some further processing. Plus bubble for good conversation :-)
I am not sure why you posted those links because they prove what i said. "DTS MA bitstream output is not going to happen though internal decoding isn't completely off the table according to the Sony rep" Right now DTS HD isn't supported with the PS3, so you are only getting TrueHD as uncompressed PCM. So your statement that "the PS3 supports those sounds" is false. The PS3 also can't bitstream TrueHD and DTS HD to an HDMI receiver.
The audio support is better on these new players. The PS3 isn't the best option for those of us with HDMI receivers that can process TrueHD and DTS HD.
To be fair it does have better audio support than the PS3, along with everything else that a PS3 offers as a blu-ray player. Therefore, if you were solely buying a blu-ray player, are these new players not better because they have more features?
Anyone else notice that since the HD DVD vs. Blu-ray articles have disappeared there are more xbox 360 game vs. PS3 game articles appearing? I am thinking some people just need something to dislike or say that one thing is better than another :-P
Plus these players have the audio support that the PS3 is lacking. I am glad to see other companies introducing players like the BD50. Choice is good :-)
When i first got my 360 i bought about 5 a year but now i buy less because i already have sweet games that i still play. I have only played through mass effect once and i am going to have to play that again several times. Right now i am playing Halo 3 online and it is going to take a big title to pull me away from that. That is why i will probably only be buying 2 or 3 games this year. Apart from GTA and Gears 2, i might go for some Halo wars (when it gets a date) or Guitar hero. I love ...
I am still very confused as to why any of the consoles need saving. Last time i checked they were all selling well. People seem to be making a huge fuss about multiple new exclusives coming out. I bought halo 3 when it came out, and then mass effect at Christmas and i am very satisfied and still amused by both games. Do people buy a game a month or something? Last time i checked Gears 2 and GTA 4 are coming out for the 360 this year (just using that as the example because that is what i ...
I am reading people saying that the reason Gears 1 sold well was because it was the first 'next gen' shooter. Is anyone else around here like me and just buys a game because it looks good and fun? I can't say i care if it is the first 'next gen' shooter or 'next gen' anything because i think the term 'next gen' doesn't really mean a lot because people can use it anyway they like.
No doubt, if i wanted 25mb/sec down from the company i currently get cable internet from it would cost $100 a month. That is the highest that is offered from those guys right now. 1.2 Gb would be pricey :-S
Vote Obama, he will clean up the American image that bush has tarnished!!! I live in Canada and around here the image of Americans has really gone down over the past few years. I however play with lots of Americans on live and they are good people. The problem is that the majority of people judge Americans based on the actions of the idiotic few in power.
Just the bad luck of the draw, now that HD DVD is as good as done there isn't much point in continuing to make one.
This may seem strange but i like having the case and an actual physical disc. I don't even burn movies because then you don't have the cover art and the case. I don't really want to download a bunch of movies onto a hard drive.
I am not in the states my friend, i am in Canada. They told me 3 to 4 weeks and i told them to get it to me within 2 weeks otherwise i might take my business elsewhere (Priority shipping with courier can go anywhere in a day or two :-D). Don't give them an inch, always demand more. My 360 had to be sent 2700 miles to get looked at then a new one was sent out (British Columbia to Ontario). In this day and age nothing takes a long time, it only takes a long time if you let it take a long ti...
You buy any product knowing that it might fail. 3% of all fail right? Last time i checked the 360 was somewhere around 16%??? One died in 2 years for me, not that big a deal. I just really enjoy the games available on the 360.
Actually microsofts consumer support is far better than dell and samsung, in my experience anyways. Dell are useless and it took a lot of effort to get samsung to stand behind their warranty. Microsoft were a walk in the park :-)
A word of advice to people dealing with customer support for any company, don't talk to the monkey you get first, talk to their supervisor. When the RROD wasn't being warrantied past a year i got them to cut the replacement cost (they don't repair in canada) in half and give me free shipping, it took an hour on the phone but you just have to stand your ground. When the new warranty came out i just got a cheque in the mail for the money that i did pay.
I must say that Microsoft have be...
Why would you fear something like that. If it happens you get it fixed for free and all you do is go to a store and buy a new one with a 15 day customer satisfaction guarantee, open the packaging very nicely and take out only the box and use the hardware you already have. Once your box comes back all fixed put the 15 day console back in the packaging, seal it up all nice and you are good to go. I have only had one dead box since launch and getting a new one wasn't a hassle at all.
Dude you just took the words out of my mouth. I own a 360 and does microsoft selling 18 million matter to me (checks stock holdings), no. If it really matters to someone having the number one selling gaming machine, then go buy a DS for $100-$130 and you are set :-P
You are both right, there are both PS3 and 360 fanboys. They just keep commenting against each other and spurring each other on.
Agreed Ravenator. I got a free game with the DS when i bought it that retails for $20. I took it in for a trade-in and they would give me $2 for it. It was unopened and still in the shinny wrapping with the price tag on it! Ebay is the way to go.
