Because Activision boss, you know who wants more bonus in his pocket if he can make more profit for the company. He knows there are enough gamers that will pay anything just for more DLC.
I'm not buy the DLC and haven't bought any COD DLC.
That is one of the advantages of focusing on more gameplay contents than pretty graphics. Just look at many PS3 and X360 games today with very short gameplay contents. While online multiplayer looks like has more gameplay contents but in reality, it's just about replaying the same group of maps over and over again for more scores, not necessary more gameplay contents.
And, some gamers want next gen consoles to have more graphics power. Do they ever think with more focus p...
What game publishers need to understand is not every gamer wants to spend $60 for a new game especially so many games now have very short single player campaign. Not every gamer care about buying games for online multiplayer only.
Hardcore games who can't wait will be willing to spend $60 or more on newly release games while the rest of us will be more likely to buy the game if it's less after a month or two. It's a win for both because the games will get to sell ...
You are right about able to enjoy gaming without the need of trophies (or achievements). Somehow too many gamers today think unless you get the little trophy unlocked icon appeared on the screen every so often while gaming, it's not fun. Has gaming been reduced needing to be rewarded a "doggy biscuit" before the gamers will be willing to try to beat certain events in the game, or it's just the need to be able to show off to others, look, I spent x amount of hours beating the...
Best is the Teleport Potty especially some avatars sitting in it with the door open. Sick but funny.
When nature calls, you got to go.
I'm always amazed how some gamers wanted to bad to see certain games and console be good that they keep trying to believe any hype that looks good. The only real proof with any game is a shipping product that is actually good.
Marketing hype is not a proof that the game will be as good as the hype. That is why it's called marketing. And gamers want to believe and the need to believe like some 10-year old kid.
Also that is the reason why there are so ...
Fanboy or loyalist, looses the chance to play good exclusive games that other consoles offer. Of course, nothing can tell them otherwise since they already closed their minds to see only what is available for one console. It's their lost.
I started playing games on one brand console and found I missed out too many games only available for other consoles. Now I get to play any games made for any consoles. Plus if the same game is available for multi consoles, I choose the ...
One question I have is for those who prefer digital download version, do they not care if they are able to keep the license rights for years after they have changed the account or player? Or, do they not think about it?
Game publishers and Hollywood love the idea able to resell you the same game or movie over and over again over the years.
Example is a movie. Say you don't like to buy double-dipped movies again even they have more contents. You only want ...
If that is going to be true, at least newer Blu-ray spec is able to store more than 50GB which gives it more life to be useful in a long time without having to come out with another physical media storage.
Heavy Rain is probably a good example when the game is owned by Sony as the exclusive publisher, the game creator has to do what Sony wants not what the game creator wants. Sony only cares to promote Move while gamers who don't care about Move don't get more contents.
If Heavy Rain was published by 3rd party, it has better chance for more DLC.
I'm fully support disc. I buy very few Digital version because it's not available on disc.
For disc edition, we can still play the game many years later as soon we have the compatible game console and the disc is in playable condition.
Digital edition probably will not be playable after a few years because either we lost the game license due to game account change, max out 5 downloads on PS3, or even we still have the game license, the game maybe not ...
It's to create the "excitement". The idea is if a gamer is willing to jump through all the loops to get the demo, by the time the gamer gets the demo, he's more likely to be more excited to play it.
I'm the opposite. After tried to sign up for the demo, it asks me to create SE account just to get the demo. By then, I didn't care anymore.
The one time one playthough 60 min trial is worse than regular demo that usually has infinite replay and time. Also only able to play the trial at the opening of the game isn't the best way to know the mechanics of the game and sample the more exciting parts of the game.
I usually either take time or want to be able to replay my old games. Locked to PS+ subscription only to have access to the "free" PS+ games isn't useful to me. It's nothing more than an...
I really enjoyed Heavy Rain with different options of winning and failing to go through "positive" outcomes in the story and gameplay. Failing in the game often leads to more interesting outcome in the story than tried to win in every event.
I lost interest in Demon's Souls after spending 8 hours of failing just to get to the first boss because the game ensures any kind of failure kicks the player back to the beginning. Demon's Souls fans said the game is so...
What about the hardware cost compared to graphics improvement ratio? What is the graphics quality of a $300 PC hardware compared to the console?
To get the most out of the games graphics, PC gamers are expected to keep throwing a lot of money into upgrading the hardware frequently.
If you know all the secrets and skip all the cutscenes in Infamous 60 min demo, how far into the game will it let you play? Assuming there isn't a limit, there are probably a lot of unused game data from the 6.88GB download.
With certain games, you can get quite far within 60 min into the game in Easy difficulty, know every tricks and skip all the cutscenes. While some games started off very slow in the first 60 min.
Right now, the few features added to PS+ doesn't effects the free PSN, but Sony will continue to add more and more features to PS+ while the free PSN probably will only get minimal new features. Eventually, the new PS+ features will start to effect the "compatibility" with the free PSN gamers playing certain online games together such as PS+ exclusive DLC.
Don't be too naive thinking Sony will continue to ensure free and paid gamers will always be able to pl...
Most games today shipped have so many bugs and glitches. Why spend $60 or more on the day 1 when the game is broken? A lot of the pre-order DLC aren't that useful other than cool to have.
Wait a few weeks and some of the bugs would have been fixed and often the price of the game has dropped.
Most responses here are for those who have no self control. When already waited 1-2 years, what's the difference waiting for a few more weeks especially able to e...
PS3 firmware 2.40 and 3.00 are also the buggiest. Firmware 2.40 had to be pulled off PSN. Firmware 3.00 caused a lot of freezing. Both versions of firmware had to be quickly patched.
So, as long the firmware introduced a lot of features and being the buggiest, it's listed as the "greatest firmware"?
It seems gamers today see more features + bugs = greatest.
Gamers keep saying "can't wait". Complain if the game is delayed. Even the game is released with full of bugs, gamers will still prefer to buy it and then complain. Not playing is not an option to many gamers because self control is too difficult.
So, what do game publishers do? Ship the game before it's ready because they can still sell it. And, each game publisher start to do the same because they know they can make the money first, and maybe fix it later ...
