Another disk locked contents that gamers often forget is it prevents the same gamer from playing on multiple gamer accounts.

Also, it prevents multiple family members with their own gamer accounts from sharing the same disc since only one family member account gets the VIP contents.

For those that need to change the gamer account, they will loose the VIP contents and have to buy the same DLC again.

So, this type of new disc locked contents al...

Would be nice if Rock Band 3 allow using real MIDI keyboard. I don't like the tiny RB3 keyboard that is made to play like holding a guitar. I'm nothing against it for gamers who just want a casual keyboard for the game but for those who already has and know how to play a real keyboard, it's a much better instrument to be used with RB3 game.

For obviously reason, RB3 keyboard has MIDI interface is to also sell it for computer MIDI software use. But RB3 wouldn't...

I totally agree with ElementX and whenever I made such comments, I get a lot of disagrees.

Yes, hard drive install does make the game run smoother. Yes, hard drive are cheap but why do I have to upgrade to a larger hard drive just to be able to keep all my games ready to play at anytime without having to wait to reinstall them each time?

What Sony should have done from the beginning is make install optional. My opinion is Sony didn't want bad reviews on t...

This is the right way to make PS3 install. When my games get old and I don't play them very often, I go for optional install. I only choose full install if I'm playing the games a lot.

But there are still games that require very large install because of the laziness of the game developers in optimizing the games.

Even large capacity hard drive is cheap, making full hard drive backups became very impractical because it's very slow. With console loc...

That is why DLC has become "DisabLed Contents".

As long there are enough gamers who will buy DLC for any price to keep playing, game publishers will continue to disable/remove contents from the retail disc and sell them later. Gamers may complain the DLC prices but plenty still buy them.

How often do gamers ask how much of the original contents are disabled/removed to be sold later when they buy the new games? How much will be the total cost of all ...

That is why gamers who can't wait to get the games quickly on the first week pay a full MSRP. Those who wait for a few weeks/months pay less. Those who wait for a year may get a new edition with more contents. By then, the game is old and the game publishers want to sell as many copies as possible by adding more contents. If not, the same edition have to sell for a bargain price. By adding more contents and call it Ultimate or GOTY, they can sell it for a high price again.

Bioware is still coming out with more DLC for DA:O. Until EA/Bioware stops making any more DLC before the Ultimate Edition comes out, there will be more paid DLC.

Hopefully they don't put part of the contents with activation code because the free DLC code including with the original edition has expired.

Funny is everyone that replied kept saying their PC costs more than either PS3 or X360 which what I said originally. What can a $300 PC compare and what can it still compare in 3 years from now?

I used to be a complete PC gamer until I finally got so tired having to keep putting more money to upgrade the hardware just play the games comparable to the consoles. Second is I got tired have to frequently update the drivers and then having to ensure the new drivers/Windows remain ...

When the next gen consoles are out, gamers will quickly find very few games are designed to the next gen hardware. It took 2 years for the current gen consoles to have most games designed to use the hardware capability. Remember the first year games? Most looked they were upscaled from the previous gen. On the 2nd year, only some games were designed for the current gen hardware.

With the next gen, the cost and time to get to the more powerful hardware will be far greater. Gam...

What is the cost of PC hardware to get better graphics quality than X360 or PS3? And how often does the PC hardware need to be upgraded to ensure it's always above X360 and PS3 graphics?

Those are the questions PC gamers don't like to talk about.

Hard copy of games for sure. Digital download version has no physical media ownership other than license to play them. They are locked to the gamer account. Also, they take up a lot of hard drive space. I don't care the excuse of hard drive is cheap because on game consoles, it's not just put in a new hard drive and easily copy the old games over. There are so much DRM that it takes hours just trying to ensure everything from the old hard drive is successfully moved over because I can...

MGS4 isn't based on the gamer's choice made back in MGS1, 2 or 3. Kojima knew how the prequel story has unfolded when designing MGS4. Plus MGS is not a RPG where "Snake" would have classes, special skils and made different decisions in the prequel.

Having played ME2 with and without important ME1 saved game, the game does play differently and certain character/story changes happened differently.

Yes, just by playing ME2 as standalone is stil...

Being an owner of both PS3 and X360, this kind of news is just amusing to read. I already played ME2 back in January 2010. Part of the fun about ME2 on X360 is able to import my ME1 saved game and see the little changes in the story and characters. I also replayed the game without import and the game played "more generic" without the choices I made in ME1.

Without ME1 on PS3, this very neat ME1 saved game import feature will not be available.

Don...

It looks like the free NFS Shift credit only appears 2 days after NFS Hot Pursuit ships. Plus the way Amazon worded the free NFS Shift is you may have to pay for the shipping.

Is it possible to pre-order NFS Hot Pursuit on PS3 version and get the "free" NFS Shift on X360 version? I already have it on PS3 version.

The game box shows it's Limited Edition. Probably some unlockable cars or tracks?

I assume there are going to be multiple types of Move logo on the games such as Move/Eye, Move/Move/Eye, Move/Navigator/Eye and Eye (only?) like Kinect looking at the player's body movement. That is how Wii puts types of Wiimote controllers requirement even not every Wii games that also support the classic controller has the logo listed on the game box.

Is "1 Month for $1 - $1.00" allows once per Gamertag?

For a full year Gold Live, buy it from 3rd party because it's often on sale for around $35 and as low as $30. Why subscribe directly from Microsoft at a full price? Anyone who prefers to pay a full price probably don't care the amount it costs anyway.

It's not if the gaming hardware can render this level of graphics. It's the amount of artists time required to model and design that level of details.

Now just think about the development cost of games will become.

The only purpose of going to midnight launch is for those who have the need of the social gathering and able to brag that they got it first.

For stores, it gives them a reason to do more promotion to sell more.

I got my 320GB hard drive 2 years ago. So, I should keep having to upgrading my PS3 hard drive like it's free? That's a big negative. I always amazed some said just buy bigger hard drive as the solution to poor design.

Some replies said "most" PS3 games don't have any mandatory install. Those must only be playing very new games only. I started playing PS3 since since launch and I'm supposed to forget about them because they are older games and large ...

Another thing is many games have large mandatory install. If delete the game install to free up my hard drive, the next time I want to play the game and if the mandatory install is 5GB which isn't that uncommon, that takes another 20 minutes waiting. If the game has a large patch such as NFS Prostreet which is 700MB or something like that, another half an hour or longer of waiting for it to download. Burnout Paradise requires download multiple versions of patches which easily take an hour...
