Games like Bad Company 2 has both map packs on the disc but still called DLC. Or EA's new definition of DLC is "DisabLed Contents"?

Even Map Pack 2 is on the disc disabled, EA uses it as a marketing strategy to get gamers excited about Map Pack 2 is coming for a month since the game came out. So, gamers are not allowed to access the Map Pack 2 for month.

Also EA's new definition of VIP to access the "DLC" is only for one account. Anyone else also ...

It sure seems the capabilities of PS3 continue to get reduced since the launch. First, no PS2 BC, then no SACD, then no Linux. What's next for Sony to disable? Don't be surprise when Sony disables another useful feature (different to each of us).

To accept this means PS3 continues to become less and less capable since launch other than only good for gaming and movie console.

Advantages of using smaller hardware is it forces the programmers to write efficient and small software that can out do many modern hardware that requires 100-1000X to do a similar function.

Why? Few programmers today want to spend the time to develop small and efficient software. Really, now many programmers left today that can write assembly language programs? Most programmers today don't even know how the hardware they programmed on works and rely heavily on the compliers to d...

The remote can't do one thing, turn PS3 on because it's an IR not Bluetooth. But it is a good idea integrating the keyboard to the remote control. For fast typing, I use a full sized USB keyboard.

As for download movies from PSN store, the movies are locked to one PS3 console. The PSN account is also locked to one PS3 console for downloading movies from PSN store.

Those are little dirty secrets that Sony doesn't make it well known on how restrictive downloading movie...

Another way for Nintendo to make extra bucks selling MotionPlus that should have been integrated into Wiimote from the day 1.

Still waiting for enough MotionPlus games can use it seriously, not just somewhat using MotionPlus.

This always has been how Apple is. If you don't have anything good to say about them, don't say anything.

Apple fans are often like that. They often tried to ignore or quiet about anything negative about Apple.

I started as an Apple user, owned Apple II and Mac, and eventually got tired of how Apple does things, always about Apple way of thinking. Don't care about Apple products anymore and don't miss it.

Neither Microsoft or Linux are perfect but at lea...

If it's heavy, it must be expensive.

And launch PS3 were the most expensive. If it's lighter, it must be cheaper. And that is with slim PS3 being cheaper.

Good luck to those who like to buy download version of the games because with DRM, eventually, you wouldn't be able to play any of them unless you keep your Live Gamertag forever and with PSN, unless you never max out the 5 console install limit and never replace any of the 5 PS3 consoles that downloaded them. Even you keep those restrictions, there is no guarantee that the download version of the games remain available for redownload several years later on Live or PSN.

With disc...

So, looks like having Cerberus code ends with the next free DLC. Kasumi DLC and later are probably not free.

As EA is pushing for more activation code bundled with new copies of the game, how many free DLC will be as good as paid DLC?

Free DLC doesn't mean EA needs to give it as good contents as paid DLC. The Normandy SR-1 crash site DLC can barely be called a quest.

I'm waiting to see how many future games will lock up more of the contents on the disc to be sold as DLC. As long the game doesn't advertise (or advertised) on the box about the extra contents, the game publishers can lock them up. Gamers are often too ignorance anyway to ask what contents on the disc are locked and happy to pay $60 to buy them.

Once the game is out for a few weeks, the game publishers can announce more DLC for the game. By now, too many gamers of the game want m...

You could compare it to locked levels, characters and weapons until you have beaten the previous level or earned enough in-game points to unlock them.

I had a friend who was mad because his son couldn't play all the advertised items in the game because he couldn't beat the game to unlock them.

Only difference now is you want the extra level or mission, pay with real money to unlock them.

There are simply too many gamers that will buy DLC. So more games in the future will lock up part of the contents to be sold later as DLC key. It's a simply business logic. More profit.

It doesn't matter the few of us who complain but more games contents will be sold as DLC.

Making multi platforms games is less risky today in ensuring there will be more copies sold. If the game developer knows the game is going to sale, making it multi platforms will ensure the total sales will be more than making it exclusive. If the game is release on both PS3 and X360, it's possible to sell almost twice as many.

Fans may complain but would the fans be willing to buy two copies of the game per person to ensure there will be twice as many copies sold? They may piss...

It remains to be seen how OnLive can handle a few hundred thousands of players at the same time playing heavy graphics games like on PS3 and X360. Can OnLive be able to keep up with very powerful backend servers? My opinion is if OnLive only have Wii level of low hardware intensive games, then they can probably do it. Good luck to them trying to handle PS3 and X360 high hardware intensive games with thousands of players at the same time.

As anything today, hype sales. I don't buy...

If Microsoft does add Blu-ray drive to X360, it creates backwards compatibility problem with X360 games. The game publishers have to release two editions, multiple DVD discs and single Blu-ray disc editions. It's similar to any X360 games not required to have hard drive to play the game. Only DLC and Live require to have the hard drive.

Or, Microsoft will have to make an external USB Blu-ray drive for X360 for games on Blu-ray only.

My theory is this is the main prob...

Many compared DVD and Blu-ray movie prices. Have you compare 2/3-disc DVD edition and Blu-ray edition in US? On the movie release week, only single disc barebone DVD edition is on sale but 2/3-disc DVD edition sells for the same or sometimes more than the Blu-ray edition that has all and sometimes more contents than the 2/3-disc DVD edition.

Is that surprising since every new online multiplayer games are full of glitches today? If game publishers want to be honest about the quality of online multiplayer, they should put it as beta for at least a month of the game release.

But somehow gamers continue to be ignorance thinking new online multiplayer games supposed to work properly after each online multiplayer games are shipped broken.

That is why game publishers continue to ship broken games because gamers...
