Nintendo is greatly successful catering to the younger demographics and the (as many of you gamer snobs call) "newbies." Will more developers follow Nintendo's path? Maybe. But it doesn't mean it will be the end of hardcore games. That's just paranoia. The gaming market is a wide market. There will always be hardcore games as long there is a market for them. I don't see anything wrong with a variety of games in the market. It's bad for the industry to just have games of one or sever...
I don't care what fanboys say. The PS3 is going to end up in 3rd place in sales. Fanboys remind me of Knicks fans: "next year things will improve." Um, I don't think so.
Sony dominated for two generations but got too arrogant and thought the masses would automatically jump on the PS3 bandwagon. Kind of like Nintendo after the NES and SNES. As history shows, there is no mass loyality to a brand in the console business. Loyality is mostly limited to hardcore gamers.

I wouldn't believe the Wii would be in short supply this Christmas if Mario Galaxy and Super Smash Bros. weren't released. Those games are going to generate a lot of hype and become HUGE sellers! Those games are going to be so big its going to be ridiculous.
If the developer takes time to tweaks the controlls for the game, the response of the Wii control will be excellent. Wario Ware is one of game where the controls are 95% accurate.
Is the wii remote the future of console gaming? With the stellar sells of the Wii which is outselling the 360 and PS3, it seems to be the future. It's the masses that determines what sticks around and what becomes obsolete.
As for the one poster who said there are no games that are impr...
It's really pathetic. If you don't like the Wii then fine. But it's still killing 360 and PS3 in sales worldwide. So all of your whiny complaints are just a minority view.
Super Smash Bros., Mario Kart Wii, Zack and Wiki, Mario Galaxy, and No More Heroes are going to shake up the gaming world! Better believe it.
There is a $280 Xbox 360 set on the market and the Wii is still outselling it. But you were right about the demand factor. The Wii is indeed in very high in demand considering it's been almost a year since it has been released and it is still difficult to find Wiis at retailers.
But compared to the PS3's game library, it's not much worse.
Most of the better games on Wii are from Nintendo, not third parties. Many third parties were caught by surprise with the Wii's success so they just shoveled games, which many were ports, to the Wii to make a quick buck. About 5 months ago many big name developers announced their greater support for the Wii -- they said they were shifting more resources to develop for the Wii. Since it typically takes about 9 - 18 mon...
It seems like a lot of people who work in the video game industry say the Wii won't last. They say it, I assume, because of one reason which is that the Wii is "underpowered."
The NES outsold the more powewrful Sega Master System; PS1 outsold the more powerful N64; PS2 outsold the more powerful Xbox and Gamecube; Gameboy outsould the more powerful Gamegear; the DS is outselling the more powerful PSP; the Wii is outselling the more powerful PS3 and Xbox 360. Do you see...
From what I read on gaming news sites for the past year was that Nintendo has been very helpful towards developers in developing games for the Wii. What some of you posters probably mean is that Nintendo is not buying and bribing third party developers like Microsoft is doing. That's a horrible business model as Microsoft is still over 7 billion dollars in red in their Xbox division.
Third parties can and have sold well on the Wii. Capcom's Resident Evil 4: Wii edition sold wel...
Who cares about what he said. The masses love the Wii -- it is outselling both the 360 and PS3. If there were many issues with the Wii as he said there was then it wouldn't be selling like crazy.
At least the issues with the Wii doesn't involve a third of the consoles breaking down and costing as much of a month on a down payment on a Hummer.
Those are software sales for the past week.
If the Wii remote is a gimmick then so is the SixAxis.
Innovation can be anything including the controller.
More horsepower meant more gameplay mechanics in the past, but not for this generation. Graphic capability has come to the point where developers are not limited to realize their vision. Any game on the 360 and PS3 can be done on the Xbox or Gamecube, albeit with downgraded graphics. There is nothing new about any game on the PS3 and 360. It's just the sam...
I don't know what's your source (do you mind posting it?), but according to http://vgchartz.com/aweekly... , the Wii Software sales in America are pretty good. It's on par with the 360 software sales ratio wise.
There are 4.6 million Wiis sold and 7 million 360s sold in America. The Wii Sold about 615,000 software titles and the 360 sold about 993,000 software titles. The ratio of hardware to software sales is ro...
While all you guys (and gals) are you quarreling over which system is more powerful, the little engine that could, the Wii, is killing both the PS3 and 360 in sales.
Graphics are not important to the general market. Fun, low price point, accessibility, and innovation appeals to the general market. And that is also why the DS is kicking the PSP in sales.
If you are so concerned about being able to see every strand of hair on a character then you are really shallow...
by adding rumble function when they should have had it in the first place. Now more people are going to buy the extra controller(s) primarily for the rumble which means more $$$$ for Sony.
Gotta love Sony. Next thing you know they are going to copy Nintendo again (as they did with the analog stick, shoulder buttons, cross botton layout, and motion sensors) by adding a Wii remote-like controller. I'll give them less than 4 years before that happens.
Sony has no v...
Nintendo has a great business model. I'm glad Nintendo is making a profit because that means they will be around to create future consoles.
As for Sony and Microsoft they are adhering to a risky business model and because of it they have lost billions of dollars. Will they be around for the next console generation? Maybe Sony, but I doubt Microsoft will since their video game division hasn't turned a profit for more than 7 years going on 8. Shareholders are going to want the di...
Maybe some of you don't feel cheated, but I'm sure many others will. They are going to think Sony should have equiped it with rumble from day 1. But it's all good for Sony when some people buy another controller because of the rumble. Just more money for Sony.
What about all those people who already have a PS3 without the rumble contoller? Good one Sony. I am sure the millions of users are happy that they have been jilted.
The analyst said the Wii is not a fad. Did you read that Wii-haters? Now can you stop saying the often repeated tiring line that it is just a fad? Or does the Wii have to outsell PS3/360 for another year to give up the fad label?
I don't know how the Wii is not competeting with the 360 and PS3. When a Soccer mom goes Christmas shopping and she finds three of the newest consoles on the shelf which one do you think she is most likely going to buy?
The people who have a 360 and/or PS3 and decide to buy the Wii, that could have been the $250 dollars spent on 360/PS3 games and vice versa.
Though the demographics are not entirely identical, they do overlap.
