The editor apparently never studied console sale trends otherwise he/she would have known that based on historical precedence that it's highly unlikely the PS3 or 360 will end up ahead of the Wii in terms of sales at this point. It's really just wishful thinking on the editor's part. Considering the Wii has been outselling the 360 and PS3 combined every month even when there was a drought of good games, how can you rationally believe that?

That said the editor's thoughts reinfo...

I expected the typical, mind-numbing, anti-Wii tirade we are all used to, but surprisingly it made some good points.

That said, I still think Nintendo hasn't abandoned the core gamer when they have released more core games for the Wii in 18 months than they did for the N64 or Gamecube. Nintendo does want to attract a wider demographic and I think it is a very smart business move while Sony and Microsoft fight over scraps. I am glad Nintendo chose the route they did otherwise th...

For now on everytime a fanboy bashes the Wii I am going to buy 2 more Wiis just to piss you guys off.

People who made racial comments are immature idiots.

This has to do about dumb fanboy articles approved on N4G.

Wii-haters have been saying since forever that IF this or that happened the PS3 or 360 would sell better than the Wii. For instance, fanboys said once GTA 4 comes out it's all over the Wii. Did not happen. Or they said once MSG4 comes out the PS3 will outsell the Wii. Still did not happen. Fanboys said once the 360 reaches the Wii price point it's all...

If the PS3 was priced @ 10¢ it would outsell bread!

I am not even give a proper response to this article because it's really insulting to peoples' intelligence (for those who have intelligence).

I am losing respect for N4G more everyday with these asinine articles approved.

Yeah, and if pigs could fly ham would cost $500,000.

This fanboyish article doesn't even deserve a proper response. Anyone with a brain larger than a lemonhead knows these articles are just plain stupid. It insults peoples' intelligence.

It seems N4G is going more downhill everyday.

The author said the Wii sold 555k around the world according to the last NPD numbers. Please feel free to correct me if I am wrong but I believe NPD only covers North America.

There are more 3rd party 1 million sellers on the Wii than there are on the PS3. So if third parties are doing bad on the Wii they are doing worse on the PS3.

That's pretty good for the Wii considering that most of the third party games are shovelware. Things are certainly going to improve now that the Wii has the largest install base of this generation.

Of course PS3 is going to sell a lot more the same month MSG4 was released. But even though it is one of PS3's biggest games it was still outsold by the Wii. That's not a good sign for the PS3. Next month expect PS3 sales to back to normal. As a matter of fact that seems to already be happening. According to the latest reports from Vgchartz the Wii is outselling the PS3 4 to 1 in Japan.

But the Wii is a fad. People buy it then don't play it. It just sits their collecting dusts. Wait until Kill Zone 7 or Uncharted 6 comes out, it's going to pwn the Wii. The Wii is not competing with the HD consoles. It has last gen graphics. Vgchartz is unreliable. Oh wait, this isn't vgchartz. The Wii is for only kids and centurians, no serious gamer would never play that cheap toy.

Sarcasm off.

I have a great time playing Mario Galaxy, Wario Ware, Metroid Prime, No More Heroes, Super Smash Bros Brawl, Zelda, Dr. Mario, Zack and Wiki, Elebits, and Lost Winds -- most are first party games.

For those who expected more good games from the Wii, did you guys really expect the Wii to have many good third party games this early in its lifecyle considering the Gamecube had lackluster third party support? If you did then you are not a smart hardcore gamer.

Third ...

I have the Wii and although it has a lot of garbage games, there are some unique games that are gems.

You Wii-haters have way too much time on your hands. When do you boys go back to school? LOL

Hahahaha. Close your eyes and cover your hears and scream "Na Na Na" all you want. It still doesn't change the fact that the Wii is the fastest selling console ever. NPD is going to report the same thing (if they haven't already).

Developers don't care about attachment rate. They care about sales in absolute numbers. Sheesh.

For instance a game can have an attachment rate of 50% selling 7 million on a console install base of 14 million. Another game can have an attachment rate of 10% selling 10 million on a console base of 100 million. Guess which one the developer would prefer to have?

Another fact: The Wii has sold more software in its first 18 months than any other console, including ...

I don't blame Nintendo for targeting casuals when the last two generation they targeted core games and got their butt kicked in sales. If Nintendo followed the same strategy of the last two generations by upgrading hardware and targeting core gamers you actually think the console would be as popular as the Wii? Not a fat chance. The truth is this is a business and Nintendo has to do what is necessary to keep afloat and not become another Sega.

That said, I think it's up for thi...

Well, what else can Nintendo do? The last 2 generations Nintendo tried to compete with Sony and Microsoft (last generation), and lost in when it comes to sales. Nintendo had to change their strategy to cater to casual gamers or be in last place again. It's all a matter of survival for Nintendo. It is in their best interest to expand the game industry since gaming is the only way they make their money as opposed to Microsoft and Sony which has other divisions to keep them going.

You don't know much about the industry. The masses are casual gamers and Nintendo is swooping them up in droves. Nintendo can focus on casual gamers for the rest of the generation and they will still sell as many Wiis they can manage to put on shelves.

I don't think Nintendo has completely abandoned the core gamers. I read that the Mario and Zelda teams are working on something. Factor 5 is rumored to be working on Kid Icarus. And Retro should be working on something for the co...

I think Nintendo is releasing this in response to the rumored motion controllers from Sony and Microsoft. They don't want to be out done if their motion controlls promise even more precision than the Wii-motes.

The Wii is not capable of knowing the absolute position of the Wii-mote - I don't think Nintendo has ever claimed 1-1 motion controls -, it only can know the relative position of it (unless when using the IR pointer). That is why we haven't had any 1:1 motion control ga...

He (or she) doesn't like the Wii so what. Different strokes for different folks. Not everyone shares the same taste.

The motion controls work fine depending on the game. In games such as MP3, Boom Blox, Elebits, and Zack and Wiki it works brilliantly with no lag.

I enjoy the Wii with games such as Elebits, SMG, No More Heroes, and SSBB.

I think the Wii is selling so well because it its innovative interface, it's accessible, wide appeal of games (...
