The Oath in Felghana is one of the best games in the franchise, and it's really cool that it is being ported to modern systems. Though I feel $30 is not a lot for this high-quality game, it is double the price of the original, which can still be purchased on Steam. bit

I mean, Microsoft is definitely not making things easy for those who were interested. Last year, they raised prices in a lot of regions. For example, Brazil saw an increase of 35% in the Series S price, making it actually more expensive than the PS5 Digital and close to double the price of the Switch.

Yep, 12 million sales on Steam, plus 7 million players on Xbox/PC Game Pass. The year has barely started and this is already a monster.

I would prefer a new IP from Naughty Dog, but at this point, I'll accept anything that is not a remake or a remaster.

I mean, they definitely fired what the corporate calls redundant positions. That is literally one of the first things that happens every time a company buys or absorbs another.

And it's really not that hard to understand. Every "support" role probably existed in both companies and basically did the same or a very similar job. So for the corporate overlords the question is why keep both departments if you can cut costs and allocate some personnel and all the wo...

Well, everything points to that being the next Xbox, whether it's the successor to the Series or just a refresh. Even the leaked device was a digital-only piece of hardware.

Not to mention that it makes complete sense with their GP strategy. The only thing going against them is the godawful way that Xbox consoles expand their storage.

That is around 7 million USD. If they earned $10 per copy sold (factoring in regional pricing, Steam cut, Epic cut, Microsoft cut, etc.), they have already made close to 5 times their budget in profits. That is really cool.

And 4 million sales. This is shapping up to be one of the largest releases of 2024.

Palworld is not free, It cost 30 usd. And the 3M figure reported by the publisher are total sales, we do not have data yet for how well it did on Gamepass.

And that is early access... though to be fair this sort of survival game does fit the system much better than others as the whole point is to just keep expanding.

This is a fairly interesting article that does summarize a bit of the history of this revenue type. But to answer the main question is a much simpler affair: While people will say in the internet that they hate GaaS games. The top revenue generating games are GaaS, so companies will try to have their own. Take Genshin Impact for example, that game alone generated more than 1.5 Billion USD in revenue during 2022. That is almost as much as the 1.9 Billion USD that Ubisoft as a whole generated t...

That is a very useless article.

The choice in question is quite straightforward: Do you want to create a singleplayer world or a multiplayer world? If someone need to "search" online for the correct answer to this question, they probably have much more severe issues that need to be adressed.

Well, it's a console exclusive. But yeah, it's looks like it's going to be a blast.

I like Halo, but I don't think there is any need for a 'Halo Killer' at this point. If anything, the franchise is slowly undermining itself by making some of the dumbest mistakes possible. Infinite has finally reached a good point in terms of multiplayer, but it took an extra 2 years to get there. Meanwhile, the single-player experience is fine but rather mediocre when compared to the franchise peak.

That said, I would like to see the Killzone franchise back, if...

Gamers often have this backward idea that if a studio launches something, people should automatically cater to it. In reality, it is exactly the opposite. A product has to engage with the market, and if there is no market, it is the company's job to foster one. However, Square Enix's strategy with Xbox is so full of inconsistencies that this just cannot happen.

Historically, many of their games have skipped the console since the Xbox 360 era. Even large series don&#...

I believe the main issue with releasing on Xbox is that the increase in sales will likely not be significant. Square Enix (SE) had the chance to foster a community on the platform during the Xbox/360 era, but their efforts were minimal and worsened during the Xbox One generation. This situation is not dissimilar to the PC, where SE titles, in general, also don't sell well. The culprit here is the poor treatment of the platform, with late ports, broken ports and literally exclusive to one ...

Okay, that is actually really surprising. I thought no one remembered this game. It was a very fun game indeed, and just as fun was the reviewers at the time complaining that it was not exactly like Harvest Moon.

Nah, bring Jesus to the fight and turn him into a warrior. Flatbread shuriken, wine infusion confusion, walking over water to avoid damage for a period of time, and finally, bitch-slapping everyone with a fish as the ultimate move

Ubisoft is a somewhat odd company to offer a subscription service since their games don't retain value. Typically, within a month or two, you can find them at significantly lower prices. Therefore, including new releases and DLC in the subscription is essentially their only method to justify the subscription cost and give it some semblance of value.
