Even if they added new content that game was originally developed for the Wii U and therefore the Switch version is a port. Maybe a "Deluxe" port like Mario Kart 8 but a port nevertheless.
Not really. The Wii U GPU suposed offer something around 0.350 Teraflops and the Switch when docked should be around 0.400 Teraflops. So that's only a 15% improvement in raw power.
That small improvement plus the faster memory and more modern architecture are the reassons why the Switch can run Wii U ports at better frame rates and bigger resolutions, but still struggles to offer 1080p in some ports like BotW and Pokken.
What the Switch really have ...
Even the Tegra X2 is not that powerful. According to Nvidia it offer up to 0.750 Teraflops in single-precision floating-point (FP32) so even if the Switch used a stock version of that SoC it would still be far from offering 1.0 Teraflops.
The Tegra family will most likely be able to deliver those number in the future, but right now they fall short.
The author made a really "noob" mistake when talking about the Switch. The console uses a Tegra X1 and this SoC in its stock form actually offers 512 Gigaflops or 0.512 Teraflops
But the one inside the Switch have it's clock speed customized (underclocked even when docked) so it ended up offering less than that. Most likely something between 0.350 and 0.450 Teraflops in docked mode and even less when undocked.
I imagine we will see more announcements in the coming months. But I also believe that they are not going to be AAA games but rather indies and "low budget titles" from japanese developers.
Being as strong as a PS4 would be impossible, but the Switch could have been more powerful if Nintendo opted for a Pascal based SoC and a more robust type of memory. But how much that would impact third party developers I can't really say, but it would impact the console launch date and made it more expensive.
Unlikely, Nvidia has already revealed the capabilities of the Tegra Parker (Pascal based ) and while it features a nice "50% boost" over the Maxwell based Tegra, it's still far from being equivalent to a PS4. Maybe in a 4 or 5 years we will see a new solution on this matter, but I doubt it will be based on the Pascal architecture.
@EatCrow
We are talking about accessibility in games for people with some kind of disability. Yes, there was a lot of Improvements in this regards in the last years, but there is still room for improvement without the need of a new tech. For example, the addition of custom color settings for the color blindness mode, could help those whose presets doesn't work, the addition of key binding (expecially in consoles) could help those who suffer with some kind of motor desability, etc...
Yeah, I do agree that gaming as a whole is not as accessible as it should, but I can not recall a single example of someone actively fighting against this type of inclusion.
Is pretty much this.
Also, a big part of the so called "harassement" as nothing more than trolls saying that they would go to the event dressed as "drags" to bypass the no boys allowed rule.
For those whot haven't played this game yet.
It is based on the Super Mario 64 formula (you have to visit the same worlds multiple times, but with different goals), the gameplay is very smooth and the characters move set is pretty good. You can play as either a boy or a girl (no difference besides the model) and the is a couple of minigames here and there as well.
My main issue with this games is it's dificult, or lack of it, a average player can complete...
It's a action RPG, with the combat being somewhat similar to what you can find a "Warriors" game.
Not a really good comparison, they took the Switch images from a trailer while the Xbox One S comes from gameplay itself, they also did not bother to recreate the same climate conditions on it shot and as seen in the second set of comparisons, the Switch resolution is all mess up.
But I really do believe that the Switch version is actually more similar to the RE than to the "normal" version. My only fear is that it might not hold the frame rate stable, but we wil...
Well, using nostalgia for selling a game is nothing new, Indies been doing so for at least a decade now as well as some big companies with their remakes and remasters.
It's pretty much impossible for a eroge to hit the console market, as far as I know all the three manufacturers don't allow AO (adult only) games to be published on their platforms. So even if a eroge somehow manages to get a console release, you can be sure that it will be heavily censored.
I do agree with you, but keep in mind that there is many places in the world where piracy dominates because there is really not a option to combat it. Even if the people do have money do pay for the original game, in some cases they are not officially or legally sold in that territory.
And it is not really impossible to happen. Right now, the original Voodoo Vince and Yooka-Laylee have the exactly same Metascore, 73%.
Anyway, Voodoo Vince is a pretty decent platformer for it's time, with some cool characters and surreal level design. The only "issue" that I had with it was the fact that as a platformer it failed to be unique, reusing most of the core mechanics from other titles in the genre without much improve.
But as no...
Hypothetically speaking? Yes, Square-Enix could carry Kingdom Hearts III to the Switch, just as she could carry any other game in their catalog.
But in practice, I imagine it to be somewhat more complicated, primarily because it seems that the agreements with Disney are quite specific on platforms and versions. And second, because despite running on Unreal 4, it would need to be well-optimized to run decently on the console, which would result in a big loss of visual fideli...
I would assume he is talking only about sales in Japan.
So the new DQ have to sell something about 5 million units to outsell both Pokemon S/M and FFXV. Still a pretty big task, but with 3 versions (PS4/3DS/Switch) it might accomplish that.
@Princess_Pilfer; Teraflops is a way of estimating the processing power of a unit or if you are talking about consoles the "raw power" of that unit. The reasson why you see Nvidia taking the lead in almost all benchmarks is because they use their tech in a "smarter way" than Amd.
Nvidia optimization is historically better, as well as driver support and access to unique enterprise-wide technologies that make AMD users' lives more complicated. A classi...
