@TheProfessional
Of maybe it has nothing to do with greed and everything to do with the poor global economic situation we are in? Nintendo charged more for an OLED screen and a paltry 32 GB expansion to the base model's storage. Was that worth $50 dollars 5 years after launch? Get real!
The economy is in the gutter thanks to inflation and that means things cost more. It's also why PCs don't cost less than PS5 never mind the new pro. Most desktops as pow...
It's not meant to replace PS5.
That is what they always think.
AMD is doing that too now... so maybe everyone is fleecing everyone, or the economy is poor driving prices up due to inflation.
"'Just get a gaming PC' is the refrain echoing all across the internet in response to the console's unveiling, and while I am contractually obliged to repeat this sentiment, it is also just broadly good advice. PC gaming has never been in such a good state: the walls between consoles and PC have been torn down, and now we get all the games. Well, all the games that aren't published by Nintendo. And while we still get some dodgy ports, it's impossible to ignore the per...
The Pro isn't even available for pre-order yet.
I hope we still have discs but if games are 150GB or more a pop, then they won't be on discs anymore anyway.
Oh my gosh a sane take!
Where the heck am I?
"I’m disappointed and pissed."
Why? This is a value added upgrade. If games run well for you, it's totally unnecessary. The global economy is bad. PS, MS, Nintendo amongst every other manufacturer isn't even going to pretend to take a financial hit to please anyone's pocket book.
@DodoDojo
I was fine with the rumored price because I know how the economy works.
Though, I can't explain the Japanese and European pricing when the dollar trades worse than the Euro and better than Yen.
@jambola
Nah, man, he's right. I'm get a Pro because unlike you lot I love gaming and PS is the only one giving back in ways you are so stuck up in not understanding that you'd rather have the entire industry collapse because of how you feel than understanding the reality why PC parts cost more Switch OLED and base model PS5 and Xbox Series consoles are all $50 more expensive than at launch.
Some people do need to grow up. You are amongst them.

@bartfart
Those were different sentences dude. He didn't say PS inflation.
He said, "...PS[.]
Inflation..."
@Michiel1989
Games made for PS5 right now come to PS4 years later. They're not made with PS4 in mind and this might happen with PS5 Pro as well, but that does not mean PS5 Pro will hold back PS6 in the same way PS5 and PS4 Pro aren't holding back PS5 now.
@DustMan
Gaming is a luxury. You don't need it and the people saying PS5 Pro is more expensive are so dumb they are literally arguing that you should spend more than twice as much for a PC. So, like which is it, is PS5 Pro too expensive or no?
Likewise there are people arguing like Pro is too expensive and that PS5 will cease to exist... IT WON'T. PS5 is being sold along Pro. So there is that option, in addition to that the dummies are arguing that PS5 Pro ...
A $400 console is fine. The only real reason PS5 Pro is $700 is because of inflation. You don't like it. Stop voting for morons that will increase government spending and drive property values up and increase property taxes and destroy energy independence and so on and so forth.
If the economy was healthy PS5 would cost $350 by now and the PS5 Pro would be launching at base model's launch MSRP. The economy globally is in the toilet and even with GBP trading better t...
PlayStation devs did that once.
Killzone to Horizon... oh, wait, that's a horrible example because both franchises have different PoV and are great while this looks... well we really don't know how it will actually look as we only had a short 5-ish minute demo to go off of which ironically was mostly shown in the 3rd person.
This game is supposed to ship on Xbox and PC before this year ends and all we have is some very short clips of gameplay and ...
And also Loco Roco!
Oh, right, no one cares about that franchise, except me.
That's the beauty of PS5 Pro. The Pro enhances graphics only. Devs need to hop aboard GPU compute for 60FPS now and rely on PSSR for 4K. If devs do this every console game will be 60FPS regardless of platform.
I'm guessing it is the DualSense Edge that makes them the most profit per unit sold.
How are you being ripped off if the PS5 slim and likely the PS5 Pro don't need the stand... to stand?
That means you don't need to spend $30!
