Should've used a memory card... wait you could migrate your account to the memory cards like on Wii, right? PS2 only allowed wifi information to be saved and PS3 wouldn't allow migration of such data at all (at least before PSN was well established, after that you could set up an alternate user on a friends PS3 and migrate data by logging into your PSN).

"Native software support" just means software will run without anything extra.

It means Digital Foundry is straight-up lying when they claim Xbox One/Series natively support Xbox/360 games. If that were the case you could pop in any Xbox/360 game into Xbox One/Series and they'd run without an internet connection which is required to download the repackaged game app.

Sure Xbox has anywhere from 718 to 740 Xbox/360 games to play on new Xbox co...

DF doesn't know what "native support" means... it doesn't seem like you know either. Native support can mean emulation, but meaning the original hardware is not required, but it also means no downloads. "Native support" means that nothing additional is required to run the software as intended. You can certainly call a software emulation layer on PS3 for PS1 games native support because it ran software from the disc needing absolutely nothing else to work properly. ...

PS4 did not have "off the shelf parts rather than proprietary innovative components" in fact the sole reason PS4 has video recording is because PS included proprietary innovative components. It's also why PS4 Pro was handing in better results than Xbox One X in some games too even though Xbox One X had a larger on paper advantage than PS4 had with Xbox One/S (and also PS5/XSX). PS never uses off-the-shelf components. That was always what Xbox did. They claim they basically jamme...

@Kneetos
"...no one cares about graphics, and no one cared about frame rates till Sony started prioritising 60+ fps[.]"

If that were even true, PS2 is when 60FPS became a normal target for PS games not PS5. Basically every game I own on PS2 targets and largely sticks to 60FPS. At this point PS1 and PS3 are the anomalies with even those systems having numerous 60FPS games however uncommon. On PS2 we have all the Ace Combat games (the holy trinity), Ratchet...

DF... the same people convinced PS5 and Xbox Series consoles couldn't do raytracing? The same people who didn't consider PS4 Pro was running AC7 better than Xbox One X due to PS4 Pro's CPU rapid packed math feature while I was telling them to look into it? The same people that are still confused about the PS5's capabilities against XSX's despite all the information being handed to them on a silver platter by Mark Cerny which some smarter gamers with some programming experi...

1. Without Gabe Newell PC gaming would already be dead. Who else would've taken up the slack and make something like Steam? To this day nothing quite like it exists anywhere else on the world wide web (at least comparing it against any other multiplatform, software only, fully digital storefronts that I know exist).

2. Lol, you act like he made Pokémon, CoD, or GTA. Lots of games are similar and even Tetris (one of the longest running franchises he has credits in) ...

If he can't even begin to fix it, how does he know it's even wrong?

Adaptive triggers do not work across the board in all PC games I'm not sure why all the sudden everyone is acting like they do just because all of PS ports on PC support them only.when the controller is wired up. Ask me how I know.

The touch pad not working on PC is a miss too, especially since it works on phones when DS4 or DualSense is connected via BT (probably when wired too, but I don't wire my controllers to my phone).

If DualSense was supported natively on an OS or per game basis on PC in basically all games the same way Xbox Controllers are. It would be my go to controller on PC. I already prefer DualSense to DS4 to play PS4 games and to play games on my phone, PC is the next frontier for PS controller dominance... again.

If gamers wanted this... they would have purchased the BC PS3 more than the non-BC PS3. PS gamers voted with their wallets over 13 years ago now. Xbox and Nintendo didn't even give their customers an option, but in Xbox's defense they currently offer the largest library of BC games via emulation and if you own those game discs you can play the emulated versions at no extra cost.

In fact Nintendo comes out as the bad guy here because they don't even honor prior d...

Sony isn't spending much time on this. They seem to have contracted the developer Implicit Conversions to handle these BC ports to PS4 and PS5. If PS spent the time to do this themselves I'm sure they could do the same or better. The thing is this isn't native BC. It's just like Xbox and Nintendo emulation now; all in software. I am hopeful that PC is working on native PS3 BC, but I'm not going to hold my breath for it.

PS5 doesn't have native PS1-PS3 BC. That's the difference dude and if you knew that you wouldn't have written what you did.

Xbox made 718 to 740 BC Xbox and Xbox 360 games work for Xbox One and Xbox Series consoles over almost 15 years. Only 61 original Xbox games are available via Xbox's BC program the rest are Xbox 360 titles.

PS had over 200 PS1 games and 59 PS2 games available for download on PS3 according to Wikipedia and none feature...

Low res? They're higher resolution than PS2 HD ports. Didn't *DF also mention that in this clip?
Everyone acts like this is all standard in emulation but it isn't. Most of these are mods and some just managed to work their way into the overlaying emu software which is why most emus offer per-game settings profiles.

No emulator is perfect we only hear about the pluses and never about the drawbacks.

Indeed I watched Mystic compare Sly Cooper across PS2, PS3, PS4, and PS5, and wouldn't you know it, but the PS5 version looked the sharpest and ran as well as the PS2 version.

All these games are ported by Implicit Conversions who uses their own Syrup Engine to repack these games as their own emulated versions. Yeah, I wish PS had their own emulator like they used to (which were effectively perfect software emulations), but it's clear that no one actually values BC ...

And then there's GT7. It relies only on reflections... which creates all the other lighting phenomenon including bounce lighting or global illumination. Of course GT7 only deploys that system at 30FPS and people think that makes it not worth it. In reality there are many other games that deploy it without issues even at 60FPS like Fortnite which everyone ignores is a F2P 60FPS UE5 game with RT on consoles.

The smart deployment of RT makes it worthwhile. Even in a game l...

I'm guessing Xbox Wireless will be a streaming system like PS Portal. And yes I fully expect their portable Xbox to be given a really stupid name like "Wireless." Maybe even a dumber name like the Xbox Series W.
