not a good year for launches. bummer.
2014: the year of underdeveloped infrastructure.
umm what? xbl is a lot more reliable than psn... by a lot. having both consoles affords you the luxury of experiencing that firsthand comparison thing. unless you mean "free" games which sure, ps+ often times has good games but the problem is when you stop paying, you stop playing. xbl on the other hand actually gives you the games, subscribed or not. so seems they both have drawbacks and advantages.
sadly its true.
probably for the best. that game was a huge disappointment and ubi might learn something from this.
agreed. i gave up on COD but this one seemed worth a try. glad i picked it up.
you can't? how did all those other racing games with online components do it? still haven't had one problem on fh2.
is there anything that people don't get worked up for these days?
agreed. i bought both the x1 and the ps4 at launch. I am by definition an early adopter. I do the same thing with smartphones and various other types of electronics. i don't by any means feel shafted because as an early adopter you kind of assume that things will get cheaper or that deals will come along as the technology ages or becomes more mainstream. i don't mind because I am paying to have my experience sooner rather than later. Now if I bought an x1 and the very next day...
@getsome:
Edited comment but sure. You just proved my point. The x1 doesn't need more, just good - quality vs quantity. In MY opinion the exclusives I am mostly interested in are on x1. Not because I'm a fanboy, but because it just happens to work out that way based on my tastes, not brand preference. We don't need big lists that sub in for stat sheets subtly implying there are tons of games coming. Trust me, I want a good exclusive on ps4 cuz aside from a few gam...
I think people who are violent are violent with or without video games. If you could go and shoot someone or whatever, that capability is there regardless of whether you play something like gta. One study suggested that as video games become more realistic, some people actually become more morally centered because they feel wrong or guilty shooting up characters in video games. I think it just comes down to the person and how they are wired. This is no different than rock music or movies bein...
More isn't better. I'm not really interested in any of those titles except for tomorrow children and maybe the order but apparently that game isn't very fun to play either so... Uncharted will be amazing but it might not even release in 2015 so... Either love multiplats or indies I guess cuz that's what's keeping it afloat.
well... you could do a lot with procedural textures, bump and normal mapping, as well as some degree of material displacement. All of the detail doesn't have to come from the geometry. You just typically want higher poly counts when edges need to be more rounded.
well... geometry wars should be fun. loved 1 and 2.
Thats because in addition to its technical flaws, DC is just an ok game. Even with perfect servers it should only be a 7.5 at best. Its just missing too much depth on top of broken servers. Halo on the other hand is an IP that set a precedent.
ahh almost there myself.
Its the Xb1's Driveclub. Not a huge Halo fan personally but this sucks for the people that were really waiting for it. I got it for free so I felt obligated to at least check it out but the multiplayer was pretty much unusable.
I freaking love this game.
Its important to note that racing sims are preferred to run at 60 fps because the physics engine can only update the physics refresh as fast as frames are printed to the screen. Its fine for Driveclub or FH2 to run at 30fps because they aren't doing really intensive sim (or using canned). For something like Forza 5, Gran Turismo or Project Cars, 60 fps stops being a superficial visual treat and more actually impacting the performance of the game itself.
personally i think people considering this on the wii had the luxury of seeing this bullet coming for miles and were easily able to dodge it. i do think nintendo needs stronger 3rd party support, however. it seems to be the bulk of content on the other consoles and you can only stuff Mario, Link and Donkey Kong into so many IP's before people start wondering what else is out there. Its a shame. I really wanted the post Wii console to shine, and it probably still could with support.
