you can when they come at a priority over being a good game. great graphics are expensive, they take a lot of time, resources and talented devs/designers/artists. when those take precedence over the mechanics, gameplay, story, creative process the game suffers. it suffers beautifully, but suffers nonetheless. that was the case with drive club, and thats the case with the order.
i'm all for great graphics as much as anybody but when all the hype is polygon counts, shader...

Sunset overdrive is actually fun though. And while it doesn't look as good as the order, it's still a pretty good looking game with its stylized graphics. i don't really care about the length (within reason) as long as its fun. i know its going to look amazing but if i'm just sitting there watching game cinematics that tie into QTEs and then I'm not going to have that much fun. if its got some of that but lots of nice cover style shooting, exploring, puzzles etc - even if its like gears of war - then its probably going to be great..

Games also didn't cost as much to make as they do now. Games take way longer to make now. They require more people to make them. Competition is high so talent (both in game, designers, devs, animators etc) cost more to book etc. AAA game production is closer to movie production now. Back in the day you could have a team of 10-20 people making a game that consisted of a few graphics people and coders etc. now you need texture painters, HDR systems, actors, modelers, concept designers, moti...

TLOU is a great game but not the only great game… and it was great on the PS3 too. There are a number of great PC games not on the PS4 either. just because it doesn't line up with your brand lust doesn't mean its click bait. i happen to agree. and not just the ps4. the xbox too. the xb1 is doing a better job at getting features back from the 360 but still both consoles were rushed to market.

well...I just got the dreaded invalid email address problem when trying to sign in to psn on my ps4. i had to contact support. they didn't explain what happened but required me to supply a new email address and told me i could no longer use the email address i was using. suspiciously a day or 2 before that I received an email from sony asking to confirm a password change. that was a surprise to me. they refused to tell me why i couldn't use the same email address anymore. i know...

how about lets just judge it good or bad until it comes out and people have actually played the full, finished product.... this seems to be a trend. everybody knows how good their consoles unreleased exclusives will be and how bad the other persons console exclusives will be. people also also defend their unreleased console exclusive they haven't even played against people that have played it in trade shows or whatever other venue and they defend each stance unnecessarily mean spirited...
I don't know why people get so worked up on either side. People play it at conferences; some people like it, some people don't. People that have never even played it take issue with the people who have played it and didn't find it that enjoyable. They are labeled fanboys or called names. That's small minded and we should all be more discerning when giving business our money. What's the expression? Vote with your wallet?
