I really want to see the Wii U version.

I agree, but it's true that many of us do whine and don't understand the issues that cause certain decisions to be made. The whining, ignorant crowd has become an easy scapegoat for some developers to hide their criticism-worthy decisions behind though.

Well to be realistic, that's what all 'Next Gen' consoles will be accomplishing since most people don't even have a 1080p tv yet. Let alone something of higher resolution like a PC monitor. At best all we can hope for are bigger, more crisp, solid frame rate, games with more realistic physics.

I don't think we've seen anything that clearly surpasses what's onPS3 and 360, but Zombi U is a launch game, and anyone who's really taken a good look at those graphics knows that they are damned good. How powerful is the Wii U? Can't say for sure, but it's very capable. I really want to know how capable though so I can feel assured that 3rd party games that will also be on say for instance PS4 in 2015 will be possible, even if at a lesser but quality HD resolution.

What a candid and interesting piece. Props.

A concerted effort? I mean I know MS is a U.S. company, but in general, we don't even make much of anything here in America anymore unfortunately. Articles like this are written to provoke a response. Staunch agreement by those who never plan on buying a Wii U, and want their favorite company's next console to 'win', and Staunch disagreement by those who plan on buying a Wii U, or support Nintendo in general.

Or perhaps the more likely situation is that they already had this planned for the Wii U a few years ago when Nintendo gave EA one of the first Wii U dev kits...

To be fair, at the current price of the 3DS Nintendo is only just now starting to make a profit again, so there's no way they can offer it for $90 any time soon. But I hear you. It's frustrating when they don't tell you what the specs are, you buy their machine, an independent group does a tear down, and you realize that they are making like $80 profit on a machine that you had to scrape and make sacrifices in order to buy - and the tech is archaic.

The other poin...

If the Wii U is comparable tech-wise to current gen consoles, or if it isn't much more expensive to make, then people don't want to pay much more for it than what is currently being charged for this gen consoles. Plain and simple.

If it was a situation where Nintendo didn't try to feed off of the perception that they are offering more than what their tech allows them to offer then specs wouldn't matter as much because people would KNOW that they aren't bei...

People don't want to get ripped off. We want to know the specs because we want to decide for ourselves whether or not:

1. What's under the hood of the Wii U merit's the cost Nintendo decides on.

2. We should bother investing in a new console after many of us bought two and three consoles this generation. Times are tough, and I for one, can't afford to buy all three again at launch price, and I'd rather not buy all three if possible.

While a November release seems likely since we still don't have much info on this thing and there will have to be time after the announcement of price and releases date, I think it is a big mistake for Nintendo to miss an October release since games like Assassins Creed 3 are coming out then. It takes a special and determined decision to wait an extra month like that for people who own the other HD consoles. Most people won't make that decision I think, and a great game and 3rd party ...

I hear you. I'm an old school Mario player myself, and I was able to get all of the coins without too much trouble. I most definitely couldn't say that it wasn't a challenge though.

Getting every star with both Mario and Luigi on Super Mario Galaxy 1 was definitely more challenging than getting every coin in NSMBWii. I'm just saying that the latter shouldn't be classified as not hard enough. But even so, there are all manner of skill levels out there. I do...

If your goal in playing these games is the simple point A to point B which is these game's base, then sure it's not very hard. Try getting every big coin on every NSMBWii level without getting help from a strategy guide or online, and still make a claim that it needs to be harder.

Point A to point B ranges anywhere from easy to pretty challenging on these games. Adding in the added challenge of not dying while getting these obscurely placed and hidden coins makes the ...

Sounds a little bit obsessive compulsive. Probably gives him some great insight though.

Wii was the first Nintendo console that didn't seek to be greater than or equal to competitors in raw power. So while of course as always they sought the biggest install base possible, but they did in fact try to go about it differently, and that did alienate some fans.

That being said, I refer to my other post. The year of extra wait for the N64 was the snowball effect catalyst.

God I loved this game. Still play it from time to time.

The bottom line problem in my mind regarding Nintendo's 'Hardcore' gamer abandoning them issues is that people had to wait WAY too long for the N64, and in the meantime, Sony stole their thunder with the PS1. Then once the N64 did come out and got going a bit in spite of its still using cartridges, and PS1 dominance, the PS2 came along, and took things to the next level. That time, Nintendo was forced to wait yet again before tying to compete by releasing the GameCube because they...

Not that it makes me happy, or that I would as of now support them, but if Apple gets into the dedicated gaming console business, all of our current favorites are in trouble to at least some degree. One out of the current big 3 probably won't even survive unfortunately...
