How would that force them to focus on quality and innovation. Microsoft and Sony don't hold their 3rd parties to any kind of quality. Look at all the messed games that came out this fall. Look at all the annualized franchises that barely change a thing. Going 3rd party wouldn't force any kind of improvement in quality or innovation. It would more than likely do the opposite.
Lol I love the disagrees with a question. I just wanted to know what games were liked that didn't intersect with the wii U. And that awesome list did not disappoint.
Funny all of the people asking to define success. In the business scope obviously not just because every business wants to maximize profit and market share. From a gamer perspective it is completely subjective. People reference 3rd party support but honestly I would be a pretty upset if I only had one of any console or just a PC right now. There is a must play game on or coming out for every platform for me and most of those must plays are not 3rd party to be honest. All nintendo needs to foc...
Just out of curiosity, if you don't like most of the software on wii u, what are you playing on 3DS?
I don't think (I could be wrong) the article is suggesting that you own it exclusively. They are just saying there are a good batch of games coming to wii u this year if you are interested and it would be a great time to jump in even if you have a X1/PS4. I own all 3 and honestly would never be satisfied with the content of any one console out now, even considering multiplats. I know it is different for everyone though.
The article is basically suggesting picking a wii u up as well as a X1/PS4, not as a replacement. You may not want to fork over the money, but when you own multiple consoles/PC you don't miss out.
The article is basically assuming you have a PS4 or X1 already (by your list I assume PS4) and is suggesting picking the wii u up as a secondary, so you wouldn't be missing out on those games. Rather you just might not want to spend the money on the console. I have all 3 so I don't miss out on any and I love it.
Just wanted to say I read through all parts of your blog and thought it was very well written. I agree with a number of points you are making. I of course would love Disney and Nintendo to finally hold hands and walk off into the spirit world together. I am sure the thought has crossed the minds of management on both sides and I would kill to be a fly on the wall for those discussions because it would be fascinating to hear. I read an opinion from polygon that discusses this same thought, and...
"Show me a game on Wii-U that looks better then Uncharted 3, Heavy Rain or Beyond Two Souls.. Oh wait there isn't a single game on the Wii-U that comes even close to any of those games graphically.
FACT: A Last-Gen console should never have better looking games then a "Current-Gen" console.
And you keep telling yourself the Wii-U is Current-Gen, whatever you Nintendo Fanboys have to tell yourselves to help you sleep at night.. But we all ...
I agree with you in a lot of your points. There is definitely an importance to absorbing risk of developers, especially indies, and as eyeforce said Nintendo is doing that in a number of ways.. I think this past fall should be a big wake-up call to the parallels that do exist in the 80's crash to the big budget game space.
I applaud Sony for their drive with indies, and I think they set the standard for that right now, but I definitely agree with the author in that we hav...
Just to answer your question above, the main thing that Nintendo fanboys would talk about after this fall is how their games consistently have less issues with quality (not buggy, MCC, LBP). But I am mostly playing devil's advocate here because I think the muttering of fanboys is bad where ever it comes from.
I'm pretty damn excited about this game now.
I think a balance is both is what makes a great lineup of games. I want to play with some established characters that I love (halo 5, LOZ, Uncharted) but also looking at games like RIME, Wild, Splatoon, and Ori and the Blind Forest. But I see what you are saying.
Looks like it has promise, but personally I'm more excited for RIME
You must have missed the star fox and 2 new IP announcement. Not to mention that miyamoto said there won't be another big console mario until the new console comes out. You are wrong in your complaint, you just picked a really late time to make it.
While I agree they are overdoing it, I hope that you were making these comments when it was a wii u is dead article everyday.
No sacrilege mate you like what you like! My tastes are probably a bit broader because I like games on every platform library I have encountered so far.
You are right. Funny how it is always polarized. It used to be all "wii u is dead" and now it is "you should buy one". I'm wondering if there will ever be an article titled "I recommend the wii u, but it's up to you if you wanna buy one." that hits the middle ground.
I like how you pointed out that you have to try it first like that isn't something you should try to do with every game.
lol core gamers turned their backs on them with the gamecube...
