Sorry I wasn't clear. By ready to show I meant a solid marketing message. When the wii u released the marketing was terrible and confusing. Honestly if they had taken time to get their messaging in a good place the wii u launch may have gone better (though not to say it could have completely changed their situation). I think they can't be too cautious when it comes to how they will messaging because it has hurt them in the past so they should take all the time they need to make sure t...
Having exposure for a product that isn't ready to show is worse than not showing anything. Everyone saying this is a bad move isn't considering the fact that Nintendo simply may not be ready to show anything yet for NX and there is nothing left to show other than Zelda for wii u. Their last E3 was really bad and they clearly don't have anything yet to make this one better so better they not try to fill time with people singing mario tunes like last year.
That may not be the question at all. For all we know Nintendo may have just done a large amount of hiring to go along with restructuring their consoles and handheld divisions to be together. They are good at keeping that stuff under wraps.
Well the console sounds cool and I would love a new luigi's mansion. I'm already on board but will of course take these rumors with a boulder of salt. If the claim that "NX game support is already set to dwarf the wii u's support" is true then that's definitely a good thing.
Easy money and pretty good considering the microtransaction stuff is actually not at the forefront at all.
Lol it is funny to try to figure out how Sony will respond to something without even knowing what that something even is.
At the end of the day I think the devs at Nintendo should make what they are inspired to make. I don't know why so many people feel they have something to prove by needed their franchises to age with them. Nintendo's games strike a balance of approachability with some great hidden depth for those who want to pursue it ( like any Zelda or the game mechanics of smash bros.) the same way Pixar movies do and nobody is asking for an R-rated Pixar movies so why should Nintendo? Now if Ninte...
What should be more alarming to you (and other console gamers) isn't the fact that 11-16 year olds don't care about Nintendo, but the fact that 6-10 year olds don't care about consoles as much in general. My work takes me to different schools and a trend that I see more and more every year is that kids don't have consoles, and the ones who mainly play on console do so because their older siblings have one. Most I have talked to don't want them because they game on mobile. ...
No they are not. Obviously it is important to them and they want it to succeed for company and investors sake, but to say they are banking on the NX is the wrong term. Nintendo is preparing for the worst case scenario of NX not doing well. That is why they are releasing games on mobile, investing on theme park representation for their IP's, investing in television and manga, and eventually working on QOL initiatives. They are diversifying their business because they know they may not be a...
Judging by the comments I guess nobody read the actual article. The author didn't say anything about consoles being dead and is just speculating about the NX having a portable device that can plug into a home unit and add processing power when it is plugged in.
There are plenty of analysts in this industry who are right more often and don't rely on overly negative attention grabbing statements. Patcher isn't necessary at all.
To be honest Nintendo probably gave a ton of money. The first one only sold 500k across all platforms so they probably didn't make a lot of money so they pretty certain their financial staff made sure they would make enough from Nintendo to get the game so they could forego what they would make in the profit of selling the game multiplatform. Just like Bayonetta 2 I doubt Nintendo expects it to sell all that well but the only reason to own a console is exclusives so they figure it is one ...
You can tell by the language during the briefing that they are expecting mobile games to do more of the financial refreshing. And I assume they will do just that.
If they do release the portable unit this year, I hope they launch with a new pokemon for the 20th anniversary. That would be a great launch game in my opinion.
Well a lot of rumors are predicting the NX portable unit will launch by end of the year. If that is true I wouldn't be surprised if they were hoping to include a new Pokemon with it which would be a superb launch title. I'm okay with getting one this year since we didn't get one in 2015.
lol if anything that is better then regular DLC. When you normally buy DLC you just get the DLC. With this you get DLC and at best an awesome collectors item and at worst a figure you don't want and can sell for money (possibly for more than it cost to get the DLC in the first place).
If NX fails then I believe Nintendo would double down on mobile and try to become the dominate quality software maker for phones and tablets. Mobile gaming revenues are growing and are expected to pass console revenues. If Nintendo markets their games well and really develops to for what works well on the platform, then they definitely can stand to make a lot more money on mobile than going 3rd party. The margins are smaller on mobile, but you also have to consider that the top selling mobile...
Probably because mobile revenues are growing in a space that is competitive but not gushing with quality. Nintendo is starting to dip their toe by releasing games this year, but have the potential to be a dominant force on that platform if they release standout quality software and market it well. Makes more sense than going 3rd party because there is more money to be made on mobile than on consoles. This is all of course if the NX doesn't make its way to a profitable space.
Soo....Kinect?
Smart choice indeed.
