lol well I guess hell has frozen over because Patcher said something positive about Nintendo. Still will wait until I hear from devs who have or will work with the platform and will take this with a grain of salt just like all of his other claims good or bad.
I agree that the answer is yes and no. The thing is from the moment we knew this could be taken on the go, we knew it wouldn't be as powerful as a home console. The problem for Nintendo from a marketing perspective, at least for people like the one's on this site, is that clearly nobody in this group is capable of thinking of this thing in its own unique segment as a hybrid. They will constantly compare it with home consoles even though it really isn't either home or handheld. For...
Since the Wii U sold so little it would be silly to not put ports of wii u games that a lot of players likely missed to pad the launch. The key point there needs to be new games in addition to those ports. The launch lineup is still a mystery despite rumors so we will see what they come up with.
I'm not much of one for this mid-cycle upgrade culture. I already have a PS4 so saving for the Switch should be easy. Especially if the $250 price rumor is true and considering it will be launching as people are getting their tax refunds (at least here in the US).
I have 3 other platforms that can play current 3rd party games and I can't take any of them with me (not easily anyway) when I travel for work. The Switch will be a nice addition to my collection.
The delusion is thinking that if Nintendo stops making hardware they will make games for other consoles. They will stick to mobile. Development costs are much lower and with any half decent marketing they can stand out amongst the sea of mediocrity currently on the platform. Margins are lower but they are dealing in the 100 million-billion range for users so it makes up for it. Why even bother making an expensive AAA game at all for consoles that maybe will make its money back while having to...
kinda weird that PC players say the same thing about consoles. This hardware war stuff is a waste of everyone's time
Nintendo wasn't bragging about specs with the gamecube back when they actually had specs to brag about so I doubt they would now
I'm down with that price if true.
That's a good approach to take. One thing that has me a little more positive this time around is that Bethesda is no nonsense about who they support. They were asked about supporting wii u before and after and said a clear no both times. So to see them on the list and even in the trailer does make a statement. Always good to be cautious though so we will see how it plays out.
Wondering if that projector patent is going to come into play
Maybe this is not for you...Maybe it is for the 60 million people who bought a 3ds or any number of people (especially in the large transit commuter population in Japan) who want quality gaming on the go. Nintendo isn't forcing you to do anything. There are two other competitive consoles with great games and PC gaming you can play as alternatives. Nintendo doesn't owe you anything.
Someone on a blog here on N4G called this being a thing in their next console around the wii u's launch. I'm kicking myself because I can't remember who now but if this truly becomes a thing then kudos to that person for getting it right.
How did you like Codename Steam?
@Kwietstorm they didn't. Miyamoto said at the apple event it will be a set price game with not microtransactions not free to start.
Well there are way more Nintendo handheld gaming players than console players (with a large assumed amount of overlap) if you go by the sales of every Nintendo handheld vs Nintendo console since the gameboy. Why wouldn't they cater to that audience more with a hybrid setup when that is the larger audience. That being said, we don't know if they are in fact using the supplemental computing from their patent in the dock of the system when used at home. Not to mention that the same sourc...
One thing is for sure. If this really combines the handheld and console libraries, NX will be a great platform to have for JRPG fans.
Technically Mario is a more popular brand than pokemon and is the only IP they have that outsells pokemon overall. Pokemon Go obviously is shifting those numbers, but we also haven't seen Mario on mobile yet.
If they are ever at the point that they can't make money off of consoles, they will go full mobile becuase putting all their focus there gives them more earning potential than putting some focus on mobile and some making games for other consoles. It is still technically 3rd party, just not in the way you hope.
There is for me. I have a long flight the day after launch and thanks to the USB ports on the plane I will be playing out Zelda Botw. Plus I am fortunate enough to have money to get all the platforms that have games I want. I understand why you wouldn't though because there is enough concern to take a wait and see approach.
