Maybe they should stop repeatedly trying to CPR Sonic and give us fresh entries in series SEGA has been sitting on for years instead, or just give us new IPs. That would solve the problem.
How about reserving them for games that don't cost full retail price? That's an understatement actually. How about reserving them for games that don't cost more than a few dollars? I'd like to say for games that are free to download. That's why MTs are known for being part of the "F2P formula". They don't belong in AAA titles.
Whether it's gambling or not isn't the issue here. Devs should not charge full retail price for a game and then turn around and try to profit from us again by using a technique created for F2P games. That type of game uses MTs because that's how profits are made. With full retail releases, there's the initial price of admission. If a dev wants to profit further from such a game, they can provide us with some DLC that gives us more worthwhile content. How is this so hard f...
The base model PS4 is more powerful than its Xbox counterpart, but Sony's focus this gen has been on games first and foremost. That's something MS just didn't get and I doubt they ever will. As for me, I think power and graphics are nice, but access to exclusives is even nicer, so I'll pass on the purchase of a $500 machine to play a portion of the same games I can play anyways without having to spend that money.
MS has addressed the problem of their system lagging behind on power, but that was never its main problem.
It's true that online multiplayer is really popular nowadays, but lots of people still play singleplayer titles, many of which are linear. The vast majority of localized Japanese games and what studios like Naughty Dog and Quantic Dream generally produce come to mind. Besides, a studio like Visceral could have just been tasked with creating a sandbox type game as their next IP instead of just outright closing the studio. Either that, or given the number of popular singleplayer linear ...
I wouldn't say Nintendo stole the show from Sony, who has shone throughout the entire year. However, they deserve some props for the best comeback. Nintendo was like an old friend with declining health, and now they're back and better than ever. I still think Sony won 2017 overall, but I think old Ninty managed to top MS at least.
Actually, the notion that an AO rated title won't sell well is extremely outdated. That may have been true in the 90s, but most gamers are adults now, and it has been that way for a while. In most circumstances it would be beneficial for studios to stop fearing an AO rating. We'd see a lot less censorship for one. Heck, it's almost guaranteed that the first title to actually use such a rating would sell a lot for the novelty alone. On the other hand, we may have actually stum...
Well, power has its benefits and I think they're pretty clear...but it's all worthless if it can't play nearly as many games as its rival systems.
Wow, I completely forgot about this game, but I don't know why. It looks pretty lit. Maybe it's because there are so many great exclusives already, but I hope this one hasn't fallen by the wayside.
This BS again? How is one popular game going to kill off a type of game that spans way too many genres and provides so many different kinds of experiences it's not even funny? PUBG is a solid title, and one that appeals to fans of its type and genre, but it's not going to wipe the board clean of those other types of equally valid experiences that gamers may decide to seek out. Also, have you been following new and upcoming releases? Call me if you ever see absolutely no singleplay...
If by a fresh direction you think Sonic should retire, then yes. SEGA has other franchises that could do with more attention and the potential to wow us with great new IPs. Sure, there's Hatsune Miku and Valkyria Chronicles, but we could see more SEGA properties make a comeback if they weren't constantly trying to CPR Sonic.
I'm in the modern classic camp. Sure, the open world aspect sucks, as does getting from point A to point B, but just let your partner drive and enjoy the cases. I swear, I binged on this game when I first played it. Its definitely one of Rockstar's most underrated titles.
I've long since made peace that I'll never finish all the games in my backlog, and I still buy new games, like all the time. Once in a while too, I also go back and play old favourites, as counterproductive as that sounds, and I don't rush through games the first time around either. People can recommend games to me that I actually already own and just haven't played yet. Yeah, I might have a problem.
I still have physical PS2 games in my backlog, lol. ...
Are any of those reasons actual upcoming exclusives that I can't get off Steam?
Who trades in their systems unless new upgraded console or a new gen comes around? Actually, I don’t even trade in consoles for new gens. It’s how I have something that’s starting to resemble a game collection, though I still have a long way to go. You can bet if I had a Switch I’d keep it around.
Wait, there was privacy on the internet at one point in time? I must have missed that because I don't remember that ever being a thing. I do agree that business and morals don't exactly go hand in hand. Environmentalists in the US are seeing that firsthand. There are certainly worse things out there than MTs in videogames, but lately they have been used to gouge the consumer and I don't think the majority care much for it.
Well, as a core gamer it's always unacceptable to me if an entire genre passes me by. It doesn't have to turn out to be my favourite as long as I've given it a try. Too bad this particular genre is mostly locked away in Japan, and though dating sims and romantic visual novels are starting to be localized or indie developed for Western audiences, it's almost exclusively the otome variety, and we can pretty much forget things like dubs or physical releases. Still, I'm gla...
Well, "us dinosaurs" aren't wrong. I actually do think DLC is a great thing when used right. When it's abused, not so much, and I can't think of a bigger instance of abusing it than with loot boxes. MTs were created for F2P and really cheap titles as a means of profiting from a game that would otherwise not pay the bills for the devs behind it. They were never meant to be used for full priced games as a means of double-dipping on the consumer's dime, and yet here...
If my name alone was enough to sell millions, I'd slap it on all my works. I don't blame Kojima for doing it.
