Everyone knows Patcher is the only one whose opinions matter. /s In all seriousness, it's great that analysts are recognizing the success of the PS4.
Really? It's old news around these parts but that's impressive if true.
I love this game but I already own the PS3 version and this one adds nothing new. I'll have to think about whether I should check it out.
Noooooo!!!!! What will people do if they can't play that outdated fad game that nobody plays anymore? The world is ending!!!!! Kim Jung Un has won!!!! Nooooo!!!!
Meanwhile, back on Earth:
Meh. Who plays Pokemon Go in 2018?
If new IPs are being done a disservice by their publishers, that's on the publishers for not promoting their games properly. New IPs do tend to need more promotion to succeed, but there are workarounds. For example, Naughty Dog made Uncharted, and I think they did market The Last of Us as being from the creators of that iconic series. Granted, Naughty Dog is probably not the best example as all they really need is their logo attached to a game they worked on, but if any dev has had a r...
It should be better than EA's vision of games as a service. I can see MS pulling an EA from time to time, but not Sony. Sony does like to occasionally experiment though. They seem to have an attitude of, if it works, it works, if it doesn't, meh. Not everything they've tried has been a success. *cough* PlayStation Now *cough* But what hasn't worked out hasn't halted the PS4's success in any way, and Sony tends to revert back to what works. Besides, they learn so...
Try shopping for one online.
Probably not. It's more expensive than its competitors and has fewer games. I don't think the average consumer is the intended audience though. It's more for people who are all about visuals and are at the intersection of "have an expensive 4KTV" and "don't want to fork over the cost for a high-end gaming rig".
Or...you know, they could buy up studios and make exclusives like Sony does. Actually, no they shouldn't do that. MS can be like EA at times. Maybe instead they should actually use the studios they have. It's been four gens now and many of us are still not over them purchasing the once-great Rare, and what Rare has become since. On top of that, the output from MS studios seems to be low compared to its competitors.
Um...not to be pedantic, but the Vita Bioshock was supposedly going to be a port of the original game, which was set in Rapture, not Columbia. Otherwise, great list and I agree wholeheartedly. Granted, I'm also a fellow PS Enthusiast writer, so I can't be considered unbiased.
Anyways, yeah the Vita could have used more Western support, especially from some mainstream series. I blame Sony though for just deciding not to give it first party support from Western stu...
Here's an idea: Sega should stop trying to CPR Sonic and focus on other IPs. Mario's still around because his franchise never died. Sonic has been dead for a long time.
Gaming is still a much newer medium than any other, although it's not like it was conceived yesterday so it baffles me that so many people are supposedly behind the times when it comes to acknowledging gaming as something other than just "for kids". Could that be why retailers and console manufacturers are still retarded regarding AO rated games in spite of being ok with M rated games which are only 1 year apart in age rating? Great article though. I for one have no problem r...
If Nintendo won anything it's the award for "most improved", and they certainly had a great year, even surpassing MS IMHO, but I strongly disagree that they won the year, let alone "easily".
I'm somewhere in the middle regarding game addiction in that I know it's not the same as having a substance dependence, but at the same time I've gotten way too hooked on games for my own good at times. I think I prefer the term "videogame compulsion" as I think that's a more accurate term that still acknowledges that getting hooked on games is a real problem.
That said, it's equally possible for one to get hooked on binge-watching shows on ...
Wait, they were going to add Quarians? Out of all the races absent in Andromeda I missed them the most. Screw you again EA! I'm open to playing more Andromeda. Maybe I'll get some closure if I do manage to finish it.
I love the original Mass Effect Trilogy, and a follow-up on more powerful hardware should not have been any less than stellar. It's a pity corporate greed killed it as I think it could have been amazing. As it stands I don't think it's the worst, but it is a colossal disappointment. Yes, I admit to foolishly jumping on the hype train.
For example, I don't mind the Angara in spite of them being a tad too derivative of existing alien races, but why are they...
FES for me. I love having the female protagonist, but removing the choice of weapons was a bad idea IMHO, as was turning my favourite fusion spells (a feature I'm baffled was removed in later titles) into one-off cards. Plus, without seeing Shinji headbutt that guy, it's just radio. I'm glad they added other features to the battle system from Persona 4 but I wouldn't say that's crucial as I beat Persona 3 FES on hard without any of that. Persona 4 is a different beast ...
Persona 5 sure stole my heart this year.
"This" 2018? As in there will be others? Ok, I'm being pedantic and I know it. I do agree with this list, especially KH3 as it's been in development hell for so long I'll believe its launch date the day it actually comes out.
