Nintendo has its own flavour and I think it should embrace that. There's another console manufacturer who's hurting for exclusives right now that could stand to learn a thing or two from God of War's success though.
Can we assume that the Vice President of Gaming has limited power vs the President? I like to think someone who's a gamer would make decisions for his company that benefit gamers, such as having solid and plentiful exclusives. So far we haven't seen that, but maybe he's gathered some data from God of War that will encourage him to push for something of that quality on Xbox. As it stands, until we see evidence to the contrary, I'm just going to assume nothing has changed and...
These systems aren't even announced yet so hold your horses. I mean sure, Sony has learned that reasonable power with relative ease of programming and a price point of around $400 is a better business move than even more power with difficult hardware to work with and a higher price point, but I still expect we will see a decent enough boost in power once next gen rolls around. The next consoles may not match the most cutting-edge PC hardware at that point in time, but they don't hav...
There's an award for most money spent on marketing? Why? Is reckless spending considered an achievement now? I guess it's something if a company has that kind of cash to spend, but the spending itself is hardly something worth bragging about.
I fail to see how this means Nintendo can't release their old games their way. Sure, Sega's beating them to the punch, but once VC is released Nintendo could just move those games over there. This is hardly the first time Sega's topped Nintendo on Nintendo hardware. They actually somehow wrote a better emulator for their Game Gear than Nintendo wrote for their Gameboy and Gameboy Color games on the 3DS, and now they're somehow managing to port their games to the Switch befo...
I'm sure it's secretly beating the competition in terms of how much is spent on marketing. But, it's not beating the competition in sales. It's not even a contest. Ergo, it is and will forever be the underdog.
A word of advice to other journalists, speaking largely from experience: there are clickbait titles, and then there are ones I call anti-clickbait as they actually discourage people from wanting to click the link and they often feel prompted to leave a comment based on the headline and snippet above. If you really want people to read your article, make sure to avoid anti-clickbait. In this case you're making it look like the article is one big rant about the game and people don't wa...
Hype trains derail all the time so overhyping a game can often work against it. On the flip side, when a game actually lives up to the hype that's a testament to its quality.
Well, everyone's entitled to their opinion I guess, even if it doesn't line up with the majority.
A couple of those aren't franchises since they only ran for one game, but I'd love for L.A. Noire to be a franchise. And yes, Sly 5 please! Oh, and a new Jack and Daxter would be nice too. And a reboot of Syphon Filter. Tomba's probably never coming back but I can dream. Manhunt. Bully. Legend of Dragoon. Chrono. Oddworld. Beyond Good and Evil. How much time do you have? We can be here all day.
Wow, people are clearly loving this...exquisite...Metal Gear...I'm sorry, I can't finish that sentence. The huge price drop so soon after launch clearly indicates that no one wants that PoS.
Where are the exclusives you want to play? The answer to that will determine which system you ought to buy.
That seems far more up MS's alley.
Different studio, but yeah, I miss that series too.
I'd love a Sly 5. Please get on that Sucker Punch, or heck, Sly 4 was outsourced and it turned out well, so maybe do that again.
I'm not expecting any such announcement at this year's E3, but I wouldn't put it past Sony or MS to unveil new hardware at E3 2019, maybe with a projected 2020 release date. Nintendo just released the Switch so it's doubtful they'll release a new console for a while (maybe a new dedicated handheld), but the PS4/XB1 will have been out for over 6 years when 2020 comes around.
So you'd rather Nintendo sit on what's potentially the best legacy system they've ever had? Nintendo's long run as a game console manufacturer is one of their biggest strengths as it allows them to draw on decades of nostalgia. Besides, there are many games that Nintendo has under their belt and many people who want to play them on their Switch. That's pure profit that they're ignoring right now, even without getting third parties on board again which would make the...
I don't know how much credibility I'd give this dev on the subject. It sounds like baseless conjecture at this point. Besides, there's evidence that a PS5 is likely on the horizon (even if it's unlikely to be revealed before E3 2019 at the earliest), and if MS does stay in the console market I think they will unveil a new system in a similar timeframe.
Yeah, their approach should be to focus on games. A hardware boost can help, but doesn't make up for their problem. Their BC feature is making serious strides, but it came pretty late in the gen, and people want new games. Exclusives sell. Sony knows this. Nintendo knows this. Why is it that MS still doesn't? Do we need to spell it out to them?
Because exclusives matter.
