Which is why, as a PS4 owner, I make a point of at least finding out what's announced at MS press conferences.
The studios MS acquired will be useful if they actually use them for what they're worth. If they do to them what they did to Rare on the other hand...MS's place in the console market won't change.
Sony just has to show more of what's already been announced and they have this one in the bag. Knowing them there will be at least one or two lit announcements as well.
Sony will also continue to let you own your games, and choose whether you want them physically or digitally. They're also not afraid to experiment with a wide variety of ideas, including various takes on the singleplayer formula. And yes, they aren't constantly whining that they can't justify the cost of games if there aren't MTs or some GaaS component.
I don't think the XB1 has performed so terribly that it needs "saving", but it did need a boost to stay competitive. I think this conference was a big improvement over previous MS conferences. As most of what was announced is multiplat and the rest isn't that unexpected aside from the studio acquisitions (which will only be good news if MS changes its approach and doesn't run them into the ground), I think Sony still has the upper hand this E3. However, MS is at least...
Agreed. People also forget that trends are only trends if the consumer buys into them. It doesn't matter how much some companies want something to catch on if it doesn't. The trick is to not buy into them. Alas, I also often lack faith in the consumer as some people will do whatever big companies want them to do. I think as informed consumers though we can at least do our part by not contributing to unsavoury business practices.
Or, we could just put a stop to this "trend" by not partaking in it. Problem solved.
They make them, that's how. Well, more specifically one of their studios does, but when they acquire a studio they actually use it, unlike MS who just sits on theirs. It's not rocket science, really.
The gaming business for MS is seeing a shift away from hardware. Fixed.
I also noticed that Training Mode is only available for the online-compatible games as well.
I'd love something equivalent to their VC in general, up to and including GameCube, but sadly Nintendo hates money so that probably won't happen.
So...let me get this straight. Releasing a game in a series that historically wasn't episodic, and deciding not to go episodic this time is a bad idea? I'm all for experimenting with a game's format, but releasing the full game all at once should never be considered a crime.
They can stay in the console game if they start trying, and get the concept that games come first. If they still don't get it, their next console will fare just as poorly if not worse.
Well, like with all companies pushing an IP, the onus is on MS to make us care about it. The hype train they built derailed a long time ago, so they're back to square one. Whether we care or not is contingent on what they show us. I for one am not expecting much so they need to wow us.
That may be true, but Sony's had a fairly open net most E3s this gen. That doesn't mean they should get complacent though. They should have a great lineup this year, however, so they can have confidence in that.
Finally a review that recognizes that there are a lot of games here for a very reasonable price. Museum content is an extra feature that would be nice, and the games that didn't make it into this collection will be missed, but there are a lot of games here, and some new ones have been added, along with the Japanese versions of a few of them.
Call me when phones get proper control schemes, and when their games actually use said control schemes. I've seen controller attachments for phones but I've never come across an app game that isn't touch-only. Also, call me when 99% of phone games aren't shovelware or F2P cash grabs.
I give this review a 1/10.
Bethesda and a lot of other devs and publishers have disproven EA's steaming pile of lies. Heck, EA disproved their own BS when they published A Way Out by Hazelight Studios only to have it shatter their expectations.
Those are very expensive figures.
