I agree that mid-gen upgrades are and probably will continue to be less exciting as they're not entirely new systems, but wait until you see the next set of systems to decide whether the hype is real or not. Also, it's just MS who is focused on power and teraflops to compensate for their lack of exclusives. Sony actually mentioned that they could have produced a more powerful base system from day 1 but decided to focus on ease of programming first and foremost. It just worked out t...

@CyberSentinel Is it though? Their latest "deal" requires at least a two year commitment. I believe the X version costs $35 a month, which works out to $840 over two years. The system costs $500, so unless you're getting $340 worth of services in that time frame, it really isn't much of a deal.

MS is trying to force the industry to fit them and their ideals, and they always have. They've never been content to try and be in tune with the industry, and they're currently trailing the competition as a result. Gamers like exclusives, and being able to own games and do with them as we please, neither of which fits with MS's mantra. They're like someone trying to complete a puzzle by forcing pieces where they don't go. Even Nintendo who chose to be hipsters and marc...

Well, I don't see a videogame universe happening overnight, but it's possible. The cinematic universe has the benefit of time as when it started it was really just a series of Iron Man films, and Marvel decided to use that as the point from which to expand. It took a while for it to get where it is now.

Of course if Insomniac hypothetically wishes to make its own Marvel universe, they've already taken the first step. They also didn't have to start at squa...

Well, good thing it's slightly less packed if you only own an XB1. You won't have to also bear the cross of Spider-Man addiction. That's a real thing that many PS4 owners have to deal with on top of all the multiplats coming out. I actually wouldn't be surprised if sales of those other games take at least a slight hit as a result. If you or someone you know suffers from Spider-Man addiction, call web-swingers anonymous.

Indeed. Besides, for me a 10/10 or a 100/100 isn't necessarily a game that's void of any flaws whatsoever. However, it's a game that resonates with me on a whole other level than most games, and any flaws do not detract from that in any way, shape or form. I haven't played the new Spider-Man yet, but it looks like it's everything I expected it to be and then some, keeping in mind that the Batman Arkham games and even Spider-Man 2 on PS2 from many years ago made my perfe...

I don't think I want to read this one, but as someone who clearly has, you're welcome to enlighten me.

I didn't realize this wasn't already a multiplat. Better late than never I guess? So how it works is while PlayStation gamers are enjoying great new exclusives such as the new Spider-Man, XB1 and Switch owners are finally getting third party titles from ages ago and it's treated like the second coming of Christ? Oh well, this is a solid collection and I'm happy more people can have it.

Hi Gamingbolt. Good to see you still have nothing to write about other than harping on the cross-play debacle that few actually care about or nitpicking about minute visual details in Insomniac's Spider-Man. I would infer that it's a slow day at the office, but you've had a lot of those lately.

Ummm...no, and here's why. MS has thrown everything and the kitchen sink into trying to compete with Sony except for one thing: exclusives. For that reason they've been trailing Sony all gen. I see no reason to believe next gen will be any different. Sure, they bought a few studios, but there's no guarantee they will not do the same to those studios as they have done to others they have acquired, which is to possibly use them to secure a decent launch lineup for their next sys...

This again? At least it's not another crossplay article.

I just prefer being able to purchase a game for a flat fee, download it and leave it in my backlog for years until I get around to playing it with no subscription attached. I'm not really into the whole subscription model as I like at least being able to have my games installed on my system. Whether that constitutes "ownership" is debatable, but at least that can't be taken away from me.

Besides, VC had a large selection of classics that may not have b...

That's neat. I'd still rather Nintendo release a VC so the selection of games isn't limited and doesn't require a subscription, but the upside of this is added features. I guess many things are a double-edged sword, and this won't be the first or last.

Games based on a GaaS model aren't the kind of "diversity" I'm looking for, sorry, and that means a lot coming from a studio that's basically a mouthpiece for EA at this point.

I don't think MS will be changing their tactics much going into next gen, even with their studio acquisitions. There will be a handful of games at launch, but that will slow to a trickle before too long. Meanwhile, they will do anything but add more exclusives to their lineup, and pay individuals to talk up their hardware. Ergo, I don't see a change of position in their future. The PS5 will likely dominate, and the Switch will be a thing for a while yet before Nintendo finally acq...

Sounds like a terrible storm. Good thing Ns are replaceable. The important thing is, the employees stay safe while this typhoon runs its course.

Ah, anonymity, the best flame shield. It seems that even this reviewer knew he was high when he wrote this.

Sony's not listening to a minority of gamers. They'd rather listen to what most gamers want, which is quality exclusives. How's last place working out for you MS?

Shoot, out of this list I've only played Spider-Man 2. I guess I've been slacking over the last couple decades. Here's hoping Insomniac's game tops them all. I'll definitely be playing that.

So...no more brand new PS2 games at Bik's Camera? Noooooo!!!!! J/K, I don't even live in that country and trying to learn that infernal language has been hell on earth. I found it kind of neat that I saw brand new PS2 games on the shelves of one of Japan's big department store chains back when I had my trip there in 2016. The PS2 had a good run there, that's for sure. Well, PS2, it's finally time for you to truly achieve retro status. Maybe it's high time I get mi...
