I fail to see how it matters that many great PS1 titles are third party, especially since there's quite a bit of third party on Nintendo's classic consoles. The PS1 is quite nostalgic for many in its own right, and one advantage it may have is that it's from a slightly more recent time than the NES and SNES, meaning there are plenty of people who missed the third and fourth gen, but grew up with PlayStation.

I fail to see what makes the PS1 Classic lack lasting appeal vs. the exact same thing but for a different retro console. Fans of the PS1 are sure to find the same enjoyment with it as fans of the NES and SNES have found enjoyment in those classic consoles.

Yeah, I would have preferred that, or just being able to have PS1 classics on the PlayStation Store again, but clearly Sony and Nintendo both think alike on that front. I'll definitely check this classic console out though as I miss Tekken 3, a lot, and that never got released on the PS3. I wouldn't be surprised if companies like Sony and Nintendo periodically released additional plug and plays of the same console with different games so they could make more money that way. I reall...

I'm not even clicking the link of this obvious troll article. Nintendo doesn't hold a monopoly on plug and play consoles, nor did they invent the idea of them. Sega and Atari have released some of their own too. There's no reason to pick on Sony just because they're on top. They're also actually one step ahead of Nintendo as they are releasing their 5th gen classic console ahead of the inevitable N64 Classic.

Sweet! I should never have gotten rid of my PS1 and my copy of Tekken 3. I might check this out.

Oh, I'm not hyping it up. I'm playing and enjoying it. Even as someone who actually enjoyed Arkham Knight in spite of its flaws, I can say I'm having much more of a blast with the new Spider-Man. But, you do you. Everyone's entitled to their opinion on subjective matters. Mine just happens to line up with the overwhelming hype.

Finally, an accurate review. I have to wonder what game people who give it a 7 or even an 8 are playing.

It definitely lived up to the hype, and then some.

This isn't an issue of DC vs Marvel though, and there are many multiplat Marvel titles too. Also, I'm pretty sure WB will stick to multiplats especially given how much larger the PS4 install base is. This is a case of Sony securing yet another great exclusive that will more than likely turn into a series. This is a case of MS not putting their money into what actually matters this gen, while Sony is, which is games, and also selecting the right studios to make those games.

Spider-Man all the way, if you have the option. What kind of question is that? I'm sure the new Tomb Raider is alright, but if I'm going to get a game at launch for $80CAD, it has to be amazing.

Well, Lara had to go up against Spider-Man. I have a feeling a lot of AAA titles will fare a little worse, as none of those protagonists can move like a spider can. Seriously, I watched someone who got the new Tomb Raider instead play a bit of the game and while it looks alright, I think I'll definitely miss web swinging next time I have to go back to playing a game where the player character moves like a regular human.

@kneon Even if that were true, accounting only for UK figures, the PS4 just got The arguably superior Spider-Man. I love Lara and all, but she’s not swinging through New York at exhilarating speed and altitude. Ergo, it’s really something that SotTR sales figures are so much higher on the system where people have the choice to play Spider-Man than on the one where they don’t.

In that case I have to wonder what Xbox only owners are playing. I’m assuming muti-system owners are enjoying the new Spider-Man, so perhaps most XB1 owners also own a PS4.

Congrats to Sony, Insomniac and last but not least, Marvel for providing us with an excellent game.

Can N4G please start banning these articles? They're getting old, and aren't convincing anyone to abandon the PS4 for an XB1. MS really needs to try a different tactic as paying these individuals to harp on the same non-issue over and over again has proven to be a waste of money.

I don't know who that is, but the straw grasping continues.

I'd rather they roll out VC. I guess I'll avoid their online service like the plague.

Yes, because we all know that Spider-Man is a cop, and should be treated as such. /s. I'm glad someone wrote a counter-article for the ridiculous notion quite a few sites are spewing for some reason. I'd rather the game be true to the character it's portraying than some archetype.

It depends on the game, the realism the devs are going for, and many other factors. Yes, there are many instances where "videogame logic" is not only necessary, but the absence of which could render the game impossible, but there are also many instances where close attention is paid to things like physics and what would realistically happen in a situation that crops up in the game. There's no one-size fits all approach to game mechanics or the logic behind certain elements. R...

This game already has an accolades trailer? Well, isn't that something. I guess this is proof that everyone trying to downplay this game is out to lunch.
