Uncharted is still the best looking game to me as well. A few other games come close--MGS4 and Gears 2 in particular--but Uncharted is still the best looking game CURRENTLY available on consoles.

No other game has the combination of graphical qualities that Uncharted does. MGS4 has the nice HDR real-time lighting engine, but its textures aren't as good. Gears 2 has nice textures similar to Uncharted, but completely lacks a HDR real-time lighting engine...

The PS3 does not need saving. Of course price plays a significant factor and the PS3 could obviously be selling even more if it were cheaper, but it is doing just fine as it is.

It happens to be in third place right now, but then again we are only two years into its lifecycle and there are still a good 3 or 4 years left in this generation in which the PS3 could easily catch up to or surpass the Xbox 360.

But you know what, why does it have to? It has sold more ...

The quality of the video was rather poor, but I don't understand how anyone could think that any level in Gears 2 looks better than that level. The lighting, particle effects and geometric complexity in that level are superior to anything I have seen in Gears 2. And to be honest, that level is one of less impressive levels (at least based on that low quality video) that I have seen from Killzone 2.

I own Gears 2 and it is a very nice looking game--better than the first one even...

Damn, this game is amazing. I positively can't wait to get my hands on it come February 27th.

I actually really enjoyed Killzone. It had a few issues, but overall it was a really unique and enjoyable game. It's just too bad that so many people missed out on it simply because it didn't live up to the "Halo-killer" moniker, which gave people the wrong impression that it was a bad game.

Killzone Liberation on PSP is even better and is easily one of the best games available on PSP.

Yes, I am very happy that they have included bots. I love what bots add to a game and I wish that more developers would utilize them in their games.

Killzone 2 is the full package. The only thing that could have made it better is the inclusion of a campaign co-op mode. But oh well, they have to save something for Killzone 3 I suppose.

It's a near certainty that Eurogamer will give Killzone 2 a lower score than it deserves, or at least lower than the scores of the general consensus. Just look at the score they gave Metal Gear Solid 4, one of the true gaming masterpieces, well they gave it an 8 out of 10. Which isn't a bad score, but is still well below what the vast majority thought of the game.

If it was just that one review, you could just chalk it up to that particular reviewers individual taste in games...

It is so popular because it has impressed on all levels. The graphics speak for themselves and the beta impressions were almost universally positive. Then there are the single player previews and now full reviews that have been extremely positive. So, uh...is it really that hard to understand why gamers are excited about this game?

I agree, Kleptic. Sony's approach is much better, and Killzone 2 is just one example of that.

Another great score. I can't wait for this game.

Fantastic post and great points.

Halo 3 is decent, but to me it has already been surpassed by other games. However, the more important point is that Killzone 2 doesn't need to "kill" Halo. Those that enjoy Halo will likely continue to enjoy Halo, while Killzone 2 will likely carve out its own place among the best that the FPS genre has to offer and will be enjoyed by many other people.

I have a PS3 and an Xbox 360 and I basically agree with you on all points. The PS3 is simply a better console overall. Better exclusives, same multiplatform games, much better reliability, many more multimedia features, Blu-ray, etc.

Lots of people are playing the Wii as well, but that doesn't make it good. Same goes with Halo 3.

Don't get me wrong, it is a pretty good game, but not as good as the sales would leave you to believe. My point is, don't go throwing sales numbers up in people's faces--nobody cares, because everyone understands that just because something sales well does not make it good.

Killzone 2 doesn't need to kill Halo, because to be honest it looks like it will be a lot better than Halo and can stand on its own.

Halo is pretty good, but not all that great. There are lots of games that are better, and Killzone 2 is going to be one of them. Sales don't make a game good. Besides, I think you will be surprised how well Killzone 2 sells.

I don't think either the PS3 or Xbox 360 is in trouble. They are both doing relatively well and either console could end up on top when all is said and done. The Wii is selling to a different demographic and isn't a direct competitor to the PS3 or 360.

I am sick of all the negativity, though. Do we really need so many doom and gloom articles?

@TriPLE

If you have 60 games for Xbox 360 and only 2 for PS3 that proves nothing, except that you are a fanboy that purposely snubs good PS3 games in favor of buying even mediocre games for the Xbox 360.

I, too, have a PS3 and a 360 and I think that they are both good consoles. I prefer my PS3 a little more, but I have nearly an equal amount of games for both consoles. You should open yourself up to all the great games on the PS3. Otherwise, you are really missing...

That's very true. The 360's lineup for 2009 looks very weak to me. There is hardly anything that interests me. The PS3 on the other hand has a stellar lineup for 2009.

I do believe that Sony is working the hardest and doing the best job. Too bad the mainstream seems to prefer crap over quality.

Quality = PS3 > Xbox 360 > Wii

Sales = Wii > Xbox 360 > PS3

You see, the mainstream has it exactly backwards. Unfortunately, the above scenario is only going to encourage the production of more crap. After all, that is what the mainstream casual gamers seem to respond to. Sad times indeed.

I love my PSP and definitely plan on getting the next one whenever it comes out.

Two analogue sticks, please.
