That's true and Halo is certainly a good franchise. But I honestly don't enjoy it as much as Gears 2, COD4 or Resistance 2.
Who cares what the previous game was or wasn't? The only thing that matters is how good THIS game is. Killzone was decent, Killzone 2 is excellent--what is so hard to understand?
You are right about Gears 2 being an excellent game, but it isn't flawless. In fact is has quite a few negatives, yet it was treated by many reviewers as if it were flawless. That is inconsistent. To mark down Killzone 2 for weak voice work when Gears 2 also has pretty weak voice work is hypocritica...

No, but seriously, this review was really pathetic. Two paragraphs and absolutely no mention of the multiplayer aspects of the game.
Oh well, these guys are nobody and they certainly haven't caught my interest with this weak review.

The reviews have all been extremely positive, yet there are still people trying to act like it is a letdown somehow? Wow.
The fact is though, that the beta testers almost universally loved it and now all the reviewers are giving it super high review scores. There is no doubt at all--it is a fantastic game.
Uh, you don't think Uncharted and MGS4 are good games? (to name just a few)
I have both consoles and there are indeed good games on both consoles, but at this point I have found more must-have games on PS3 than on Xbox 360. But whatever, just enjoy your games.

I agree. I wasn't in the beta, but a close friend of mine was and I was able to get some hands on time with it. There is no doubt about it--even the Killzone 2 beta looked much better than Gears 2.
I own Gears 2 and it is definitely a nice looking game, but seriously, it makes no sense to give Gears 2 a higher score for Graphics than Killzone 2. Then again, IGN also gave GTA4 a 10 for graphics, so they obviously aren't a very good judge of graphical quality.

Gears 2 and Killzone 2 weren't even reviewed by the same person and even if it were done by the same reviewer who cares? It is obviously just those individual's opinion.
I can say one thing for sure though, Killzone 2 definitely looks better and has a better multiplayer than Gears 2. I don't care what any reviewer says about those things because I have experienced it for myself.

Sheesh!...the PS3 has had tons of great games now for a while. I don't understand why people are so adamant about sticking to that old ridiculous criticism of the PS3. I own both consoles and as far as exclusives go, it is the Xbox 360 that is lagging behind the PS3, not the other way around.

I know where you are coming from, but the problem with that theory is that Resistance 2 and Gears 2 only came out a couple a months ago and nothing has come along since then to raise the bar, so Killzone 2 should be compared directly to those current competitors.
It simply makes no sense to give Resistance 2 a 9 in the graphics department less than three months ago and then only give Killzone 2 a 9.5. when Killzone 2 is CLEARLY on a whole different level. ...

I do have to feel somewhat disappointed with the inconsistency of game reviews, though. It makes the whole review score thing kind of pointless. To give games like Resistance 2 and Gears 2 scores of 9.5 only a few months ago and then give Killzone 2 a 9.4 doesn't seem very consistent. I know I haven't played through the single player campaign, but just based off what I saw in the beta I find it very difficult to believe that Resistance 2 or Gears 2 ...

You are exactly right, Sarcasm. That is one of the things that I am really impressed with about my PS3: the number of new franchises that Sony has brought to the table this generation. Games like Heavenly Sword, Uncharted, and MotorStorm are some of my favorite games and I particularly enjoy the fact that they are new experiences, not simply sequels in established franchises.
The only new IP that Microsoft has introduced this generation that I have really enjoyed is the Gears...

Well, I was very impressed by the water in Uncharted and if ND think they can do better, then WOW, I would love to see what they come up with for Uncharted 2. But still, the water in Uncharted was some of the best I have ever seen.

That's very true. It obviously isn't only about which console is more powerful...but it doesn't hurt now does it?
Games, in fact, are the most important quality for a console and it just so happens that the PS3 is doing extremely well in that regard. I have owned my PS3 less time than I have owned my Xbox 360, yet I still have slightly more games for my PS3. And this year...well, this year it isn't even close--the PS3 has a much better 2009 lineup than the Xbox 360.
Are you blind, Why dis? Look at those textures! Look at that lighting and shadows! Please show me another game that has equally good textures and lighting as Uncharted.

Needless comparisons with COD. Killzone 2 stands on its own and, at least in terms of the beta, is actually more engaging than COD4 in my opinion.
