Oh, don't you dare. Don't you dare.

Don't you know that sales are all that matter?

I mean, I can't explain why I am a 360 fanboy instead of a Wii fanboy, seeing how the Wii is stomping the 360 into the ground in sales, but I still think sales numbers are the most exciting and important things in the world.

Don't worry. As long as Velvet Assassin ends up selling a couple million it still has a chance to become a "good game". But we won't kn...

That makes absolutely no sense. Don't you understand that "being in the closet" refers to the console not being played that often, not to how much it has sold.

I'm sick of all the talk of sales. People that act like sales are what determine what a person should like are the biggest fools around. How can you even consider yourself a gamer if you judge everything in terms of how much it has sold?

Personally the Wii interests me very little.

I have always bought nearly every console every generation, but the Wii is a disappointment to me.

Moreover, I know several people that bought into the Wii hype early on and now virtually never use their Wiis.

If I actually owned a Wii it might not be in the closet, but it doubt I would be playing it much.

I agree to a point. I own both consoles, but I buy some multiplatform games on my PS3. I thought Dead Space looked slightly better on the PS3 and more importantly I like the way it controlled better on the PS3, so that is the console I got it for.

My point is, a small graphical difference is only one of many consideration as to which version of a multiplatform game you decide to purchase. Right now I don't have Xbox Live because my subscription ran out and money is tight. To ...

You guys are so funny. I own both consoles and the difference rarely amounts to much. Multi-platform games are generally nothing special graphically in the first place and so how big of a deal is it if one looks 5% better? Whoopty doo!

I buy some of my multiplats on the 360 and some on the PS3. Just depends on the game. If the PS3 gets a particularly bad port I will avoid it in favor of the 360 game, but generally other considerations are far more important to me.

Uncharted hardly had "a ton of screen tearing". It had a decent amount of it in SOME PARTS of the game, but overall the amount was not that much. Only slightly more than Gears of War 1 or 2, for example. Games like Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect had quite a bit more screen tearing and I still love those games.

The main point though, is that other than the screen tearing the graphics in Uncharted blow away almost every other game I have played. Only Killzone 2 manag...

Although in a detailed analysis a few differences might be discovered, when you actually play the games the difference is hardly noticeable, if at all.

I play multiplatform games on both of my consoles now (PS3 and 360) and very few games have any differences that are enough to notice unless you are doing a careful analysis (which you aren't doing when you play a game).

It's the same game on either console, in any case.

It's true. A lot of the textures in Gears 2 are poor when you get close to them.

It's funny, I was recently comparing Gears 1 with Gears 2 and I was surprised to find that the textures overall were of a higher resolution in Gears 1 than in Gears 2. Some of the environments are a bit bigger in Gears 2, but the textures took somewhat of a hit.

You're such a stinking fanboy, theMart.

I have both consoles and they both have their pluses and minuses. The 360 tends to perform somewhat better on multiplatform games and PS3 exclusives are overall the best looking games I have seen. So they both excel in certain areas.

We all know why the PS3 sometimes gets inferior multiplatform games and it has nothing to do with the PS3 hardware "stinking".

If you want to use a term like "stinks&q...

Uncharted did have some screentearing, but nowhere near as bad as games like Assassin's Creed and Mass Effect. I have all three of those games (three of my favorites by the way) and there is no doubt Uncharted had the least amount of screen tearing between those three.

The screen tearing was really fairly minor and only happened in certain areas. Besides that relatively minor flaw the game blows away almost every other game I have ever played in the graphics department. The on...

It's true. All three console makers (like all companies) are in it to make a profit. The people working at those companies are doing so primarily to earn a living. However, this isn't to say that all companies have the same philosophies and business practices.

As an owner of both consoles I have to admit that I somehow feel more nickle-and-dimed by Microsoft than Sony. Maybe it has to do with the fact that I don't have to pay a subscription fee to play my PS3 games online, or...

@ Kevlar

The reasons you give for preferring not to buy downloadable games is the same reason that I don't believe any console in the near future could rely on digital downloads as the primary means of distributing games.

People like physical copies of things. Especially when those things cost so much ($60 a copy). The chance of losing your purchased games through a harddrive crash and not being able to loan or sell your games are major detriments to widespread a...

I know. Most of the Arcade games are too high priced and I don't buy most of them. Although I must admit that games like Braid were so good that I thought the price was fair. It just depends. But I still can't shake the feeling that Microsoft are nickle-and-dime-ing us.

For example, Flower on PSN is every bit as good a game as Braid and only costs $10. That feels like a good deal.

I especially hate Microsoft's exorbitantly priced harddrives. I am still stuck ...

Mass Effect 2 is right up there with Uncharted 2 as one of my most anticipated upcoming games.

I hope they improve the game's technical performance by reducing screen tear, framerate slowdown, and texture pop-in. And also make the side quests a little more interesting and the planets more varied.

Other than that, I am sure Bioware will bring the goods. They are among the best storytellers in the business.

Mass Effect is my favorite game on the 360 and I can't wait for the sequel.

It's funny, Bathyj, Tenchu Z is also one of the main games I like on the 360, since I have been a big fan of the series since the original on PS1.

To be honest if it weren't for Tenchu Z and Mass Effect--and to a lesser extent Gears of War and Fable--there really wouldn't be any other exclusives that I really care about on the 360. I am really looking forward to Mass Effect 2 though, since the first one is one of my favorite games.

The simple truth is, the PS3 has r...

No, I don't exactly take them as a negative thing. I mean they are what they are. I like both consoles (360 and PS3) and I want to see them both do well. The recession is making things tougher on everybody and we can only hope that we pull out of it soon.

Good thing Killzone 2 is selling well then, isn't it?

Get it through your heads, sales of the kind Halo 3 had are a fluke. They aren't going to happen very often. Most games will never achieve sales like that.

Killzone 2 should have no problem selling 2 or 3 million (or even more) in its lifetime, which is plenty enough to make a good profit and ensure a sequel.

Uncharted, for example, took around 2 months to reach a million copies sold (a number whi...

Likewise, Microsoft carried over huge losses from their foray into the console market with the Xbox last generation. Do we have any clear information detailing whether they have dug themselves out of that yet? I had heard in the first year or two that they were still in the negative. Is that still the case? Everyone knows that the whole RROD fiasco has cost them a lot this generation.

6256d ago 1 agree3 disagreeView comment

Obviously, Death, the topic is 'why do people care about Killzone 2 sales" and some of us are arguing that it should have no bearing on the judging of the game's quality, while others seem to be implying that it should. So it is perfectly reasonable for someone to ask you why YOU care so much about sales.

Personally I never made any predictions about how many copies Killzone 2 would sell, because such things are not easy to predict. A year before the Wii launched I would h...
