No, Mass Effect is one of my favorite games this generation and I can't wait for part deux.

I do hope they get it running better though and don't try to push the engine too hard before they get the technical issues ironed out. I'm talking about screen tear, texture pop-in, framerate slowdown and things of that nature. I would rather have a slightly less good looking game that runs really solid than a better looking game that has technical issues.

In any case, it is...

I agree. In fact, I think it looks better than a couple of those games. Pretty impressive for a game coming up on being 2 years old.

This is my favorite new IP this gen as well, followed by Mass Effect and Assassin's Creed (I know, that last one was flawed, but it was still one of the best new experiences I have had.)

It's not gameplay, but it is in-engine.

I remember the same thing happened when that first teaser of Drake walking through the snow came out. A lot of people claimed that it had to be CGI, but Naughty Dog verified that it was indeed in-engine. Then the second trailer came out with Drake in the wrecked train and again there were people saying that it was CGI. Naughty Dog confirmed again that it was all done in-engine and that all of their trailers and cut-scenes would be done i...

Uncharted is my favorite new franchise this generation and the first game still blows me away every time I play it. I absolutely can't wait for Uncharted 2.

Uncharted is much more advanced graphically than Gears of War 2. Gears doesn't even have real-time lighting. Specularity maps make things look shiny and reflective, but anybody that knows anything knows that is easy to do--in fact, many games have been doing it since last generation--and Uncharted not only has the full gamut of specularity and reflectivity maps but also has a real-time lighting engine, which Gears completely lacks.

Textures are about equal between the two games...

Guys, quit the bickering, anybody with any sense knows that both consoles are going to have plenty of great games to play this year.

6250d ago 0 agree1 disagreeView comment

It's definitely not gameplay in my opinion, but there is some possibility it could have been created using the game's engine. Which, if true, would be truly amazing.

Great comment, no-spin. I feel exactly the same way.

I have had a 360 since launch and a PS3 a little while after it launched and I like them both. I think this year is looking fantastic for the PS3, but I haven't written off the 360 because there are some great games coming (like Mass Effect 2) and because I know MS still has the chance to announce some great games at E3.

So far I personally would give the year to the PS3, but the 360 could very well have a gr...

Great comment and I agree completely.

I also wanted to say that I too have a preference for the PS3's controller. I game on both consoles a lot and I really do find the PS3's controller to be more comfortable and the analogue sticks to be smoother and with less dead space. That's not to say that the 360 controller is bad because it is really close. In fact, there are some things I like about the 360's controller a little better. It's just that I give a slight edge to the PS3'...

I have to admit that the PS3 has been doing better recently than the 360, but overall I think they are both great systems with their own set of pluses and minuses.

2009 has been all about the PS3 for me, simply because the 360 hasn't had anything that interests me lately, but later this year and next year there are some games I am really looking forward to such as: Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell Conviction.

I have both consoles and overall I pretty much like them about the same. However, I find All Time Greatness's comment really absurd.

Is he really trying to make the case that what is important is how many games a console has? The Wii has more games than the PS3 does but to me the Wii library is worth about a 10th of what the PS3 library is worth.

I don't understand how some people have such a difficult time understanding this.
Nobody buys every game available...

I like both consoles, but indysurfn's comment is ignorant. The PS3 doesn't need saving. It's in third place, so what? Nintendo was in third place last generation and now look where it is at? Anything can happen. There is still time for things to change even this generation. Third place doesn't mean nearly as much as some morons make it out to be. Especially when the difference in sales between the 2nd place console and 3rd place console are so small.

The fact is the PS3 ...

I like both consoles. The PS3 is obviously a lot more reliable than the 360, but they both have good games.

I do agree that based on what has already been released and what has been announced the PS3 easily has the better lineup. But the 360 is getting some good games like Mass Effect 2 and Splinter Cell 5 and MS still might announce something significant at E3. Who knows? But they are both good consoles in general.

I think both consoles will have a pretty nice lineup of games.

The PS3 has a better lineup of games that have already been announced, but who knows what Microsoft might have up their sleeves. I think owners of either console will be pretty satisfied.

Sony is doing better so far this year and it makes me curious what Microsoft has to answer it. I can't wait for E3.

Well, even though we don't know all that much about it and don't even know when it will be coming out, Alan Wake is still one of the games I am most excited about for the 360.

On 360 I am looking forward to:
Alan Wake
Mass Effect 2
Splinter Cell 5

On PS3:
inFamous
Uncharted 2
God of War III
Heavy Rain

Multiplats:
Assassin's Creed 2
Bioshock 2
Modern Warfare 2

I sincerely hope we ge...

Hey guys, I'm really looking forward to Alan Wake and I think it will be worth the wait, but are you saying games like Too Human were worth the wait?

Also, I hope you weren't trying to imply Killzone 2 wasn't worth the wait because that game is awesome.

Both consoles have some awesome games and some duds. That's just the way it goes.

Here are my opinions on what we have just seen:

1. It is definitely Beyond Good & Evil (staff on back, haircut, green pants)

2. It is definitely not actual gameplay (camera, animations, etc. give it away)

3. If it is a demonstration of the actual game engine it is the most impressive game engine I have ever seen.

You know, after watching the video again, there are some telltale signs that it is not prerendered. But like I said before, even if it isn't gameplay (which it isn't) it would still blow my mind if it were using the actual game engine. That would be truly shocking.

Whether this video is from the game or not, I can't wait for Beyond Good & Evil 2. The first games was an under appreciated gem and if they keep what made the first one good and develop it further...wow, I guarantee it will be a good game.

The footage looked mindblowingly good, but I have trouble accepting that it was real-time gameplay. Because honestly, if that was real-time gameplay or even in-engine at all, it blows away anything yet seen on consoles. If a developer co...
