It is amazing how similar my story is to yours.
Many of us bought Borderlands 3 out of a sense of nostalgia for how much we enjoyed Borderlands 2 (which is, to this day, a great game). But despite buying everything Borderlands have released, the last time I wasn't disappointed by something they produced was the Tiny Tina DLC for Borderlands 2. That was over a decade ago...

Not all of us. I'm a big PlayStation fan, and have been since the PSOne. But I can't begin to defend what's happening currently.
At least Nintendo release a large number of games from their major franchises. Sony is just not banking on their established franchises, and yet are raising prices. Not great.
It might not be for everyone, but it was highly celebrated by critics and fans alike. The level of storytelling is unparalleled, and the worldbuilding and interconnectivity with other Remedy games is something that has never been done before in the medium. I think that makes it 'great'.
I agree, and suggesred as much. But I was approaching it from the perspective of the employees, of whom there are now many more, working more years for the same release.
Thankfully, gaming has become more mainstream, which is what has kept the cost low for such a long time. Games now sell in far greater numbers, which keeps the cost low. But as this growth slows (as is inevitable), we should expect to see the cost rise.
I don't like paying a lot for games, but frankly, this needs to happen if the industry is going to improve.
Back in 2005, brand new releases of PS2 games usually cost £39.99 in the UK, with some going up to £45. Adjusting for inflation, that's between £70 and £80 today.
Then consider that in 2005, many games were being developed by teams of around 40. Nowadays, for games of the same 'tier', you're looking at 500+.

As a big fan of the Remedy-verse, I really REALLY want to like this. But I'm not usually a fan of online multiplayer games. I really hope that what the developers have said about it not requiring you to play frequently turns out to be true.
I think the point they're trying to make - whether we agree or not - is that if the game was released as a new game now, with all these bugs, it wouldn't be considered acceptable. So why should we embrace it or use it as a standard by which to compare modern games, just because at the time of it's release, it's bugs and glitches were largely overlooked?
Not saying I necessarily agree, but I can see the argument.
Because Indiana Jones isn't a game that needs to be worked on right up until release date (which is the main reason for this trend). The game has been complete for months.
For me, this has taken the game from being a day one purchase to a 'wait for a sale' purchase.

Hopefully they'll find some middle ground between the two. The extra verticality was great. But personally, I prefer being able to pause the battle when opening the combat wheels/menus, rather than just slowing down events. Allowed for much more careful and tactical gameplay.
The one thing I hope they fully bring back is a proper class system. Andromeda's system where you could mix and match across all the classes is a perfect example ...

In that way, Nintendo is similar to Disney. Both survived simply because of the strength of their brand, built over many years.
Nintendo fans would be almost non-existent if it wasn't for Mario, Link, Donkey Kong, Kirby, Pikachu, and the rest. But they produce the kind of brand identity that inspires lifelong fans.
This is why it's strange when Sony seems keen to 'move on' from their franchises each generation. The...
30+ hours for the main game, plus side content.
I really enjoyed going for the Lies of P platinum. It felt like less of a grind than most of the FromSoft Soulsbourne games. Highly recommend it.
But yes, too many great games for sure!
They suggest around 15-20 hours of new content for experienced players. That's more than I was expecting, but I'm pleased to hear it!
It's not as bad as it sounds. This refusal is the result of an automatic process determined by an algorithm, based upon answers to an initial questionnaire. The next step is for the game to be assessed by an actual person.

I'm very much looking forward to it, and definitely grateful that we are getting it!
I recently realised that - despite thinking I was a fan of the Borderlands franchise - I am in fact NOT a fan of the Borderlands franchise.
I am instead a fan of Borderlands 2. I've played every game in the series, and 2 is the only one I do not have a lot of negative feelings about. Apart from possibly 'Tales from the Borderlands' (the original, not the recent 'New Tales from the Borderlands').
Pro Skater 3 has some of the best levels in the series. And I have so many memories of playing Pro Skater 4. I would be so happy if this rumour turned out to be true.
I see what you did there.
I'm not sure I'd even buy ice cream from him anymore...
