Yes. Judas. Looks brilliant, but it's one of those games that seems to never have had a release date. Instead it's had release windows that keep getting pushed back.

Once it's ready, I'll be there for it though. Ken Levine is an excellent developer.

I get the feeling he dissolved Irrational Games simply so that 2k couldn't tell him what to do. It seems it will pay off, but I feel sorry for those who worked as part of Irrational before ...

Bioshock is one of my favourites franchises. I love all 3 games and have played each several times. I even have a room in my house that is loosely decorated around the theme of Bioshock (with a Lighthouse, coral models and postcards styled as though they are from both Rapture and Columbus).

And yet I am going to find it extremely difficult to get even remotely excited about any future episode in the series after all the problems this has had in its development cycle.

One of the most challenging and satisfying bosses I've beaten. Probably spent longer on it than any other boss, other than Malenia. But the feeling of success when I finally beat it was amazing.

I hope you all enjoy it! If you like Soulslike games, you're in for a treat. In some ways it's harder and a little more complex than FromSoft's games, but in other ways it's simpler. Overall, it's a good challenge.

It left me with some of my fondest gaming memories of the last few years.

Exactly. This has happened with almost every popular genre. The industry was flooded with first person shooters because of their early popularity. Then in order to stand out from the crowd, they were forced to innovate, causing the genre to split into several sub-genres.

Reducing the number of Soulslike games would massively reduce innovation, as each game that got released would get away with being another standard Soulslike and nobody would complain.

Also, this sites way of reviewing games seems insanely flawed. They score a game on various categories, then average those scores. One of those categories is narrative, which they gave this game 10%, significantly dragging the score down. Now, I'm a HUGE fan of tightly narrative-driven games. But this is insane when it comes to a game like this. Some games are massively improved by a strong narrative. Others aren't. It's not an objective category for rating the quality of a game. ...

This is utter nonsense. The controls basically haven't changed in 20+ years, and are regularly described as one of the best control schemes in gaming history. Easy to pick up, difficult to master.

I've been having an absolute blast with the game. Easily the best entry in the series since 2006 (possibly longer, depending on your opinion). It builds and improves on 1+2 in every area and has a huge amount of replayability.

@ jambola

I'm sorry the tone didn't quite come across correctly. It was intended as a joke at the fact that 3 people had disagreed with his comment by down voting it... Therefore suggesting the comment wasn't true.

Out of interest, which franchises have been turned into souls games? Most Soulslikes I've played and come across are their own franchises.

3 people (as of me writing this comment) seem to be under the impression that someone IS forcing them to play Soulslikes.

Perhaps we should be concerned about them...

Unfortunately, I don't think poor decisions from the developer are wholly to blame.

Most of Remedy's single player games are excellent in their world building and story telling, while also demonstrating decent gameplay loops. Sadly, that isn't enough these days. Their games don't sell as well as they probably should (based on how well they review), and so they are forced to make deals with publishers to ensure they can actually launch a product. And that is ...

The Soulslike genre is a lot more than just 'hard' games. There is so much more to it than that.

In most cases, for a genre to be successful, there must be multiple entries in that genre from different franchises, some easier and some more difficult. The Soulslike genre has grown impressively well so far with most of the games being on the difficult end of the scale.

The other aspect to consider is WHAT makes Soulslike games hard. In the best exam...

Quantum of Solace is a title of one of the original short stories by Ian Fleming.

The story of the movie is not based on that short story, however.

We'll presumably find out when it is revealed.

I hope they take what makes Hitman so good (dynamic missions, multiple paths, etc.) and apply it to the James Bond license. That way we'd get the choice of action or stealth. Adding in dialogue options could make for a good shift in that gameplay style too.

There's a suggestion they want it to be part of a trilogy, so maybe the name will make more sense if/when the two follow-ups are announced.

For example:
First Light / Daylight / Final Light
First Light / Second Sight / Final Rite

Both VERY poor examples (I'm no writer, after all... These would be terrible names!) but it illustrates the idea.

Also, 'Agent Under Fire', 'Nightfire' and 'Bloodst...

I think they'll go for a version that more closely fits his description from the original novels. What you can see here fits that fairly well. I hope they'll set this in the era of the original books, rather than it be modern day, but who knows.

I really like the look of his coat from this! A minor detail, but it looks promising.

So far this year, I've only bought games that RRP at around £35 to £40 (Expedition 33, Split Fiction, plus have a few others in mind).

Both of the above are far better games than most of the higher price games that I've played over the last few years.
