that Nintendo themselves are copycats for abandoning their proprietary cartridges or mini-discs, and resorting to the DVD, mimicking it's competitors who, uh "pioneered" the idea many years ago.
Man...will Nintendo EVER have an original ideal of there own???
Nintendo's got to be kidding!!!
I'm honestly dissappointed in the Big N, as I wouldn't have expected so much sour grape juice gushing from their direction.
The concepts are absolutely night and day! Coming from a company where soooo much was expected from online interaction. A good start would be to get those Fisher Price Mii's outta that monotonous-gray so-called plaza and somewhere else! It's so boring, even the Mii's fall asleep!
Nintendo sho...
if I'd go as far as saying "doomed."
It first depends specifically upon what Sony's offering. If we PS3ers aren't able to jump into/join/invite into mainstream games such as Resistance, then Microsoft will definitely have a one-up on Sony in that category. Besides, there'll always be dedicated XBox gamers to pay those fees.
Admittedly not me though...really rubs me the wrong way to have to keep paying for such a feature as essential as online gaming...
Uh, don't also GAMES fall in the same category of "fun boredom time filler"?...unless you're one of the unlikely few who actually get paid to play games.
If so, please kindly forward me your contact info, and I shall promptly reply with my resume.
...but not to recycle an already over-used phrase, but "the games are a comin'!"
And the success of Home can only help build the momentum for develpers to jump on the Sony wagon. I have no doubt that yesterday's presentation successfully won or solidified the hearts and resource dedication of many potent and potential developers by the time it drew to a close.
That audience was hyped!!! And judging from today's headlines, Sony's all the rage.
...
or do the screenshots more resemble (albeit beautifully) hand-drawn concept art, rather than in-game?
I'd be stunned like never before if those are in-game.
Here's hoping. ;)
and breathes an incredible amount of (much-needed) new life into the young-but-heavily-criticised console.
The only concern that kept ringing through my head while watching the demo, is the absolutely immense bandwidth that must be required for Home to do everything they claim it to do.
Imagine: They're talking about mass-streaming video content (i.e., movie/game trailers) to all connected users (likely millions at at time), all the while the myriad of users are...
not because of the game itself (frankly I don't have time to spend hours on creating/editing levels. However, as Kevmac83 stated, there will definitely be no shortage of users for that.)
What's actually got me buzzing is that what I just saw was CGI animated in real time - with physics to boot!!! It may not sound like much on the surface, but just think about it for a second. The quality of the video was easily comparable to a full-length feature CGI film, such as Toy Story. ...
Go hold hands with firstnighTgown.
Heaven knows you both need the support right now.
obviously a closet homosexual.
Come now, you poor soul. Your front as a bashing homophobe isn't fooling anyone. Rest assurred that it's ok to come out in this day and age.
You needn't be afraid and suffer in silence any longer, you poor, misguided chap.
...for making me feel young again.
BTW: I never could afford a real square hole-punch; sufficed just as well with the lowly round paper punch though. Yup, Dysan was all the rage, back then.
...and don't accidentally drop that stack of punch cards!
But, if there's any truth to the notion that history does repeat itself, then the new Commodores are going to absolutely dominate!...that is until the "new and improved" Amiga 500 comes along. :)
This is of course all tongue-in-cheek; things are very different this time around, as it ain't just the Apple IIC that they have to worry about.
But in it's time, it was THE gaming PC...bar none!...with an ultra-rich pallette of 16 colours at your disposal! O...
I was too hyperactive to maintain enough focus to limit my interest strictly to programming <SIGH>...but the almightly C-64 is hands down, the first product which single-handedly got me hooked on computers to this day and forever.
What was that computer magazine (Computer Gazzette??)...that monthly publication that included loads of games and applications compilable in both basic and machine language?
I recall spending countless hours as a wee twelve-year-o...
that PSP sales have been finally rising as of late.
Let's hope so, 'cause I love my little PSP.
Don't get greedy, Sony...keep the prices reasonable this time around, unlike your infamous UMD releases, which often cost as much as - if not more - than their DVD counterparts, but always for a lot less in return.
If the costs of downloading remain fair (i.e, a couple of bucks per feature), they've definitely got my money.
Woo-hoo!!!
Caveman-ughlympics, here I come!!!!
I reckon it's gonna be a bytch to compile GTA4 in Basic.
(Awww man, I sure hope I can find my 1541 single-density 5-1/4" floppy drive to accommodate the new computer.)
SYS64738!!!!
Good point.
Well, uh...at least it makes a heck of a web browser and a cutsie weather globe...and can moonlight as a makeshift lava lamp if you're so inclined to email yourself!
But as far as I'm concerned, a DVD player without 5.1 audio is sort of like a big screen TV with a black-and-white picture.
I'll still welcomed the feature, though.
So what's your point?
Ohhh...you're NEW here!
Welcome to N4G, sonny. Given you're outrageous comment, I can only assume that you view the world wearing glasses with big green X's splashed across the lenses (my most sincere apologies if I'm mislead.)
Well, fret not, sir! Because you've definitely come to the right place! If you stick around here long enough, you'll see that Sony and PS3 are in fact consistently bashed and uh, urinated upon for no reason other than a terrible and utt...
I just finished it a couple of nights ago...loved it...absolutely, unoquivocally, hands-down...loved it! Everything is just so MASSIVE...the environment, the levels, the monsters! And as you progress further into the game, it's absolutely insane as to how much is going on around you at once...without a singe framerate drop.
I must add, however, that it took me a while to warm up to the game, as the first hour or so is relatively stagnant compared to what comes later in the gam...
