That's why I think it was a very smart move on Sony's part. I swear, every strategic move they've pulled since the Feb. reveal makes me feel like they had this idea down from the moment they got all the hate on PS3.
They can wait to give their home country the new hardware for a few reasons:

My biggest gripe with the older controllers were the analog sticks. The material and convex shape always bothered me a bit.
I'm excited to be able to use the DS4, though. It's bigger, fixes all of the problems I had with it and still uses some of the features that the DS3 had that I loved (mainly the built-in battery).
Everyone I've heard that has had hands-on time says it's great, some even said better than the XBO controller.

I gotta agree with you there. People don't like that the third Xbox is called Xbox One. Therefore, you get a nickname as silly as the actual name.
Why would you think it's disrespectful? What respect does a console have? Especially one that isn't out yet and has gotten nothing but negative attention. Besides, the rules of nicknames are that you don't get to pick them. If it sticks, you're stuck with it.

It's a bit fast and "rigid", not as smooth as a controller. It's probably a mouse. Meaning it's on PC. GTA V isn't coming to PC (yet).

I'm praying that they release a PS4/XBO version. That would make me the happiest gamer alive. I don't see it as being too unlikely, either. The only reason they wouldn't say anything about it just yet is for the sake of jeopardizing some current-platform customers.
If it doesn't happen, I'm hoping to at least have it playable through Gaikai on PS4 next year.

I won't say that the XBO will succeed or fail, but I do know one thing:
You can't be considered innovative if you reverse your "innovative" policies and features to better compare yourself with your competitors.
Innovators think outside the box, which I think MS tried to do, but the ideas are only half the battle. You also need to convince the public that its innovative. They clearly didn't do that.

Agreed. And besides, how would we really be able to tell come launch time? The PS4 is launching before AND after the XBO so it's really not even going to be noticeable whether or not launching a week before or a week after is significant.

I think they're at a very comfortable spot right now, so they were able to continue with getting aggressive to win back the west, while still ensuring a win in Japan since the home console market is once again left wide open for them as it was in the PS2 era.
