Yeah, coulda sworn mine was $250. Anyways, BORDERLANDS 2!!!! So pumped, glad I never bought that game!
Great little system. Price drop is much needed, though. I still feel a little weird that it would be the same price as a 12GB PS3, but it's better than keeping it at that ridiculously high price point.
@JokesOnYou:
The fact that you don't just want an enhanced 360 or a PS4-like XBO doesn't change with the fact that Kinect is mandatory. The truth is, no matter what peripheral is added to the console, these next gen consoles don't suddenly become just "enhanced" versions of their predecessors.
Furthermore, simply listing what Kinect adds to certain games does nothing for two reasons. Firstly: they're launch titles. The point of a lau...
I see it like this:
I may very well be excited for Kinect, but whether I am or not, a consumer NEEDS the ability to choose, especially when it drives the price up higher than a very capable and more popular competitor.
There is a big difference between ensuring your audience that you'll want a generally unnecessary peripheral and MAKING them buy a generally unnecessary peripheral.
Instead of forcing it, and the price along with it, onto t...
Yup. As much as I would enjoy a 3 hour conference full of gaming goodness, I don't see it being that long. GT likes to fluff up everything they do.
Excited for Gamescom nonetheless!!
@miDnlghtEr-whatever
With all the ridiculously large numbers being thrown around in the world today (the word "trillion" was barely ever used in public 20 years ago), over 200 million might not sound like much but if you think that isn't significant, you've got some serious problems.
200+ million people in 8 different countries is about 2/3 of the US population. Obviously not each and every one of them is going to buy a console, but even if ...
@creatchee:
This is where my argument about the use of launch titles as valuable tools when debating the better console comes into play.
No matter what the company, or the console, you aren't going to get the peak of game quality and production polish that you're looking for. Launch titles aren't used for that. If that were the case, consoles would be sold after less than a year of purchase because everyone already got a taste of the "cream o...
I'm considering it as well for a year or more down the line. I need some space to see if the games develop to a point where I'll need an XBO for the exclusives, since none are appealing to me at the moment (except for maybe one). I'm also waiting as long as possible to see if they put all the awful policies back.
I just want to hear why they thought any of that bull was a good idea to begin with. Their vision was so far off from what anyone was willing to cope with that it makes me wonder what the hell they were thinking.
For me to give them a second chance, I'd need a written, signed document or something saying that they will never attempt to bring any of that back after they develop an install base. All of these flip-flops makes me nervous that they could just wait for the rig...
I'm.... sure you can still do that by just purchasing an XBO bundled with Kinect.
Why make it mandatory? Because you want a Kinect? If you want it, just buy it! I don't wanna be tied to it just because you do..
Yeah, I'm sorry, but after all the 180s they've been pulling, I find it hard to believe this at all.
Online Only - "you can't just flip the switch" *flips the switch*
Used Games - "we're sticking by these policies" *changes policies*
Kinect Must Be Plugged In - "this is how our system works" *doesn't work that way anymore*
I'm getting the PS4 at launch and waiting a while before I pick up an Xbox One.
The sudden changes that MS does keeps bringing up the fact that they could easily change it back once they gain enough of a lead (if that ever happens). I can't help but have that constantly in the back of my mind.
Besides, grabbing a PS4 first means that I'll most definitely be getting a ton of great games.
I'm confused. Wasn't the 360 and PS3 (at very least, the latest models) able to do this?
That's what I'm advocating.
Some fanboys on this site treat the hatred that the XBO gets as something bad when it's probably the main reason why it's becoming more and more appealing with the elimination of the horrible policies set from the beginning.
Unless you wanted the XBO that was revealed in May, I suggest people keep voicing their opinions.
What you may not understand is that, in some cases, there actually ARE people who were tearing the console apart because they really DO want to buy their console, only it wasn't really worth it considering how messy their whole situation is.
You just happen to surround yourself around people on the Internet. Specifically N4G. I mean... what do you expect?
I'm sort of on the fence about the reasons why they should stick with providing Kinect with every XBO, but I think I do agree with you on some aspects.
The only reason I would agree for them to stick their guns in keeping Kinect tethered to every XBO is for the simple fact that - at this point - they look and sound COMPLETELY lost.
Literally everything they had intended to fight for and everything that they said was the vision of the future is demolished....
This is a very big improvement.
Why they didn't bother revealing all the negative aspects of the XBO in their reveal and flip everything according to feedback by E3 will never make sense to me. This would have erased a huge majority of negative press they've gotten all summer, but instead they've gotta work hand-over-fist to make it more closely resemble their competitor.
All that's left is the price - the biggest launch hurdle in my opinion. ...
It's gonna be pretty tough for me to let go of the 360 design for this one since I thought that it was such a comfortable, durable controller. I'm sure I'll get used to it after some time, though.
Still, I'm glad they decided to change some things, specifically that god-awful d-pad.
Seeing as the 360 controller had this ability, I'm not very surprised at all to hear this news.
Good news, anyways.
Day One! It'll give me time to pay off all the games I want in full.
There were a lot of announcements in that conference... I'm glad to see the games coming to Vita, and all of those PS4 titles announced. And Twitch TV? Kinda didn't see that coming.
32 countries. It was an insanely clever move to put the launch in the US before it's second biggest shopping day of the year; Black Friday.
