It sounded like someone was a bit ticked off that Sony's Slim is getting all of the positive press.
What are you talking about?
they approved both...
I believe it's because Sony underestimated the success of the PS2. I imagine they thought the PS2 would die around 2007 or 2008, but it's still selling over 100,000 units a month. Because of this, people are so connected to the PS2, and have such a huge collection of those games, that the PS3 game sales suffer a bit. Stopping PS2 BC will slow down the PS2 and increase PS3 and PS3 games sales.
I remember when everyone said the PS2 was done for... in 2004. Then God of War came out....
True, it is only, what, $100? Everybody and their grandmother has one already.
Considering:
1.The PS3 trails them after a 1 year lead
2.The RROD has not been fully addressed
3.The failure rate has risen to over 50%
4.LIPS is the only exclusive anyone has to look forward to this holiday season
They're in tip-top shape! Seriously, people must be on crack to think they are A-OK. They got some work to do now, and anyone would be out of their minds not to think the same. If you are rooting for MS (which this guy obviously is) then ...
Anyone remember how many "no's" that one got before finally jumping? Hell, Bioshock even got a "Never ever ever coming to PS3" quote but still ended up on the PS3 side.
No isn't ever set in stone nowadays. I'm not saying I want it, because GTA IV was a disappointment to most GTA fans out there (including me, obviously still played, tho). I won't buy it if it ever goes multi.
Oh yeah, that would definitely stop me from getting one. Has all the primary power and multi-media functions plus more, but it's "too ugly"....
Because Sony dominated the gaming industry since 1994. Seeing them control the industry again would be soo annoying to them. It also didn't help when Sony had that "We can sell a product at $1mil and people will still bite" attitude back in the day.
Luckily they got a smack in the back of the head and woke up. It's just too bad the media can't do the same. They're still living in 2006.
1. I like the 360's design. I don't think it's too big at all.
2. I think they aren't slimming it down because they are working on the new 360 Pt. II.
Think about it. The failure rate is over 50% but it hasn't been completely fixed. MS is notorious for leaving their systems behind if it doesn't do what they want it to do. An Xbox 720 will be announced at E3 2010. Or... Xbox Natal? Hmmm =)
I think it's funny how people have been calling the old PS3 the PS3 fat-ass. lol, I like my PS3 Phat, thank you very much =)
Still, this Slim will make it's way into my house. I wanna hear (or not hear in this case) the noise compared to the Phat.
How is a Slim model and a price drop to late for a console scheduled for a 10-14 year life cycle? This is almost it's third full year on the market. The PS2 got a slim on it's 4-5th year and is still going 5 years later.
Swing and a miss...
I don't. More options for the consumer, and now that the Slim is out, this will be the only SKU out there anyways (unless you count the 160GB LE) because they are phasing out the current 80GB.
Just to see how big of a jump it has compared to last month's slump. I'm glad the word spread as fast as it did! Now I can expect more of my friends to join the PlayStation Network =)
Just do what this guy did! Make up nonsense and basically state the exact opposite of what everyone else says. It's never too late to change your strategy. The PS2 had a change at 5 years old to become slimmer, and sales soared even more since then, without a price drop at that time mind you.
Fact of the matter is, people are excited about this, PS3 Phats are flying off the shelves, and things never looked better. This will only increase the sales in the US and especially where t...
Which is why I think it's a great idea making both the "Phat" & "Slim" go at the same price. More choices for the customers!
You can't go wrong with either or. You'd be in heaven with both. And think about the deal you're getting by buying one of these two instead of a Wii, which is now just $50 less than those two monsters (and more expensive in the Arcade's case, but who doesn't want an HDD) =)
They aren't dropping the price of the Elite. Supposedly they are dropping the Pro all together. There hasn't been any word on a price drop at the moment and there wasn't anything on it during Microsoft's conference.
It litterally got announced hours ago and it's already this big? I don't normally say this but... fantastic strategic move on Sony's part. Things are looking really good. Microsoft would have to drop their price again in order to push further ahead (sorry MS). As for the Wii... It's either that or the multi-media HD monster that is the PS3 for $50 more. After the motion controller comes out, what will people choose.
The Slim is actually going to sell for $299 along with the PS3 Fat, which will also sell for $299. Kaz said so in the conference.
It feels like the PS4 is so far. I can't imagine what it'll have!
