Personally, I think the PS4 is a "safer" purchase.

With the Wii U, you don't really know what the software is gonna look like, and you'll be lucky to find a new IP on it that's worth picking it up for.

The Xbox One has had an image problem since it was announced, and despite spending all of E3 trying to convince us otherwise, it failed in the end and now all we see from the MS camp is news about how something on the console has changed ...

I understand why one would see the next generation sales not performing as well as this generation did, but I don't think the Wii U is a good indicator of that.

The next-gen of consoles arrived last year and no one outside of the dedicated enthusiasts even know about it. I think some of it has to do with the name of Nintendo's newest console. On the other hand, if people outside of the industry hear about PlayStation 4 after 7 years of hearing PlayStation 3, I would t...

The first Crackdown was a great game. As long as they don't make a third like they made the second, I'm on board.

I get your logic, but both the AA batteries and cord-tripping could have been avoided altogether if MS went about this differently.

So, MS charges $75 for a controller with a rechargeable battery pack and a slightly new design. The big feature is the rumble in the triggers.

Sony decides to go with a newer, lithium-ion-packed controller that doesn't need AA batteries and instead charges while the system is asleep... and charges $60. It was a total, develop...

For the record: copying and pasting the same tired mathematical argument over and over throughout news threads won't convince anyone that you're right. You DO realize you're using the same argument that Sony fanboys had when comparing PS3 to 360 in terms of features, right?

Oh, how the tables have turned. Boy, oh boy, oh boy...

It's awe-inspiring to think that a laughable rumor would be reason to label this week a "tough" one for the PS4.

I think we can all agree that some of the major turn-offs about the XBO changing along the way is a good thing for everybody, but I highly doubt that the last-minute changes are going to sway the many that already preordered a PS4 to spend the extra for no apparent reason.

I mean, come on... would changing features and policies on the...

@georgeenoob

Before I go any further with my comment... what is with Xbox fans and their impeccable obsession with launch day titles? I hope you realize that those are just titles available on the first day. By the time you finish one of those games, you'll most likely have access to more. Also, most of them are used mostly to showcase and console's new features. Besides, I personally believe the multiplatform lineup is more impressive than the exclusive ones for eith...

I applaud them for changing the policies after they seemed hell-bent on keeping them, but that won't get me to change my mind on which console I'll be getting first.

An actor rarely gets a standing ovation for just a successful Second Act. In order to earn that, they'd need to keep the audience engaged, starting from the very First Act. The same would apply for me here.

I'm not gonna replace my PS4 preorder with an XBO one. Simply put - despit...

Honestly, it's impossible to tell whether or not it'll be a success this early. Although pre-order sales are indicative of what their launch will be like in terms of sales, you really can't make an assumption for the long-term.

If the sixth and seventh generation is to be a good indicator, though, it can end up being even more difficult to tell.

The PS2 launched a year before the Xbox. By the end of the generation, it managed to sell over 24 milli...

@gamertk421:

Your objective as a journalist (especially when publishing an editorial) isn't to "be nice" or not come off as a jerk. It's simply to express opinion on the matter.

Whether he was trying to be kind or not, trying to defend yourself on the internet after writing an article makes your article come off as incomplete or not well thought-out, which is why you would feel compelled to continue your argument in comment threads.

@Krosis:

Simply adding a "what if" scenario to something that didn't happen does nothing to add to the discussion.

"If it was about the Xbox One instead of PS4, no one would be defending it!!"

Okay, sure. Let's say that's true. Even if that were the case, what does that have to do with the topic at hand? Was your comment made to direct focus toward the bias you perceive on this site? Because that would render y...

While I respect your bravery for publishing such a boldly-headlined article, I do see some complications and, as a disclaimer, none of what I say really matters as this is just an opinion piece and not your way of convincing people that the console will fail.

Firstly, and as it should be noted, your points as to why the PS4 has nothing to offer is purely opinion. Because of what Sony put into the hardware, there is potential for gamers to find plenty that the console will off...

I know it'll never happen, but if Naughty Dog comes back to make a new Crash Bandicoot game similar to Warped somewhere down the line for this upcoming generation, I will officially be the happiest gamer on the face of this solar system.

At the risk of sounding over-dramatic, I'd say that the self-publishing movement that Sony has going for next gen is really a revolutionary thing for the industry.

This ease of development gives the indie developers the motivation and inspiration to create and publish games that would have never seen the light of day during the 7th and especially 6th generation of consoles.

It's a policy like this that ushers in games that are extremely fun and innova...

It's sad to hear these ridiculous conspiracy theories going around on the Xbox camp about how Sony fanboys are behind every negative aspect that comes out of Microsoft.

MS made their own bad choices, much like Sony did when the PS3 launched. Too bad, so sad, get over it.

Hell, I remember Sony fans constantly sh*tting on Nihilistic for completely screwing up two - count'em - TWO major titles on the Vita with no remorse. If you're a fan of games, yo...

I, like countless others, are glad that they got rid of it.

That's why I love a multi-console environment. The competition makes these billionaires actually work for their money.

Without Sony directly addressing the Xbox One's issues and basking in our reactions to it, Microsoft would have never felt forced to change things. I fully believe that we spoke with our dollars as opposed to our voices. That's the only way you get through to them (Sony c...
