I agree with the statement that it is the 3rd on the XB360 - therefore it will not sell as well. First one on PS3 - so the TR fans has only one game to get for PS3 in the series. Makes sense.
My kids liked the PS2 game. For some reason the idea of being an alien running around zapping people appealed to them.
Use as swap does not mean 512MB avaialable memory. Just means it will runs as usual - and instead of swapping to HD it will swap to DDR3 RAM. Will just speed up the swapping operation - not enable it to run more in memory. So all in all - only improvement will be in swap memory speed.
The avatars they created just looks weird. Someone said they look like MS employees. Someone else said it looks like serial killers.
I think it just have no character. If you look at Peanuts - the lead character is Charlie Brown. He defines the story. Or like Archie. You have all the other characters - but Archie defines the comic. Or like Dilbert. Many characters - but Dilbert is the character that defines the series.
Now in this avatars - there is no defining char...
LBP was hyped as a best seller - and to be honest - it is not. As I said in other threads - I think the PS3 owners may be more mature players - interested in R2 and KZ2, MGS4, GT5 and the like than a kiddies game.
I think in order for it to do well - Sony needs to expand their causal gamer / kiddies line-up and make a bundle that focus on that market. Bundles up to now focused on the 18+ gamer - not the 5 year olds. They left that market to the Wii.
LBP is for kids - and for those who enjoy making their own levels.
PS3 titles are mostly 16+ age on the cover. So with a system that catered for the mostly adult game market (KZ2, MGS4, R2, GT5 etc) is not exactly a "kiddies" console. Yeah R&C is sort of kiddies game - but this is the first truly casual / kiddies game for the console. And the sales show. I think the PS3 owners is more interested in KZ2 and MGS5 etc than LBP.

More space. But that is true with HD-DVD - which would be adequate. But the biggest awesome feature is something that has nothing to do with the format really - which is the coating. Only BR has it as standard, and nothing stops CD and DVD to use the same coating. I tended to be cautious of 2nd hand PS2 games - but the PS3 plays the scratched disks OK and don't add any scratches. For me I don't care what the reviews say about MGS, The GetAway, Resistance, Ratchet & Clank, Gran Turismo, Jak & Daxter, Killzone franchises. I will get them anyway.
For new IP I tend to look at the early reports - and ignore the later reports - as the 1Up, Eurogamer etc start their negative buildup about a month or two before the release to hate on it. So I tend to ignore the final reviews.
Will not be standard this gen. Too late to add on and make standard. Same as with Wiimote for PS3 or XB360. Add-on yes, but not standard.
If I would consider a XB360 - best would be at least 160GB. At least with PS3 i can buy a new 320GB and without any hassles install it. With XB360 you must make your purchase of HD option from the start - otherwise you are gonna pay through your nose.
Interesting that Kotaku now admits to read errors. But this should solve this issue - as well as the noisy drives issues. Good for XB360 owners to have this. Enjoy.

I think what the rest had was a "lead" character. Something that defined the rest. This is just a me-too attempt.
Just install to HD... MS realized this is a good idea. Sucks if you have the diskless version or a small HD. Hope for the XB brethren that they start dropping the bigger HD prices.
btw BR is awesome. Just bought a number of 2nd hand games - and the BR disks looks like new.
There is PS-style 3rd party controllers for the XB, and XB style 3rd party controllers for the PS3. Get one of those if you the grass is greener in the other side - controller wise.

I would like to see BC in the console. Thinking of buying a second console. Have the 60GB Euro model with BC - and must say - nearly all the PS2 games that I have work - most better than on the PS2. If I get a second machine - I will pay more to have BC.

But I think LBP will win it. The user created content - shortly after release already over 84,000 levels. It is fresh and new. But again - the kids loved it - my wife liked them playing a non-violent game.

They make me think od the South African Broadcasting Company. They produced a soapie and had it on prime time. The public hated it. They lashed out and said the public don't appreciate quality content.
