- All my PS2 titles work - and I have over 40 of them (Euro model - SW BC)
- My machine runs really really cool.
- It is very silent - the slimline PS2 sounded like a plane compared to the PS3
- The BR disks are amazing. Best quality. Not a scratch on any of the 6 I have.
- It does not scratch my old disks. In fact - where my DVD player and PS2 refuses - the PS3 reads them.
- It looks amazing. Great looking mach...
My internet is a bit slow here in South Africa. Will not be spending much time online... Have fun...
Most of - actually - could not find a PS2 title that I own for PS2 that does not work on PS3. The PS2 is shelved now - but the games not. Sony gives great value wit their products. MS will drop XB360 owners like they did with 95, NT, XBox etc.
If a great PS2 only title is released, I will still be able to play it. Great.
Was a good game. Good storyline, good graphics. Still play it - on my PS3. Plays better on the PS3 actually.
What we are likely to see in 4d for the next year or so will be tech demo's. Then we will see a few attempts in a some games experimenting with it. Some Game Engines will start taking advantage of it - but limited. Some game will come out that focuses on it, and it will likely become a cult favorite - but will likely shape the way forward.
When the next gen starts - MS will be talking up 4d and their "innovative" use of it - along with their offering "value"...
My kids play the PS2 games on the PS3 (Euro model, SW BC). One of the reasons I will not buy another type of console is because all of the old titles still work on the PS3.
They wrote off a Billion this year. The expect to lose a Billion each year for the next two years - same as this year for repairs. The three year warranty is basically a recall. During three years nearly every console out would make a visit to the repair shop and get fitted with the new heat sink. And then they will have to add an extra game to keep customers happy. So XB360 owners - good news for you. You should get your XB360 repaired free- and get a free title to keep you quiet. Much bett...
And because they committed to HD-DVD early on, they will support it to the end. Very little chance that they will go BR exclusive until HD-DVD is dead and buried, which will happen after they move anyway.
Good move on their side. They might get a couple of double sales - as some people who owned a title on HD-DVD will get the BR title also.
If you want to play the game alone - then it is not much fun. Could be the best multi player game out at the moment, and be the most popular online game, but it would really be nice to have missions to play single.
The eyetoy games was great. With more processing power and better camera it will be hard to fail.
People playing the Beta had so much fun it was extended. Now it is down to 6.5. Something does not add.
Adds to the game. I keep on replaying the Motorstorm intro. It is really cool. The cutscene with the bass voice giving the introduction... really good. It all adds to the atmosphere. If they can put more on 50GB, let them. Don't compress to pacman sounds. Give us the rich audio and nice cutscenes. Use the 50GB available.. spoil us with it. If you want to whine about not cutting back to fit into 7GB, well - that is your problem.
Don't use until Service Pack 2. That is true for all their OS history.

Sales jumped with the first value pack. Since many are waiting for HS, why not score with the value pack? The PS2 had those as well - and it worked then too. There was a GT4 value pack, a MGS2 value pack. Could be that it was just in store promotions, but it offers good value. The XB360 had bundles as well. The PS3 value pack is great value.

Don't know the numbers down in South Africa, can only comment on what I see in the stores. The PS3 was out of stock here for about four months, back in stock since last month again. Got mine with the bundle deal - still waiting for the R:FOM game however. Wonder whats up with that? Are they releasing a new version without the church scene?
Down here people buy more PS3's since the bundle deal. Had to go from shop to shop to get one - had to be put on a waiting list. No interest...
Their reputation is so in shreds that the moment the thing boots up and any red light comes on the machine gets send back. Wonder if I can send a car that has three or four red lights on and see if they will send me a new car?
There can be a little bit of truth in it. Still, bad sign that people will send it in when they even think they saw a red light prob.

It makes sense to compete with the PS3. MS should have the HD-DVD build-in to compete. Pity they did not go with Blu-Ray. We will have to see how this one sells. If it does very well, then expect MS to offer a build-in HD-DVD XB360.
The kids are playing R&C 2 on the PS3 at the moment. It is one of the games they enjoyed most. They take a look at screens of the upcoming one, can't wait, and start replaying the old ones to warm up for the new one.
For them, this is one of the most anticipated titles.
First two Haze looks better. Shaper at least. Third one Halo looks better. Pretty equal mostly anyway.
Proof will be in the pudding. Some games looks good and plays.. well... not so good. Some games look very simple put keeps you entertained for hours...
The only way to know is to play both and see which one is the better one to play. But graphics wise they seem pretty much the same to me.

Not the reviewers. If all the gamers spend their time on Tetris - then it is a AAA title - even if the reviewers give it a 2. If the reviewers give it a 11, and you spend 5 minutes on it - never to touch it again - same as the rest of the gamers - then it is not a AAA title - regardless of what the reviewer thinks. Simply put - Gran Turismo is a AAA title. Great quality, great attachment from players.
