Keep on using the Blu Ray coating. I spoke to many of the shops - they see many XB360 and PS2 titles that are scratched. But the Blu Ray disks is amazing. Not a scratch on the disks. I have 8 disks now - and with non stop playing - not even a hint of a scratch. Please - don't go to the cheap coating of the DVD's or CD's. Rather get the DVD's and CD's to change their coating.
This is still early days. Heck - the previous gen saw people becoming obsessed with the console "race".
All three will do well. XB360 mostly in USA. Sony in Europe. And Wii in... well... everywhere.
Heck - I tried one out - and I will most probably get a Wii if the PS3 does not get a similar thing to the Wii controller. I really rocks. With the PS3 lineup finally gathering steam, many will start upgrading from PS2.
Many millions old, very active online - the game is a success. Should not have gotten 10/10 reviews - but in the long term the reviewers and the magazines is going to take the knock for that as they lost the reputation and influence.
Bottom line - with all the hype, a good enough product - they sold a ton, made their money - many play it and is happy. They did not screw up much.
The 720p issue is a non-issue if the game looks well and performs well. Only for the...
All the XBox thingie is, is a strategy to keep Sony from moving out of the console territory into the desktop market with Linux on PS3. If it takes off it will eat into the Windows market and MS will lose the initiative. They will throw Billions more into the hole to keep the consoles away from the Windows market. If a PS3 with Linux and OpenOffice becomes too common, it will cause MS to loose a potential Media Centre sale... and the consumer will be hooked onto Linux as desktop OS early on. ...
Lift the TCP/IP stack from BSD and put it in Windows - without giving anything back.
Take Kerboros, make it incompatible with the original, give nothing back.
The list is long if you want to get into it. MS don't innovate. They embrace, extend, extinguish. Take the open protocol, add extensions to make it incompatible in the second generation, and extinguish the competition by breaking compatibility by leveraging the client with the server OS and excluding the so...
This would be it's only chance of survival. The XB360 with HD-DVD drive would put it on equal footing with Blu-Ray in terms of a mass market device that will push it.
The PS3 memory for the OS will make certain features available across all online titles - like chat, video etc. For the XB360 those features will be in the game code. So if the memory is in the OS or game - it will even out. Difference is that the PS3 features will be same right across titles.
Halo 3 demo a mess. Did not come with the full release package.
There - another "review" in the same high standard.
To people who post these fanboyish blurbs as reviews... Devs work really hard to give us good quality games. And I include in this Halo 3, Forza, GT, MGS4, KZ2, Lair, Warhawk etc.
If you want to post "reviews", please first test their hard work fully before typing away and posting. They deserve at lease fair comment - and...
Pre-ordered my copy.
At the moment I have:
- Transformers (Kids like it for some reason)
- Ratotouille (Not getting played much)
- Heavenly Sword (OK game. Wife likes it - the motion control bits)
- Warhawk (Great game - everyone plays it)
- Pirates of the Caribbean (Not getting played at all)
- Motorstorm (Great game - well - I like it)
- R:FOM (Great game)
But.. the kids keep on playing PS2 Spy vs Spy and R&...
So they upscaled a 1280x1080 to 1920x1080. So it is double 720p with 1280 upscaled to 1920. Hell - sounds good to me - actually better than anything else out there at the moment - and be careful about trashing this comment - it might be true.
To the fanboys on both sides - very very very few titles will run in native 1080p. And as good as the devs got things right now - those titles will be in the 3rd / 4th year of the console.
Heck - the XB360 cannot event get ...
Both looks worse than a GT4 screenshot or Forza 1 or PGR. Pics from a TV screen at low resolution and you call this a "comparison"? Get real. This is stupid.
XGamer:"This needed BR for the ps3 b/c of Hours and hours and hours of video he said (ps3 doesn't compress well),"
Wow... are you trying for the stupid award or something? A compression algorithm is about crunching numbers. And if you check - it is something the Cell CPU's SPU's does better than anything else. And then you try do drag the PS2 game MGS2 in as supporting evidence. Wow. Just absolutely wow. I programmed for years. If you ever apply for a position as a pr...
I guess when they released the PS2 slimline with a different CPU it must have made the older PS2 obsolete? Wait! It did not. It was just smaller with different components and the same feature set.
Or wait! When the XB360 started using the 65nm chips it must have rendered all the previous XB360's obsolete. Well... with all the RROD's that might actually be true...
Or wait! When they changed the DVD drive in the XB360 that must have made the previous model obsolete...
"Like strays squabbling over a few bare bones. Thats what PS3 owners have been reduced to."
You never played Ratchet & Clank or Jak & Daxter. The PS2 versions of these games are so good, that after finishing it a number of times, my kids are still playing them on the PS3. And I have around 50 games titles at the moment. A new Ratchet & Clank game is a must have. You could only wish to get it on the XB360. Heck - even the old PS2 versions with no graphical ...
I think it will be a good move from MS. The options they have is:
1) Release games on HD-DVD for the large content games.
2) Release the multi DVD disks as well. One of the DVD's can be the dual - flip side HD-DVD. That way they will still cater for those with HD-DVD and those with older models.
This way they can try to support HD-DVD - and try to undermine the BR steamroller. Nothing else will stop the BR but a XB360 with build in HD-DVD. And that is a fa...
I think the reviewers must review the way reviews are scored.
Make R&C a 7 or 8. Re-rank the rest of the platform games against this.
It will most likely get a couple of 10/10 scores - which will mean that we don't expect much improvement in titles over the PS3 life cycle - which is kind of stupid. We expect a lot of improvement in the next couple of years - but then - if we have 10/10 handed out like cookies - then what will indicate the improvements?
So this game is so good - that even with all the bias against the PS3 they could not find enough to mark it down. Wow. If it was on the other console it would be 12/10 then.
R&C is a great series. Don't expect from even the most biased sites to be able to find anything to give it below 9. And even if they do - still day 1 purchase for those who played the previous R&C games.
Must be. How else will you be able to fit 600,000 weapons on a DVD drive...
Just kidding.
Give it 7/10. Rate the rest against that benchmark. If this gets 10/10 then MGS5 will be 12/10.
So after searching everywhere the reviewers could not get it down lower than 9.0... Live must be hard for them. Such a good game and no flaws to jump on than whine that is very much like the previous titles. And the previous R&C was great. So great that my kids still play it on the PS3.
One can nearly pity the poor reviewers who must be heartbroken that they could not find something to pound on. Well - lets hear from some who own both consoles and pit R&C:TOD against so...
