Sony is making a profit on the hardware. Many 2nd hand titles available at stores for less than 1/2 price. For a cash strapped family wanting to play some games - the PS2 is great - no - superb value. You can get Johny gaming with many new and great old titles for a fraction of getting other consoles.
Heck - if they add a Wii like controller to it, it will start the PS2 on a new roll. Over here the PS2 section is still 3 times bigger than all the other console sections combined...
The PS3 and Sony's titles will make the BR stay alive if HD-DVD start pulling a 2:1 sales rate - which is quite unlikely.
It is up to HD-DVD to keep a niche for itself with a couple of exclusive publishers. The ones making constant statements is HD-DVD - quite like the Iraq Minister of Information about how they are winning when in the background you see the enemy tanks rolling in.

Games will always be behind the latest Pixar graphics. Simply because they can render a scene using a supercomputer taking 5 minutes on a frame to get all the raytracing done.
But as far as games go - R&C - until Uncharted gets released seems to be the closest to a Pixar movie experience. It is all good. You know... when companies give low rankings to keep a game from the suddenly "official" AAA rating - and detractors keep on looking for reasons why a game not on their platform should not be this "official AAA" ranking - just sad.
Uncharted will not be "officially AAA", because - of course - two or three sites will come out with a 4-6 score - depending on how much is required to keep it from the "official AAA" ranking.

There is not a specific game on XB360 to compare with - so we won't know if it can or can't be done on it.
It seems to be a great title - lot of buzz generated. It will do well, and regardless of what reviewers say or what game is GOTY, we will know in a year's time if this is a benchmark game and if it had replay value.
Now just how is "better value" defined?
What are the elements that make up the "better value"

Price of the player (HD-DVD)
Capacity (BR)
Transfer Speed (BR)
Nr of Titles (BR)
Price of Titles (BR or =)
So this means in their definition "Better Value" is not a compound score, just Price of Player = Better Value. So just stop the BS and just say the HD-DVD player is cheape...
Players decide what is AAA, not reviewers. There is no "official" AAA rating.
Get real kids. I have a PS3, will maybe get a Wii if the Eye can't do the same mid next year.
But this 1080p thing is silly. Only very simple games will be in native 1080p. Mostly all 1080p games for XB360 and PS3 is not native 1080p, but upscaled from very similar native resolutions.

It is up to HD-DVD to carve a niche for its survival. For how long the future will tell. BR has the studio support, and the huge PS3 installed base. BR outsells HD-DVD 2:1. Down here there is not a single HD-DVD player or title in stores. Funny that HD-DVD is making a stand in the US. Would have thought Toshiba would try Japan for it. But maybe it is just MS trying to keep the competing format alive.

It is a game. It uses controllers. A person running around fighting other virtual characters. Therefore it is Tomb Raider (jungle), or GoW (both, running around killing other things) ripoff.

It is getting a bit old. But $99 is good value even for a souped up DVD player.
Great Quality. All Sony products are usually more expensive - but you get quality. Everyone knew the story was BS when it was posted. Funny how they had to make it 40%. Just had to be more than 30%. That should have started the alarm bells already.
Before I can play a game, I have to take 5 hours to count the pixels from some screen shot comparison from an unknown source - when the devs say something different. Good going there mate. Get a friggin life.

I think they now have a database of comments running - they already man the board 24/7 - carefully select how to spread FUD, attack, belittle, and in general just spread the impression that the PS3 is not good. Keep it up Mart, it is backfiring.
The PS3 is a great machine, BR disks are amazing, scratch resistant (don't even see the FUD about how much easier BR was supposed to get scratched etc). All in all - a great quality pac...
Still think the game rocked enough according to many to make it worthwhile for my dragon loving kids. They will love just soaring around the beautiful landscapes on the dragon frying things at random.
I have 4 PS3 controllers already. But rumble does not add that much - the sound actually adds so much that I don't miss rumble. But if I want another controller then I will get one...
