Multicore programming is new. The way they need to program for PS3 will actually make the code run better on the XB360 as well. This has been confirmed by many devs. Good move - as the coding for multicore will improve - and we will get better games.
Review sites just don't make the grade. Irrelevant to game purchases for me. But then - this is not news anymore.
I will be able to play all those titles on the PS3 with BC. So it will be a good move from Sony. Sell to both user bases.
There is enough great 1st and 2nd party titles coming out for the PS3.
Buy for the console you have. If you have both, then buy the one at the lowest price, or if you fear that your XB360 might RRod, get the PS3 version. Also - since the XB360 has more titles, get the PS3 one. Give both systems a workout. Not an issue really. With the new heatsinks, if your XB360 - send it in under the 3 year total recall, get it back with the bigger heatsink and that should sort the RRoD problem out.
Or better - which controller do you like most for this type of ...
Well - the big news to me is:
- Seems like MS is finally getting a handle on the RRoD problem.
- Seems like PS3 is getting steady stream of good ports
- PS3 is getting good exclusives
Seems like it is a win for everyone. Even for the rabid fans comparing ports and exclusives.
In this order:
R&C:TOD
Eye of Judgement
Uncharted
Assassins Creed
Call Of Duty 4
Lair (yeah yeah, but I still think it looks like fun)
Can't understand why people (Sony and MS fans) comparing this with Uncharted. Arguments going both ways as if the two are direct competitors. Both look great. Uncharted is PS3 exclusive, Creed is multi - and runs equally well on both PS3 and XB360. They are not even the same. Only thing they share is similar release time frame.
Please let go of this stupid comparisons. I will most probably get Uncharted this year, and Creed next year - but I will get both. Both seems too good ...
More difficult to mod. Seems like the Wii is a pushover in this regard.
Can't wait for this one. Checked out an Intro Video at a game store today - it looks like a lot of fun - if you like card games.
Long term it will be good news. I have the Euro model - I keep on buying pre-owned PS2 titles now - because there is quite a number of good games that I don't have yet - and they are good value. Around 25% of new titles price. So what to do what to do? Buy 4-5 games, or one? Well - if they stop the BC - then the option is not available anymore. And with people getting rid of their old PS2 titles - the market is suddenly flooded with good 2nd hand games that I never played because - well - buy...
Mesh you poor sod. Better AA does not mean a better picture. Actually - at higher resolutions AA becomes less needed than lower resolution. AA is just a technique to soften lines - little bit of color play to soften a jagged line. Blur if you would. It actually does not improve the image. Just makes the edges appear less jagged. And at high resolutions - the jagged edges becomes less noticeable.
And to those comparing it with Uncharted - don't. It is not the same type of game....
I have a PS3. I bought around 10 PS2 titles - to play on the PS3. Reason? Well - not enough new PS3 titles, and also - the PS3 reader rocks. Games that don't work on the PS2 anymore due to scratches works fine on the PS3. Previously I would not touch a pre-owned PS2 game - now I buy lots - at bargain basement prices. Around 25% of their original price - knowing they will work fine on the PS3.
And this may also be a reason behind the BC removed from the 40GB unit. PS3 titles mu...
Adding a bit of mod features. But in the end it is about driving cool cars at great speed around some interesting track against others. And this is what GT excels at.
I have GT3 and GT4. Great games. The license area is brilliant. You learn quite a bit about the difference in handling with the FWD/RWD/4WD position of the engine etc combinations when doing the same test in different vehicles. The difference in weather / road conditions, tyres, downforce etc. That is what I loved...
I have a PS3. Thinking about getting a Wii too. (If my wife agreed I would have had it in today, but it was not to be.)
I don't like MS. It think the XB360 is poor quality, and have no innovative title. Just old IP with a bit of a rehash - improving on existing titles with zero innovation.
But it will not be over. Not by a long shot. There will be a XB720 or XBrev3 or whatever it will be called. Will Sony be ahead when all is said and done in 5 years? I think so....
My kids, well one of them - the one who loves the card games, was with me in a store today. The store owner played a video of EOJ when I asked him when it will be available. My kid's jaw dropped - and kept on watching this game mesmerized. He loves Warhawk, R:FOM, R&C, Ninja G Sigma etc and the card games. But this one really rocked his little world. And this was just after we played around with the Wii. Might actually pick up a Wii at some point - it is really cool.
I exp...
Sony can take on XB360 and HD-DVD at once. For the other two it is one punch each. For Sony it is a one two punch - and it will show as this gen progresses.
The only part left is for more decent PS3 titles, which seems to be coming. I will take it on even further - can Sony take on XB360, HD-DVD and Wii? And if the Eye delivers on the 3d from single camera promise, gets bundled with some games and gets bundled with the PS3 at some point - then hell yes they can - and win as wel...
Data transfer much higher on HDMI. IT is the next leap. It is digital - so picture will be perfect. At the moment we should not see much difference - but in future when we see support for Deep Color - then we will see the difference in for example the range of shades in black (and every other color). The data transfer will be too high for the rest - and you will need HDMI - but for now - there is not really titles out there that takes advantage of this.
The big reason of course...
When you can have a whole TV series on one Blu Ray instead of ten DVD's or two HD-DVD's? Great reasoning there pal.
The more space, the better. The faster the transfer speed the better. The rest is software.
In the company of Halo 3, Wii controller... calling R&C:TOD a Watershed moment is quite huge. Wll done to the devs.
To the reviewers:
We need to have a redo of all the reviews. Because R&C is so early in the PS3 life, we would expect that this is only a sign of things to come. Understand... only a sign of things to come. So this game can not be a 10/10 score. It might be the pinnacle of games today - but it is only in the beginning of the PS3 lifecycle - so if it...
