Looks the same, works the same, still as reliable as always, just less power consumption. To the consumer in general - no difference.
They are updating the features surely and steadily. Good going. So next fw update we will get in game XMB maybe. Both consoles keeps on adding stability and features with the updates.
Blu Ray will never loose because of the studio backing and the PS3. It is just up to HD-DVD to justify a second player in the HD format war. And with the 51GB cap at the moment - and BR going 100GB and 200GB, well - it is not difficult to predict that HD-DVD can do nothing else but carve a small niche market for itself for survival. It will never dominate.
Over here there is not even a HD-DVD player or title in any store that I could see. But BR is available everywhere - usuall...
That is about the only reason to get a 65nm chip set PS3. It will look the same, do the same stuff, just run cooler (not that the PS3 runs hot now), use less power. And that is all. People won't even notice the difference unless they open it up and look very carefully at the chips.
Hope it comes to the PS3. Great games the previous ones.
Maybe we should add some hints for reviewers wanting to bash PS3 games... like:
- Too much variety
- Looks better that what we believe it technically really is
- Gameplay not innovative - it uses the controller
- It does not fill up the entire BR disk
- Sound quality is better than what my HiFi can output
You know... things like that... so they can excel at what they do - sound stupid trying to bash a game because it is good and dared ...
Spoke to the retailers in my area. They are getting a lot of XB360 returns - not PS3 returns. Just a bit of flame bait article to try and "even out" the unreliability fiasco of RRoD and disk scratching by the XB360.
One retailer somewhere in the world - with the disclaimer that it was not experienced elsewhere... Yeah right. Desperate one.
Good to see them adding new features every firmware release. Come on bring on the XMB in game functionality already...
Seems like the devs are still getting their heads around the techniques to get full 1080p running on the consoles. Interesting how it shifts in resolution between titles - then PS3 has higher native resolution, then the XB360 has higher native resolution. No clear "winner" at the moment on which console can actually handle the higher resolution yet.
Would have loved to see a real PS2 portable. PSP is great - but if it was a PS2 compatible portable it would have been better.
Ace combat is a great series. When they release for PS3 I will get this one. Seems like they are getting good scores at the moment.
They will drop it as soon as they fall behind in the console race. MS is known for their disloyal tactics - they will drop the XB360 as soon as they 720 is ready - and they will want to have a two year lead this time since the Wii overtook the XB360 in less than a year.
Would like all the functions - but I agree with the ranking.
I don't care about buddy lists...
Not really that into the XMB functions in game
Really would like to have my own music in games rather than some of the horrible music that I don't like in some games.
After all - online in South Africa sucks big time... so the music function is something that will actually add value - until we get decent online here.
It proves that even a glorified DVD player can outdo the XB360 on games. Oh no... the sky is falling on us. Crippled CPU not suitable for games and glorified DVD player can still outdo the best MS can bring to the table...
Just joking...
Seems like they made well on the hype and the game looks good on both platforms. Great going. I will get this one as well.... Seems like quite a bit of must have titles for the PS3 this year: R&C, Uncharted, HS, COD, EOJ, Sin...
One of my kids love the Yo Gi Oh games. Showed him the trailer the other day in the shop and he sat mesmerized watching this game. He can't wait to get his hands on them pack of cards under the camera. We will have a tough time getting some playtime on the PS3 when I get him this game.
Looks brilliant. Great doing on Sony's part even if this game will only appeal to a limited market. This is what a tech fundie loves - some super cool new tech with a traditional game. Count me i...
The PS2 just won't die!
Came out first last gen, and two years into the current gen gets a new model. Talk about staying power. Still some life left in the platform. Some great new games getting released for it. Best buy for budget. This is the console that defined this decade without a doubt.
If the XB360 shots look better - the PS3 fans claim the gameplay matter more. When the PS3 version is better - the XB360 suddenly are not as interested in the comparison and frame rate as in the previous thread where the XB360 came out tops. Where will it end?
Just enjoy the game folks. The devs did a good job - so stop bashing the other version. They are close enough, and because it is multi platform - share the same assets in game most likely.
Toshiba is a large and good company. They are trying to do with the low cost player what Sony is doing with the PS3. Loss leader to corner the market for the content. You are likely to spend 10 times as much on content than on the player over its lifetime - so the business case is valid to take a hit on the player.
HD-DVD will still lose - but they are not going to give up without a fight.
The PS3 firmware update is around the corner. The functions that the XB360 implement in the game code (chat, video, ranking etc) will be implemented in the XMB on the PS3 - to be available and virtually identical across games in the PS3. So the online functionality will get an "upgrade" with the new firmware for PS3 - if the game incorporated the integration with the XMB functionality. Time will tell which one is the better approach - in game code - or in the OS. For games without n...
It was news when there was doubts if the PS3 is really more powerful. Now it caught up, and is surpassing - even if only marginally enough to ignore. So the early ports the XB360 win, and now the PS3 is winning slightly. Woohoo. Yippee. Great. Shalom. Now stop posting this crap.
