This will mean that all the new games will have the new features. It does not need to be added in with the game. This would also mean - whenever a new XMB update becomes available, all the games will have it. Having it as a feature outside of the game code is in the long term a better option I think. Little bit late in ariving - but three months after it is available - all the talk about it will be gone - replaced with the latest expected in camera gesture communication with online buddies - ...
Mr Marbles - I would rather have stability (no RRoD) with more features later, than a feature full machine that has to be returned every month.
Whatever the feature arguments was - the PS3 caught up on the software side - and still has BR. No chance of the XB360 catching up with that now.
Multi platforms are getting closer and closer - with the differences becoming less and less between the two.
Great whoop. Both are playable and good enough. The exclusives show a bit more on the PS3, while multi platforms mostly have the XB360 as lead platform (for now) and a bit better quality. So during this year we start seeing platforms becoming identical for both platforms. Exclusives will have to make up the reason which platform you get.
BR is supposed to be dead...
Then I will buy it. I have the PS2 version which works with strings - and the Golf game. Actually works quite well.
Both types are enjoyable. If GOW2 comes to the PS3 I will most likely buy it. Thinking that MGS4 is the greatest game since Tetris is not going to stop me from getting GOW2. It will not make me like MGS4 less. Kojima is not going to make a GOW or a GT5. So I will get GT5 and GOW (if it comes to the PS3) from the other publishers.
So if Cliffy won't make MGS4, thank goodness that Kojima did.
All will be forgotten. By the end of the year people will think it was released at launch...
You have a feeling it will make it on the two consoles?
Well... for the past year they have been saying that it will come to the two consoles. No need for feeling anything here.
The more "vibrant" colors story again...
Both can output the same colors - it is just a selection of color palette - not a proof of the quality output.
Seems like both is good and playable. Just enjoy the game.
I am sure some people buy a game and start running to his foe / friend with a competing console to start comparing...
So when the girls come over... they play with your Wii...
Nice...
Dont play with my WII...
Rather play with MY Wii
Worldwide hardware unit sales (increase/decrease year-on-year ):
PS2: 13.73 million units (a decrease of 0.98 million units)
PSP: 13.89 million units (an increase of 4.36 million units)
PS3: 9.24 million units (an increase of 5.63 million units)
Worldwide software unit sales (increase/decrease year-on-year ):
PS2: 154.0 million units (a decrease of 39.5 million units)
PSP: 55.5 million units (an increase of 0.8 million units)
Uncharted 2, Jak & Daxter... bring em on.
MGS sold 59% less - most probably around 600,000. If it keeps it up for another couple of weeks - then it will be the best selling PS3 title. HW sales up 180% means it moves hardware. Looking good - even against a 7 platformer release topping the charts. Heck - not a failure as the tone of the articles try to hype. If that is failure - then I am all for failures of that magnitude.
With a ten year life cycle, losing money on the first two years on the hardware is not much.
On the PS3 costs recovered was for Cell CPU, Blu Ray development etc.
Now BR diodes is cheap, the CPU and GPU is becoming cheap - all in all - the hardware will be breaking even and making profit end of this year.
What did they make on:
PS2 Hardware sales (very cheap to manufacture now, still selling very well)
PS2 and PS3 software (sales like ...
What about Core owners? They cannot install. Only way would be to make a mandatory install - in which case MS are forcing Core owners to buy to overpriced HD. Not fair.
No... I think they will just repeat the Cars or the Tracks on both disks - just depending on which takes the least space on the DVD. Will be a problem at some point when both the tracks and car models becomes too big for a single DVD - then they will have to make track / car matching on disk sets.
Jsut imagine the possibility that they will release the XB720 with a BR drive - and think of the impact on XB360 sales. Most likely it will be able to play XB360 games (if they stay with ATI for the graphics) - they own the IP anyway - so most likely it will be. That would kill of enthusiasm for the XB360 - and pitch it as a PS3 competitor. It will make MS look like they are gicing up on the XB360 in order to compete with the PS3 with BR. Don't expect any solid news until 6 - 12 months before...
The stats showed 180% increase in PS3 hardware sales. So it is *not* a system seller?
Again... it seems like a media campaign to downplay and trash the PS3 going on at the moment.
MGS sold around 600,000 for the week (59% drop). Not too bad. That would mean it is now over 2 million.
Lego Indiana Jones is on many platforms - wonder if we compared PS3 sales only, or any game on single platform, if MGS4 would still be on top (most likely).
And within three months the whining about having to start over to get trophies will have disappeared. Most probably will give games that was lying on the shelve new life as some will try to proof themselves.
