They are a third party dev. They go for max sales. Don't expect loyalty from them. If I were a dev in their position, then I would have done the same. Just calculate how much sales they will generate for both consoles vs only one console, and then think about how much they will ask for exclusives.
I don't care much for the FF games. Could be a way for MS to get some respect from the Japanese crowd. They like this type of game.
I played the demo for PS2 once... never got to like this type of game so far. The Japanese seems to like these games a lot.
This game seems to be great according to XB360 owners. I will most probably get it.
R:FOM is the best in its genre for me so far. Many will disagree, but the original KZ is the only game of this type that I like about the same. COD 4 was nice, but I like KZ more. R:2 - bring it on!
Warhawk is still the best multiplayer game in my opinion. 4 player split screen.. best I have played.
Bring on Warhawk 2.
The profile of many gamers like myself -
I am a programmer of around 20 years experience - not in the console indutry though - but I always loved tinkering with the insides of the machine that I buy. I bought the PS3 to run Linux on it...
Many console owners are technology enthuisiasts... and the PS3 really is interesting for that portion of the crowd...
Last gen was defined by the PS2. The other consoles was just too similar.
This gen is defined by three things:
- Motion (Wii is the winner)
- BR (PS3 is the winner)
- Online (XB360 ahead, but PS3 catching up rapidly)
Well... four if you want to include RRoD
Wii has exclusive great motion controller, PS3 has BR exclusive. Only thing XB360 has exclusive is the RRoD
I have a PS3, love the architecture, but this article over simplifies the tech. The 256MB XDR is not "freely" access as he puts it. There is some latency.
But split memory is better. Just when textures comes up that is too big for 256MB, then some other techniques must be used, and not all devs know how. Which is why some ports will be bad until it is common best practice.
Can understand the female one...
But the male one looks a bit... small?
It is the one XB360 owner that can say that his XB360 only failed once in two years and that he had to send it in only once.
Let us just hope this gen is a once off in the console industry... Would hate to see another tragic episode like this. Love or hate the xbots - this is just not fair.
I thought the Elite model had the bigger heatsink?
Oh no... the colors are washed out...
No wait... it is just washed.
Vista is dead. Even though MS made lots of money in sales - it is dead. Coporates won't touch it. And the new Windows version is too close - so they will just skip Vista. XP is good. It works for corporates, and the installed base is too big to ignore. Same for the Office package. Many skip one generation. Office 97 was so good, that many skipped Office 2000. Some will skip Office 2003 and Offcie XP, and only jump to Office 2007. Vista was good - but in terms of timing, it is squeezed in betw...
MS will have BR in their next console - they will tout the 200GB capacity, faster speed than the PS3 drive (because by the time the XB720 releases it should have a 4 or 8x BR drive).
But for this gen, and with MS console cycles being short, it would not make sense. Maybe an add-on for those who relly would like it - but then there will be a cry for a "trade-in" of the HD-DVD drive. So from all angles - it would not make sense for MS to concede that BR has taken the mark...
With up to 50GB on a BR disk - they can really try to go for it...
Good news all around. From XB360 owners comments - Bioshock seems to be worth it.
The gamecode is smaller... the content makes up the bulk of these games. Don't see the disk swapping being a big issue here.
With Forza where you have huge car models, and huge car track data - there you will have the problem of track / cars combination content not fitting on a DVD - and where you will have to match car with tracks - e.g. off road cars with off road tracsk etc.
The second game market will take a bit of a hit.
But the prices seems good enough - those who have not played the PS2 games can get them for cheap now. And play it on the 40GB machine. So this is why the BC was dropped. They can re-release the whole of the PS2 platinum games. Does it upscale?
In terms of all the noise generated, MS "won" this year's E3 hands down. The SE FF anouncement will be talked about more than anything else for this year's E3.
